Olympia ob-3ce - replacement headstock truss rod cover
StingRayBoy42 replied to Lightship37's topic in General Discussion
If you google "Tacoma truss rod cover" you'll find a few options - Olympia is the budget Tacoma brand. These look the nicest! http://www.wecinlay.com/truss_rod_tacoma.php I used to have one of those Olympia ABGs - lovely bit of wood. -
I bought a MIM 70s Jazz Bass from the Electronic Bay, and the pickups are rubbish. They buzz (more if you touch them), they sound weak and out of phase if they're both turned up full and they don't seem to want to be earthed. Other than that, the Bass is lovely so I'm keeping it - the seller refunded a bit of money so I'm more or less happy. Can anyone recommend me some replacement pickups? I like an old-skool thumpy sort of sound if that helps. I've got my eye on a pair of Bartolinis (Bartolinii?) originals at £156 new, just wondering if there's any others I should know about. Fender noiseless? EMG? Seymour Duncs? Wilkinson? Any other makes I've never heard of? Only interested in passive . All and any input welcomed. Cheers Gratuitous pic of the new arrival

Zombie thread alert! I bought a Harley Benton PowerPlant ISO-5 Pro for my small pedalboard and it is a fantastic piece of kit. Completely silent, so small it fits under a Pedaltrain Nano, five outputs (two are switchable for 9/12/18 volts), tons of milliamps ... all for £42. Superb. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_powerplant_iso_5_pro.htm

Midlands : shop / retailer with lots of jazz basses to try
StingRayBoy42 replied to Jolltax's topic in Bass Guitars
Guitar Guitar is pretty decent - they have a good selection of Basses and the staff are sound. Not sure about a private room but I'm sure there would be a headphones option. No experience of PMT in brum but I'm sure they're nice too! As for trading in the HB- they're cheap as chips brand new, so you'll probably get nothing for it in a trade. They're pretty highly regarded - you might get a few quid for it on here. I'd keep it as a backup/beater/lend it to a mate/travel Bass. -
Brian bought some strings from me - super easy and pleasant transaction all the way.

How many basses do you take on stage?

One, but reading some of these horror stories, I might make it two. -
One of my bands use clicks for some stuff - I've never felt it's lifelsess or robotic, and you can be as spontaneous as you like as long as it's in time! I got this gig because I was comfortable playing to a click - Another string to your bow and a useful skill to have IMO.

Another hissy fit - Sleaford Mods this time

Understand how disheartening it is to see someone in the front row looking bored, but posting their face on Twitter is well out of order. He's deleted it and (sort of) apologised, so that's to his credit. I'm a big Royal Blood fan, but berating the audience at a Radio 1 roadshow for not knowing who they are makes him look like a right male appendage. -
Just finished on R4 - listen again here https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001msrm Talking about his book and how Spinal Tap definitely isn't based on Sabbath.

Great idea. Ten points!

100% The best bits bag there is - had mine since god was a boy and it's still going strong. It fits everything I need, everything I don't and you can *always* stuff something else in, even when it's "full".

Bought some big band charts from Alan - top transaction all the way!
