In an attempt to help out a friend whose father recently passed away I find myself with 3 pedal steel guitars a Peavey Nashville amp and a height adjustable fold up seat to sell to try and offset funeral expenses etc. Now I know absolutely nothing about these things except that they are bloody heavy in their flight cases, I am hoping that someone can suggest a person , forum, website or whatever I can talk to with regard to the value, saleability of these items I believe they are made by Carter 2 are singles with 10 strings a piece and 1 is a double also 10 strings a piece and all look to be complete although I have yet to try and assemble them. Any help or suggestions much appreciated John

Computers and recording software help needed
Captain Rumble replied to Captain Rumble's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for all the advice guys unfortunately £1000 + for new is not something I can consider at the moment so its over to scouring the dreaded evilbay and hope something comes up local so I can see it operating before I pay. -
My son has just started college doing a music technology/performance diploma he is a very capable drummer for his age (Rob W Drumming on facebook if your interested) and is learning guitar at a frightening rate. We have a semi soundproof music room that he and I use for practice and he would like to be able to record, mix etc. So to that end I need to acquire the tools for the job, he uses logic pro (means nothing to me) at college and says that's what he wants at home. I have done a little research and am told Apple is the way to go (ouch) but which model and what version of logic I don't know. Now I want to help him anyway I can but funds are extremely limited as is my knowledge of these things so any advice you guys can give me would me much appreciated. John

Playing ahead of or behind the beat

How about the idea of how long a note is and where in relation to the beat you start and finish the note. For me when this feels correct I feel I am in the pocket. Could be talking complete b*ll***ks of course -
what sort of budget are you looking at? if you've got the funds, the TecAmp Puma comes in a nice 500w offering (@4ohms). I tend to like 4-band eq offerings (and/or parametric). i'm not sure how available things are in your area, but I like my Genz 9.0 Shuttle, so a used 6.2 might be a nice option. I've heard that the GK can get you in the tone region of Mesa amps, if that is what you are going for. i'm not a huge fan of the ToneHammer, but it will fit the 500w bill and fit in a gig bag.
+1 for Tec-amp

My back up rig for sale comprising of Barefaced compact which is a generation 2 and an Eden Highwayman WT500 both of which I have owned since new and have always worked faultlessly. The Eden produces around 500watts in bridged mode which is how I always used it with the compact and to my ears the two compliment each other very nicely. Both are unmarked but have been gigged. I will include a Roqsolid cover which is in good condition for the compact and a high quality lead suitable to run from the bridged output to the compact. If your anywhere near Portsmouth you are more than welcome to try it out I would definitely prefer pickup that doesn't mean I wont consider packing them for your courier to pick up I am also willing to travel within an hour of Portsmouth for a fuel donation. Preamp recommendations for a Jazz bass
Captain Rumble replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Repairs and Technical
Just fitted an Audere pre to my mex jazz and if you leave it flat it still sounds like the jazz, the controls are quite subtle to use so very easy to get a working tone. Im well pleased with it and if you find yourself anywhere near Portsmouth your welcome to have a go. -
As you all will no doubt be aware Southbourne is the cultural centre of the universe with The Travelers joy being at its epicentre and as a result I and several other Johns (I kid you not)will be playing there this evening. This will be the third gig with my 16 year old son on drums and he just gets better each time he actually asked me if I thought I practised enough after the last one cheeky begger. Be nice to see anyone who finds themselves bored, desperate, in need of reassurance that there are players out there with even less talent than themselves. John (1 of 3)
