1. +1 gigging the midget. My amp is a Shuttle 9.0. And In my rock covers band with 2 guitards en a heavy hitting drummer the volume knob never passes 4. Though we always play with a PA. Some gigs I go by public transportation. And after many years of being a drummer that is such a relief. So I wouldn't trade with a S12. If I will ever need extra power a second midget will be my weapon of choice.
  2.
Thanks for the replies guys, however, I just wanted some real world "CLEAN" settings
Set the gain as low as possible to get an audible result. Don't put it higher than 9 o'clock. The rest at noon. Master section at taste. Don't push the signal shape buttons. This is a real world setting. If the result isn't a clean sound, you've got a faulty unit.
  3. Nice A/B. Looking forward to your comments when you have used the Ampeg in anger.
  4. Wonderful amp. Combined with a 4 ohm 4x10 more than enough power to be heard in a loud rock band. Sold mine when I decided that I needed a small cabinet and therefore more power at 8 ohm. Still missing that great FET preamp. Much nicer than the 6.0/9.0's pre. Have a bump on me
  5. We open with Radiohead's You. Followed by Yellow (Coldplay).

Thx Ray, Great playing! Maybe you can add a touch of mids to get a bit more definition?

    New Zoom B3

For my covers band I need 3 presets with increasing drive. From clean (Stereophonic's maybe tomorrow) to bit distorted (think Chelsea Dagger or Farewell to the fairground). And somewhere in between (Editors stuff). I also need a compressor to even the volume differences between finger style and pick. For these purposes I consider a VT Bass deluxe and a pedal compressor. But for the sake of money I think I will try the Zoom B3. The gig reviews almost convinced me. So trying is the only way to find out, me thinks. I am going to sell the big muff and the Boss RC-2 loop station. But will keep the VT Bass and Polytune for now.
it's a little smoother sounding but in a full band situation no one will be able to tell.
That seems to be the story of the B3

Many thanks Chris! Maybe more users can share about their experience with the compressors?

Chris, how would you compare the B3 compressors with the Aggie TLC?

  14. **** SOLD ***** Fully loaded 1992 MIJ Fernandes precision neck. Wide and flat like a great P bass neck should be. Feels like the early Japanese or Korean Fender necks, or like the new Classic 50's P bass necks. Straight neck, little fretwear but gets super low action and truss rod works freely. Standard Fender size. Pricedrop: 100 gbp including shipment. Reasonable offers considered. Or p/x trade with a compressor (Aguilar, Diamond, Rothwell) or sfx micro fuzz or red/black dragon.
But which is which? Small Stone vs 4-Phaser. Bass Big Muff (Dry setting, tone 100%, Sustain/Gain 100% Blend 50%)
Thanks for posting these clips! I listened to these two soundclips. And in both clips I liked the first recordings a bit more. Because they both have a bit more definition to my ears. The second parts were a bit more drowned in the effect. So I place my bet on the B3 being the second part of these two recordings. Could you also please record some octave up & down, some synth stuff and maybe a bit envelope filters?
