Sounds like someone needs a wireless kit,...
As a cheapskate I always bring a 30 foot lead for this sort of thing.

I have TC gear. 450 classic, RS210 & RS112. I've noticed that in a band mix if I have everything flat master volume is set about 3.5. Smiley face scooped EQ volume about 5.5. Low mid only moved to 2pm volume about 2.5. To perceptibly sound level in the mix. That's with a noisy drummer.

My number 1 bass is a 3TSB precision with a rosewood board. How generic can you get? The black scratchplate just about makes it bearable. I hate the finish but it was the best player of several I tried at the time. I've had it 8 years and I hope I'll get around to liking sunburst one day. The only finish I hate more is 'natural' wood. So I've justy bought a jazz in natural of course... I should really have a look at re-finishing. PS. There's no option on the poll for all of them so I can't vote.

Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
Low End Bee replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
I've just nabbed a natural finish HB Jazz for £39 incl shipping. I have a very nice early 90s Mighty Mite maple Jazz neck knocking around at home that might work with it.
It's on it's way. Reached the Cologne hub. I've already bought a replacement pickguard in a fit of over confidence. -
should I buy a TC RS112 cab? (practice...+ )
Low End Bee replied to goonieman's topic in Amps and Cabs
I use an RS112 at rehearsals in a very noisy band. For gigs I just shove an RS210 on top. If you can get one for £200 go for it. Plenty loud. -

Albums that are not given the recognition they deserve.

Give 'Em Enough Rope. My favourite Clash LP. Huge guitar sounds and great songs. Even the horrible Wal bass thing they made Simonon use doesn't spoil it -

Is it possible to forget how to play the bass?
Low End Bee replied to bobpalt's topic in General Discussion
I had a 16 year odd gap. I got back to being as adequate as I was when I stopped in no time. -
I have a fairly eclectic tastes but am very narrow minded in what I like in a particular genre. I got offered a try out for a .punk' covers band. "You know? Stuff like Linkin Park and Sum 41" My advert said 'Punk. Only really like UK bands 76-80. No Oi'. I declined. And what is an indie band? If they're signed to a major label? I don't get it. If they've sold enough product to be well known they can't be alternative either surely? I think I'm probably just an awkward sod.

Things bass players say in the studio?
Low End Bee replied to jazzyvee's topic in General Discussion
Very good. 'Agghh Urggh Sorry' I can identify with that. According to others I'm known for 'That'll do. It won't get any better' -
I bet they sound lovely and they'll be plenty loud. Two weeks later of course and we'll be told that they're actually only putting out 67 watts and it's all done with a flux capacitor crossover compressor whatsit.

Strat owners of the world! Pickup options... how many do you use?
Low End Bee replied to Ajoten's topic in Guitars
I've got 2 hot rails & middle single coil with a push pull coil tap making 9 choices I think, I only ever use the bridge pickup in humbucker or tapped. I don't particularly like the way strats look but they do the job and are so comfy to play. -
I've got both. A TC 450 Classic and a Little Mark. I guess the Mark Bass would excel at the function stuff. I like a nasty sound so the TC wins for what I do. They're both good bits of kit.

My band sound is horrible on its own but works with very little eq fiddling in a gig or rehearsal mix. My plonking away at home sound is very pleasant to the ears but gets lost and doesn't work in a band mix. I just accept it.

What have you got GAS for at the moment? ... Guitar version.
And is why musicians who made it through the '70s were real men; every gig meant hauling monolithic boxes - including sideboards it seems - up creaky rotten stairs with no bannisters into clubs whose electrics hadn't been touched since the Blitz, running said boxes from one extension cables that had been repaired numerous times with sellotape or Elastoplast but was still trailing through puddles of beer, and then subjected to an atmosphere not unlike a nicotine testing laboratory for three hours. But the tone ......
I gigged and HH VS100 through and ex reggae sound system 18" bass bin made from what felt like paving slabs '79-81. Can you imagine the awesome tone?
Our main guitar amp at the time was a Linear Concord, a whole 30 watts. My brother used an enormous old (even then...) valve tape recorder as an overdrive; it was 3 times the size (and weight..!) of the amp. Our 2nd guitar, John Mac, wanted disto too so, not to be outdone, he brought along a whole stereo radiogram, as big as a sideboard. We did very few gigs with that formation, but the sounds were excellent, to our inexperienced (and poor..!) ears. Reggae became known, and we wanted to record something in that idiom. We finally nailed the bass drum sound we were looking for by shoving a giant stuffed ladybird into a plastic bucket, and whacking it with the flat of a wooden spoon. Happy daze.
Thsi has made me chuckle to myself all afternoon. Effects pedals the size of a sideboard

Is Keef right, Sgt Peppers is a load of tosh?
I'm sure 'young people' wouldn't like you for saying that. But who cares what they think? Your observation is factually correct and anyway, young people mostly know nothing about anything so they're hardly likely to know anything at all about the impact that Beatles had on wider society unless they trouble themselves to read about it which is doubtful, being as young people seem to do nothing but text their friends and tweet their most recent thoughts on the lines of: 'Saw a cloud. Felt sad. Saw the sun. Felt happy. Share this!'.
'Like' -
Happy Anniversary. I bet you can still remeber getting it home and realising you actually owned a bass. I worked at Maurice Plaquet's in the late 70s. It was a very interesting experience.
