  1. But what's that got to do with gender? Si
  2. I actually really like the OC-5's analogue side for the Octave Up. The digital side octave down and up is very Sub-n-up/Pog'y, whereas the Analogue side octave down really cops the OC-2 vibe (as above), and I think the octave up is thicker, a tiny bit of fuzz on the top end (standard, can't be heard in a mix anyway), so not super clean, but definitely not tinny. Si
  3. I spoke to Tom yesterday, all is fine and well, just that life in lockdown very much got in the way (difficult with a one-person company). He’s currently working on starting up again soon though, so watch this space! Si
  4. Sorry, completely forgot to post this super quick comparison: Old OC-2 Octaver & OC-5. I’ll do another with a newer OC-2 as, while the circuit never changed (they all sound the same), they did fix the volume drop issue, which certainly causes some psycho-acoustic “louder is better” vibes Headphones needed!!: Si
  5. For a while I maintained an OC-2 serial database, which was pretty interesting. I must admit to being slack on it the last couple of years: https://simonpoulton.tumblr.com/post/58729436850/boss-oc-2-serial-number-database But @iamtheelvy currently owns the oldest I‘ve seen, with my May ‘82 the next oldest. I’m putting together a modded DOD 250 for a friend, got all the relevant parts and kits etc, but what do you think to the following signal path? The output boost/volume is purely to give a global volume control. Anything I’m missing? There’s no real reason why you’d have the Pre-gain boost after the blend is there? Cheers Si
  7. To be fair, we haven’t seen the DJ5 in question to pass judgment on it Si
  8. Yeah, this really has nothing to do with Lakland quality in my eyes, just someone’s preference with how the natural wood looks, which is fine of course. That said, I reckon this is something that Lakland themselves would sell as ‘B-stock’, wonder why GuitarGuitar didn’t mark it down?! In any case, looks like it’s been sorted, although I’d much rather have a Lakkie than a Fender, my DJ5 is REALLY good! Si
  9. Looks like that Blazer has had a rough paint job though, headstock has lost the decal as a result. Think the J pickup might also be wonky?! Could just be the photo angle. Si
  10. Hipshot Ultralites arrived! Now just waiting on La Bella Black Tapewounds and the project bass will be ready for final assembly 🤗

  11. ?? Si
  12. I've got my hands on an OC-5, so I'll be doing a bass comparison with my OC-2's asap Si
  13. Keep it exactly how it is. And then order a custom from someone like Moollon, Olinto or Limelight to address your want for a Sea Foam over Sunburst curiosity. Simples Si
  14. Unless Paul has swapped his out (I doubt it), the pickups will likely be the stock Lundgren/Stenback single coils. Si
  15. Definitely Lakland all the way, they make excellent basses, even the Skylines. I have a Skyline DJ5, a US custom 44-94 and if I could buy back my old Skyline 55-01, I would! Si
  16. Decided to take a little family shot. There’s another ‘project’ Precision that needs to be added to this when it’s finished, soon hopefully, waiting on tuners. Anyway, L-R: 70’s Camel Journey 2020 Moollon P Classic IV 1971 Fender Precision Si
  17. SOLD I've had this kicking around for a while, and it's time to make a bit of space. Ashdown MiBass 2.0 amp head, FAULTY/SOLD AS SEEN. The headphone out works, however no sound to a cabinet from either of the speakon outputs. I suppose there's not much else to say, hopefully somebody can repair it?! Collection from Hemel Hempstead or High Wycombe, or I can post it at your expense. Cheers Si
  18. Can't wait to see this one finished! Si
  19. I was having a severe GAS attack for one of these the other night! I think I’m over it.....I think. They’re crap right? 😅 Si
  20. No plans on that front, although never say never Lol Si
  21. So last week saw a bit of an unplanned flurry of bass purchases, well....two Firstly a 70'a MIJ Camel Journey Bass from @MoJo. Very cool, trans-white/blonde finish, maple rock machine. DiMarzio Model P (which I've always liked). Effectively just another Precision for my arsenal: Secondly, on Saturday I picked up Lakland Skyline DJ5 from The Gallery. I wanted another 5 string, and regretted selling my Lakland 55-01 a year or so ago. So with my Elrick covering the active 5 string duties, and remembering that I loved the Skyline DJ4 when I had it briefly a couple of years ago, plumped for this. Colour is Pearl White, which is actually another little tip-of-the-hat to my first ever bass, an Encore Precision, also in Pearl White: And that's me done for at least 6 months........I think Si
  22. I had a set of White Gold Tapes on my Lakland 55-01 when I had it, absolutely loved them! Really loved the tension actually, didn’t sound brilliant acoustically (like that matters), but live/recorded tone was brilliant. Si
