Stagefright - who suffers from it and how do you deal with it?
Gust0o replied to 4000's topic in General Discussion
Is the answer not much the same as for presentations? Make sure you prepare beforehand; know your stuff; have everything you need to hand; breathe from the stomach; etc? -
You know, I quite like that. I'm seeing Ric; I'm seeing Fender; and I'm wondering why Reverend haven't already made one! Just checked: £219? Fecking bargain, surely? Someone buy one

I'd love a Sadowsky, but suspect I am far too tight a bastard.
Guess I'm going to be the odd one out here. Is it possible the guy involved was just having a particularly bad day ? overtired perhaps ? is it very likely that a studio is going to hire someone with generally poor public relation skills ? I do wonder if it was a case of exceptional circumstances here. It may be worth going back and trying to get to know the individual concerned a little better. It may be worth it in the long run, as after all, a good reputation at the studio can go a long way. Just my 2p
I buy all of that. But it's a business, and the customer is king, etc, etc. If one of my suppliers rang me up and accused me of theft, including dosing me with some choice words, I'd tell him to take himself at his word. And then never place any more business with them. It's up to the OP if he wants to give them another chance; to my mind, he doesn't have to. He doesn't owe them, I'd think they owe him and should make nice about it.

Is the Ibanez Grooveline in the UK yet? No it's not.
Well, I have to say there's nothing particularly distinctive about the tone to my ears, but then again, there's no space in this guy's music to hear it.
Good call, chief. -
Sorry Daz, I missed this - but what a brilliant video, some great insight there! Did I miss something, or did they handcut the frets without a guide?

I mean, if it all checks out - get it!!!!
Seems far too cheap. I hate to ask this - but are you sure it's not stolen etc ?
Yeah, that's where my mind would be going - it's far, far too cheap. It's a complete bargain, but you have to ask why. Does it all work? Is it damaged, the neck bent? It is stolen? Is he on hard times and needing the cash quick?

What about WEYi for the Geordies?

Go somewhere else and name and shame. It's his business, you don't have to humour him if he's a f***ing dullard for running it. Or, if you are staying, do so on your terms.
He could give ken bates lessons in how to treat your customers .
Yeah, you're all morons
I wouldn't doubt Nick just yet, he's still posting on Facebook about up & coming features & events for the magazine.
You might want to suggest to him that he post here, or contact subscribers directly - it sounds like there's some disquiet out there.

Fender Dusty Hill Signature Precision Bass
That price is almost insulting the intelligence of the bass players...
I like the look; but am firmly in the Kiwi camp on this one. Have they employed the Gibson pricing team? -
Why dont you do something off the wall and do one on...... ooh I dont know....... how about some random noobie whos only posted 3 times, joined last week and whos name begins with M. Drop them a PM, you might hit gold Something like that? A
I see what you did there And yes, I would read that more than a straight Jazz opus. -
Strangely,I've read a couple of (auto)biographies of musicians that are based around 'drugs, parties and rock and roll' and find them boring...I like reading about their musical background and accomplishments.
I think the idea is that you'd do both. A good life story would have broader appeal, and bring more people closer to the music, than a straight-laced story of Jazz. Which, let's face it, would be inordinately dull to the average punter. -

Ripon doesn't have a train station?!?

I don't think this stops people coming and going, chaps, It just obliges them to stay for a little while and contribute, and deters the casual scammer.

Guy finds 62/63 Shell Pink Jazz Bass..it's all going off on Talkbass
Gust0o replied to umcoo's topic in General Discussion
You should stick around. The new anti-stalking legislation will make it harder for us to follow you if you leave There were some righteous keyboard warriors in the original TB thread; it was all quite embarassing, and maybe a little homoerotic, as people postured and gesticulated and flexed their internet muscles. I didn't catch how the bass was original procured. Did it come via a facilities chappy? If so, I wonder if my old leather couch is causing similar scenes on TalkCouch, or somesuch. I bet my old landlord sold it when I moved out and abandoned it. I know someone else owns it, but they don't own the spirit of my old couch. Maybe someone should dream of them crashing their car, so they can steal back my couch, and offer it back to me with roses and candy. -
Just tell them yours is bigger. And it's not what you do with it which counts

Finding *THE* bass - following from the 'end of GAS' topic...
Gust0o replied to Gust0o's topic in General Discussion
Cheers Kiwi, good post. Pity I'm trying to move me Spector on, really Just to note, I wasn't talking about having one bass - but having "the one": the one you love; the one that feels just right; the one you turn to every time... that kind of thing I don't think I could own just one.
