  1. Sounds like Jensen has got you, but if not, let me know and I'll have a look too! Cheers Si
  2. Ah, didn’t realise it only played clips in that player. Oh well, If you have Spotify, you can click through and listen to the full versions obviously. Thanks very much for the kind words, it’s a very fun project Si

  5. I did, it was just a Jazz, so took the neck from the body and packed it into my normal case (wrapped in pants and T-shirt’s haha). A short or medium scale would make that even easier (my 34” scale Jazz neck just about for diagonally in the case). Put it together when I got to Nashville and let it settle for a week before camp. You could always ask Holly (Victor’s wife who organizes the camps) if there are other options now. Someone from Germany borrowed a bass from Anthony when I went. Si
  6. Also think about further afield perhaps, something more of an adventure. It’s only a week-long course (so could perhaps fit alongside another course you do), but seriously consider Victor Wooten’s ‘Wooten Woods’ retreat near Nashville. I did it back in 2014 and it was amazing, very eye-opening. I did the ‘Music & Nature’ course which worked out to be about half bass players, and half other musicians. You get bed and board onsite, and it’s 5 days of music and nature lessons (about a 70-30 split). Lessons from Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, Anthony Wellington, Dave Welsch and any number of other guests who happen to be available (we had Felix Pastorius for the week as a surprise....he bought the Bass Of Doom with him). My dad’s a big country music fan so we both flew out and spent a week in Nashville, judging hanging out, seeing lots of music. Then he flew home and I went to the camp, then flew home on my own a week later. The courses are beginners to advanced together, all ages (we had 16-65), so it’s a really great learning experience. Some amazing concepts, and is really inspiring. In 2014, it worked out to about £800 + flights (plus any bed/board you take in Nashville seperately). http://vixcamps.com/ Si p.s. You absolutely don’t have to be a Wooten slap fan, it’s very little (if any) of that. He’s an incredible teacher and player, the YouTube slap thing is about 10% of what he does .
  7. I’d save for 3-4 years and get a Fodera or (insert uber priced brand here) Si
  8. Am on the move and can’t quite picture what you mean, got a screenshot? Si
  9. See that’s a legit reason, however it doesn’t seem to be the usually cited impetus. Si
  10. My (limited) understanding is that you wouldn’t have a 1-piece ash neck in the same way as a maple neck, for stability reasons. However using the three (or more) ash pieces increases stability significantly. Again, maybe @skelf can comment Si
  11. If you want to minimize your losses (ie if you’re not sure you’ll get on with it), buy used. Otherwise I’d estimate you’ll lose about £500 selling it on based on the ‘new’ price, give or take. Si
  12. Heads-up for this coming Sunday! 5 tickets left apparently Si
  13. Then I'd argue it's not football that's hampering your practice.....it's beer and women!! 😆 Si
  14. Currently on the free Trial for Helix Native......ultimately testing out the sounds for the HX Effects. I'm sceptical that it can replace my pedalboard, but always up for being wrong Si
  15. Judging the whole competition (and football in general) based on one, fairly average, game is not particularly fair is it. But anyway, back to the OP, what's to say you can't sit and play bass whilst watching? There's a lot to be said for simply running scales and basic maintenance like that whilst the TV is on. I read an interview with someone (forget you) where they said they would have documentaries on and basically improvise and play as if they were the sound-track.....fantastic practice! But ultimately, don't be afraid to take a break from playing! Whilst practice is important, so is life.....as that feeds into your playing! It's once every 4 years (2 if you like the Euros too), give yourself a break and go even harder on the bass when it's finished Si
  16. I should have (way) more specific! I don’t know why people on the forum, who otherwise usually own some decent basses, get excited about basses that cost same as a set of strings......etc etc Si
  17. All the headstock shapes differ from each other lol, zoom in and compare. Really don’t know why people get excited by Basses that are cheaper than some string sets. Unless money is a genuine problem, they’re not going to be worth your while! Si
  18. Just out of curiosity, what are you hoping to hear from the amp in a music shop that is going to inform you what it sounds like at a gig in a band situation? Si

    What midi?

Is there definitely an update available? Latest version of Lite appears to be 9.7.6 If you're version is showing as older than that, but not detecting an update from within Ableton, you may need to contact them directly in order to find the best solution without losing all of your templates/settings etc. Whilst we obviously package Ableton and can offer some insight into how it works with our gear, we don't offer support on that kind of issue (ie their update servers etc). You shouldn't need to update Ableton to run the Launchkey, you'll want to explore the 'In-Control' functionality of the Launchkey and the what it means to not have that selected. There's a DAW setup article here: https://d2xhy469pqj8rc.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/novation/downloads/10606/launchkey-mk2-daw-setup-guide.pdf Page 10 of the manual starts to talk about the differences between 'In Control' mapping and basic DAW mapping: https://d2xhy469pqj8rc.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/novation/downloads/10577/launchkey-mk2-ug-en_0.pdf Si // Novation
  20. Stunning! Really don't see many of these at all, great way to own a 50's style vintage bass without paying vintage prices. Si
  21. Oh it's so lovely! Si
  22. I use them, you’ll get used to it, try wearing them 20-30mins before you start playing to acclimatise. If you’ve come to using them from nothing, or even crappy foam things etc, they’re a big jump. Ultimately, it’s use them, or ‘get into the atmosphere’ and lose/damage your hearing quicker. Si
  23. @ped Si
  24. Still looking for a Bartolini Precision pickup to borrow for a few days if anyone has one in a drawer somewhere :)

  25. Glad to hear you went for the La Bella’s!! Looks great with the P! A matching set to my Mustang/71 P Si
