  1. “Specifically (but not exclusively, all thoughts welcome), their various 12" cab options in a gig setting.” This, in context with the specific thread title, should really stop anyone who wants to hate on either manufacturer, while also not having experience of either, from getting involved. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Si
  2. I’ve never heard of anyone having any issues with the structural integrity of a BF cab, certainly mine have been absolutely solid toured around, with plenty of weight on them in the van. Once again, I’m only really interested in comments from those who have experience of the dispersion, power efficiency and sonic quality of the two brands, comparatively, in a gigging environment. Anything else is really just fulfilling your own agenda. Cheers Si
  3. Before this gets into a bit of a to-and-fro, I’m already a very happy Barefaced user, I think they’re excellent! Solidly built (I’ve gigged mine a LOT) and sound fantastic in a band setting, light (I don’t remember the last time I had to carry a car on a long load-in). Similarly, I know Trickfish offer an excellent product (I know the guys, they’re equally excellent people!). I’m simply looking for an, albeit unlikely, situation where someone has gigged both, and for them to share their comparative thoughts. cheers Si
  4. Do you have an experience of how the 'better design' translate to a live-gig experience? Cheers Si
  5. Hi all, Bit of a long-shot this, but does anyone have any experience comparing Trickfish and Barefaced cabs? Specifically (but not exclusively, all thoughts welcome), their various 12" cab options in a gig setting. Many thanks Si
  6. Probably should! Plans to upgrade it? Si
  7. They’re excellent! As are all Lakland basses really! Si
  8. Hmm, I’ve not heard of that issue on MacBooks with regards to volume....if there was an issue with it being powered, I would expect it to simply not work at all. That said, I’ve not looked into it, and it’s a number of years since I was in the tech support team haha. I’ll look into it Monday. Si // Focusrite
  9. Hey Laura, We absolutely don’t put important things like control software and drivers behind registration walls, sorry that it wasn’t clear where to go. You can download Focusrite Control from the website here (you’ll need to select your product of course): https://customer.focusrite.com/en/support/downloads With regards to JamKazam, if you’re on Mac, I doubt installing Focusrite Control will change anything as Scarlett’s are class compliant and so don’t need a driver on Mac. If you’re on Windows, Focusrite Control installation includes the USB driver that will get the most out of your Scarlett, as such, that might make a difference. Also note, that if you haven’t yet installed FC to date, your Scarlett will likely want a firmware update, which running FC for the first time will instigate automatically. This will likely also improve performance from factory. As an aside, what we do place the registration wall is a plethora of free plugins, VSTi’s, daws, loops etc, so worth exploring as well at some point. Si // Focusrite
  10. Without having spoken to Tom further, I imagine the prolonged lockdown issues will have slowed things down somewhat. ‘Watch this space’ applies here I imagine. Si
  11. I had a DJ4 for a short while and sold it fund a custom US 44-94. It was bitter-sweet because the 44-94 is excellent, but I regret selling the DJ4, best Jazz Bass I ever owned! So much so that I recently bought a DJ5 to make up for it haha; equally excellent! Si
  12. In addition to my previous list, I’d also like an Olinto in Black over Gold. And a HX Stomp. Thanks 😁 Si
  13. Wondered whether you might have picked up one recent run of Grands. That black/gold scheme nearly had me caving to add to my Midwestern! Si
  14. Another solid choice! I really like the Bart Dual Coils/NTMB with tapewounds combo. Si
  15. The 02 has better electronics stock, but the 01 has lots of scope for upgrades! All round excellent basses, with great necks. Sometimes on the heavy side, but balance well, so less of an issue. Si
  16. Definitely the right choice on the La Bella Mustang flats, they’re awesome! Si
  17. PM’d you Si
  18. 2020 update 😁 Basically I sold my old 55-01 (pictures above), and very much regretted it almost immediately. So bought a DJ5, didn’t help (however good it is), so bought another 55-01 the other day. Needs a setup, but has the awesome La Bella Gold White Nylons back on it, and will be getting a US Bartolini upgrade too. Oh and my trusty custom US 44-94 there too, passive P/J: Si
  19. @Old Man Riva It's a pretty easy process, I emailed them directly and one of their sales guys (Brian) came back to me pretty quickly. I've had both a US Custom 44-94, and a US Classic Series 44-64. As you say, essentially the Classic series came about as US series basses that they could make in batches by reducing any custom options. Classic series also has a reduced model choice too. As far as i'm aware, they typically only offer the Classic series in Sunburst, however sometimes they'll do special deals on custom colours too, which I think they're doing at the moment. The US Custom series will allow you full custom options, all sorts of things like tuners, pickup placement, chambered bodies, fancy woods etc etc Remember that postage is about $120-150 extra on the price, plus your VAT cost when it's imported. My basses were both excellent, I have my 44-94 still, it's fantastic! I sold the 44-64, it was excellent, and sounded lovely, but while it is largely a 60's spec, it is a slightly more modern take, so put the money towards a Moollon. That said, I will get another 44-64 at some point! Anything else, just send me a PM Si
  20. Oh I certainly do, will get to it later! 😁 Si

I keep toying with the idea of getting rid of mine, then play it and immediately decide against it!

  22. Normal conversation is about 60db, a lawn mower is about 90db it seems. Si
  23. Just bought a lovely Lakland 55-01 from Mark, super easy deal, very quick delivery, bass is in great shape. What's more to say? Cheers very much Si
  24. This one? 😉 Si
  25. Hey all, If the Nordstrand J-Blade pickup is set to a radius of 14", am I going to see any string balance issues on a bass with a fingerboard radius of 10"? Nordstrand say no.....although that they would expect to see issues on a more vintage radius like 7.25".......but wondered if there were any thoughts here? Cheers Si
