I have a TC and Mark Bass heads. I also used to own a Terror which I ony got rid of as it was an early one with the super hot DI problem. Those three would all work if you approached them in the right way. The TC is great and works well with effects. I use the Mark Bass as a back up but always have a little Bass Big Muff dialled in as it's a bit too clean for me otherwise. You don't need pedals with a Terror. Wind the wick up and enjoy the one great sound. I'm gassing for one again now! No idea about the GK. Let's not get into a what's punk or not discussion though......

Yes. I have a nice Diago case for sticking everyting in and a much smaller one for swapping the essentials on. It doesn't take long to swap over 2 or 3 pedals..

Only 2 from around 1980! I had a mid 60s Epiphone Rivoli in Natural that was a looker. Bought and sold when they had no hip value at all. Would be fun for the occasional outing and videos/photos. I do reallly miss my black Shergold Marathon though. My first proper bass. I 'upgraded' to a '68 sunburst P bass that was actually a bit of a dog. My current 2007 Precision would kick its arse in every department. I wouldn't want that one back.
Really glad to see the back of the 3 point bridge...worst piece of bass hardware of all time.
I love string changing with a 3 point bridge. Hunt the saddle time again....

Which P Bass aftermarket pickups sound dirtiest ?

I've got a Wizard Thumper in my P Bass. They work very well. I'm not known for my clean sounds! -

I love my 'smoke and mirrors' TC 450. The drive and comp work for me.

Looks like the intonation was set up in the khazi with the light off too.
not bad so far, but does it work in a band context?
An often overlooked point. My best 'in the mix' drive tone/sound is really pretty horrible when everyone stops playing. All those killer 'bedroom tones' also seem to get lost and sound bland once you add band mates. I might give this one a whirl. EHX pedals seem to work well for me.
My fave JJ moment: When the bass comes in on Hanging Around. It really sounds like the bass amp is actually in your room, playing along to the track. Fantastic bass moment that.
That's the one. The first time I stuck it on the record player I decided I had to be a bass player and have a bit of that.

I saw the title and thought it was another Ashdown thread....

Basses In/Basses Out 2014 - And What You've Learned......
Low End Bee replied to spongebob's topic in General Discussion
Nothing in or out for 2 years now. I did taken my Jazz necked Precision to a few rehearsals after not using it for about 8 years. I have learned Jazz necks make my left hand ache after an hour or so. -
Your musical ambitions, plans & goals for 2015?
Low End Bee replied to a topic in General Discussion
With the Jetsonics probably 10 or so gigs for the year and another EP to record and release. For the irst time I going multi band. I've got a very tasty project lined up with a name drummer and 3 other cracking musicians that will be very interesting if it comes off. I might also have a little dabble in the covers arena as I've had an offer. It 'll be fun as long as I don't have to rehearse too often for it. Looking forward to being busy. -
Andy Warren, ex of Adam and the Ants and the Monochrome Set (also hugely under-rated..)
Yep. Also the most miserable looking bassist ever live. Not a criticism though. Works in context.

Snake oil... - Power Cord: a measly $149
Low End Bee replied to mcnach's topic in General Discussion
You can't scrimp on electrickery. I've just upgraded my local power station to run on unobtanium. Stick an extreme smiley face on the EQ, push the contour button all the way in and you have the tone of the gods. -
I suffer a lot from twisting cables. I'm like a slow motion dervish when I play. I can get a 15 foot lead down to 5 feet of gordian knot in minutes. As a solution I've gone for old school coiled phone style Vox cables. £19 quid a pop and haven't let me down in 18 months, I had the more expensive and heavier Bullet branded ones before but one packed up at a gig so they're off the list. Not the thing for the recording studio or if you're interested in tone and stuff. But they're great for rehearsals and gigging.

After a DR A string went ping and I had to faff about re-stringing in a 40 minute set I always take a spare. No crowd wants to hear me shouting '****ing hell' and watch me rummage around for 5 minutes. Only time I take one now is if there's another 4 string right handed fretted player on the bill I know and we'll agree in advance to cover each other.
Don't tell me you've found enough Brentford FC players that are also musicians to make up a combo?
Lord save us from mixing with our heroes out of context..... The drummer is from Brentford and is a bit tasty though.

Would that be Rick O'Shay?

Pretty poor. Only 7 gigs. Lowest ever for the Jetsonics. 4 of them were very good though. On the plus side I managed to bash out a higher than average amount of decent new songs. I need more than that for 2015. So I'm getting together a not your usual covers band and another originals band with a line up that's got me very excited.

They did the quiet stuff well too. I like Plonk singing over Rod on Ooh La La and especially this..

Even hearing the words Trace Elliot gives my back a memory twinge. It was a lovely sounding thing but I'm not sure there's been a gigging situation I've been in since I got rid of the big rig when it would have been sonically better than my current lightweight TC set up. If you're playing a big venue you're going bthrough the desk anyway. Last but one gig I just took a Sansamp. Best bass sound of the night according to a few comments. Easy/lazy all the way for me.

Creative is sometimes stretching it a bit. Intro - Verse - Chorus - Verse - Chorus - Smashinging orangey bit - Verse - Double chorus and out Stick it all in A if possible. If not keep it on the dotted bits of the neck. Maybe stick a C# minor in to make it sound clever if you have to. Lyrics - Count up your syllables - make it rhyme now and then. That's how I do it anyway. If it's jazz you can just tune up for a bit
Why you no play West London, huh?
'Cause there is nowhere
...Personally, creativity is great, but there is nothing like the feeling of being appreciated and a crowd responding to your efforts.regardless of who wrote the material but having written it yourself was the icing on the cake.
No problem with covers either. I will be having a dabble myself soon. It's still all live music at the end of the day. I'm interested to see if the emotional feeling when playing is the same when I break my cover band cherry.
