The Field Marshalls are based around West/South West London. We rehearse Thursdays in Hampton. We are a new band and have a sets worth of original songs ready. Age wise we are, ahem, experienced but with a youthful outlook. Late 40s and a bit... We are looking for somebody who will be happy contributing to songwriting and working out there own guitar parts. Nobody gets told what or how to do it in this band but feedback is of course given and received. The sound at the moment is a bit like Blondie meets the Stranglers by way of the Buzzcocks with a bit of dubby goodness. That could of course change with the dynamic of a new member. That's the fun part. The goal is writing great songs then gigging and recording them. We have loads of experience. A fair few contacts and are a friendly bunch. A couple of gigs offers already and recording lined up. The band are: Annalisa - Vocals - ex Plastic Letters Dave - Drums - ex the Jetsonics Rog - Keys - 111, the Transistors, the Tuesday Club Ad - Bass - ex the Jetsonics. PM me if you're interested

In answer to the OP. Having some moves that look natural to you and fit in with the context of the band are a huge plus. But if the person/s doing the video shoot know what they're doing they'll move the camera around and give you direction on what to do. No point bouncing around like a mentalist if they're trying to get an arty shot and vice-versa.

Blimey. Just noticed this. I've used the workshop many times so I'm glad that the 2 Andy's are carrying on. Lovely chaps who do great work. Can't say I'm surprised to see the retail side go though. It appeared to be run very much like the shop I used to work in in the 70s.....

Not really bothered once a bass has had its first bash. My extremely well used 9 year old P bass has loads of dings and dents. It's even worn through to the wood on the forearm chamfer due to being chipped repeatedly by cufflinks, jacket buttons, watches, poor technique, etc and I've had to sand down the jagged chips. Trouble is all this honest wear makes it look like a half arsed relic job. I might end up refininshing it.

Live music venues in your area.

West London. Population 1.6 million. Originals - Sweet FA apart fron the Hammersmith Apollo/Odeon. It's a national disgrace. -
Just seen this thread. I do like these. A black and maple short scale would be tempting.

I've got an old DOD Ice box that stands out in the mix pretty well. I've tried some of the more pricy and boutique ones and not found them to be as good or significantly better to justify the cost. There's normally a few cheap ones in the £30 area on ebay.

Nothing to do with the OP but still on the subject of Macaris. I knew someone who worked there in the 70s. Foyles bookshop had a confusing 'pay this way' sign that would lead some people to cross the road and try and pay for their books in Macaris. He got some Foyles bags and a receipt book and made himself a nice earner for a couple of years. Probably never discounted anything either....

Anyone play in an instrumental only band?
Low End Bee replied to James Nada's topic in General Discussion
Saw Graham Day's instrumental band the Senior Service a while ago. They were excellent. It's a hard job to pull off though, The only thing I would say is the gaps between songs need something happening or they feel like very empty spaces for an audience with instrumentals only.. -
Marshall Mode Four. 350 watts of yuk.

Depends what you're using it for I guess. Nothing quite sits in a rock n roll mix like a Precision to my ears. Probably because I've tuned my ears into that sound since I starrted listening to music. I'm really enjoying playing away with a Warwick Starbass in the current band but when it comes to recording it'll be the Precision getting plugged in.

Now sorted. A strip down. A contact cleaner going over. Updating OS to Sierra and a re-install of the driver and it's working fine.

It's an advert with a bass.

Help! My near 10 year old KB37 needs replacing. It's not enjoying its relationship with my 2015 macbook pro and only works when it feels like it or decides to hiss and crackle just when I've done the perfect take. Is there anything out there that can do a similar job? I could get away with 25 keys. The XLR input and and 1/4" are so handy to have as I can do guitar, bass, keys and vocals all on the one unit. I know it was never a high end interface but it was perfect for song demos on Logic or Garageband that I could then share with the band. If there's no direct equivalent do I need to seperate units to do the same job? Could I link them if so? Not a lot of USB ports on my Mac and it will need to be portable.

They're not very rock n roll are they?

it'll look nice when they paint it.
I saw the latest incarnation of Doctor Feelgood at the Half Moon in Putney about five years ago. Yet again, it was the 'A'. Every time the bass player hit it, the whole room just rang. A few months later I saw The Jetsonics (feat. Low End Bee) play the support slot at the same venue and warned Adam about the rogue A. Didn't make a blind bit of difference, the whole room just rang. Again.
At least it shows I was in tune for a change.
