1. Out of curiosity, what is the porting like on these? Si
2. So I assume this is a reissue!? Might be worth adding that to the description Good luck Si
3.
A 60's Jazz dosen't exactly give a nice Hi-Fi Zingy tone unless you rip out the electronics and basically rob the bass of its worth. It's not worth it IMO. A 5 string 60's Jazz would be tempting though
Jaco managed it!! Anyway, if hi-fi and zingy is what you want (eeuuugh), then just drop a J-Retro into said 60's jazz, doesn't hurt the bass, keep the original gubbins obviously, problem solved!. Plus when you inevitably decide to sell it a year later like everything else , it'll be worth more then when you bought haha, minus the j-retro of course. Si
4. Just sell this and buy a late 60's Jazz bass....thats it.....pension sorted! :-D You don't need anything else as, like you said, you're playing your Spector mostly! Easy! Si p.s. Roscoes always looked a bit.........wonky...to me! lol
5. I've just gotten hold of one and will use it heavily live and in the studio! My choice was based on getting a very enjoyable sound from the 3 channel programmable version on my bands album, but not needing the 3 channels, plumped for the standard DI. Live it also means I can send the exact sound I used on the album pretty much, to the FOH, and my onstage EQ is just from my rig. Oh and it means I'm still sending a signal to FOH if my head breaks down Si
6. I've just got hold of a sansamp and am wanting to purchase a mains power supply for it. Seeing as there is no Tech 21 uk power supplies, what are you guys using to power your sansamps? Cheers Si
7. Still loving this!! And the new tuners look buff! My bronco is gonna be my new years project, Although I'm also thinking I might refinish it, Red isn't the easiest colour to work with when you're trying to get something looking classy lol Si
8. Loads http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=1519 Si
9. Could well have been a Japanese Squier! Hmmm, hope it's still in the BC fold, rather liked it! Si
10. Well, a few months back, 6 maybe, someone was selling a fretless jazz bass.....pretty sure it was fretless! IIRC it was a fender...possibly Japanese, but had a refinished body, in BLUE BURST..yum So thats blue on the outside going to white in the middle! I'm pretty sure it was in the 'for sale' section! I just really liked it and wouldn't mind seeing it again haha, and who knows, if it were to come up for sale again..... :-P Thanks Si
11. I like those hipshot o-rings! Great work so far mate! Si

WHAT....!!!

I've been playing around 9 years now I think, and I started going 'back' to fenders about 3 years ago. Then I stepped up about 6 months ago and purchased my 1973 Jazz, tis a beauty of a bass and did what I thought was the impossible and knocked my standard US jazz off it's number one slot! Warwicks, Laklands (44-02D), Yamaha have all come and gone. I wouldn't rule out Lakland again though, but one of the more simpler Fender copies, so that still counts lol, didn't get on with their active stuff......too polite! So now I've got 2 Jazzes, a parts Precision and my active 'ThingRay' bass is soon being replaced by another custom/parts passive Jazz Lovely stuff! Si
15. Ultralites only take one screw to affix! So it's safe to say that they won't lineup with the current tuner screw holes! Four more holes won't hurt though, go for it! Remember to get the normal peg sizes though, as you can get Ultralites in a smaller peg size that will be too small for your headstock Si
16. Ummm, how about everyone playing because they enjoy playing and the interaction with others? I play originals and covers, bot bands I enjoy immensely! I've played in covers and originals bands before that I didn't enjoy at all, so I stopped, but those instances are few and far between, and live situation is generally fun and challenging, its what you make it! If music isn't paying your rent, but you're enjoying what you're doing......get a job! If music is paying, but you hate it.....you'll just end up resenting it Si
17. I've asked for photos, including neck stamps and pickup cavity etc etc We'll see what turns up! Si

19. I've got an R1 (120w-1x10) as a practice amp, I know its not the same but its in the same line so I assume similar components to a point! I've found that mine sounds great at low volumes, practice volumes. But when I've taken it to a gig, a chilled acoustic, not playing over a band but still needing more volume than 'practice', the tone seems to be a bit lacking. Conclusion: Sounds great at low volumes, doesn't really cut it turned up! But then the R5 is a much bigger amp, although I will say there's a reason why not many gigging players use Laney. But if you're in a 'beggers can't be choosers' situation, go for it, ideally you should try it at a gig first. If you're in no rush, and you're not sure, save up for something else perhaps. Good luck Si
20. I kinda wish I still had my trans purple SB-335 Loved that Bass, was solid as a rock! Only sold it because I moved away from 5'ers, I'm still on 4's now, but would be nice to have that 5 back I sold it to someone on BassWorld I think, so if anyone has a SGC-Nanyo trans purple 5'er with soap bars and active/passive switch. Lemme know! lol Si
21. More December covers shows listed, xmas eve, boxing day and new years eve etc! Plus FSOF January Tour dates will be listed asap as well as 2009 covers shows! phew Si
22. I'm definitly not negating the fact that Schroeder covers are great, But I'd definitly need a grill or it would get pretty shredded in the various vans we pack like tetris! ha! Si
23. I think the main thing I'd have an issue with on this cab (aside from the fact it's in Newcastle haha), is the cloth front. I'd definitly need a normal grill. It would be toured heavily in the back of vans! Again, perhaps Jorg could send me a grill! I think (touch wood) someone is gonna take my EUB in the next couple of days, so let me think on this! Si
24. Cheers WoT I really do need a single cab solution to my two mini Ashdowns, and Schroeder seem to be at the top of my 'interested' pile. But I seem to be leaning toward the 210212 perhaps, maybe the 410, or maybe the 21012. The playing situations I'm in don't call for that 'pillow' that you talk about, my 'metal' band requires a tight sound because of the low tuning but I still like a bit of arse to my sound if you get my meaning. Maybe I should consult Jorg. Cheers Si
25. I know this has probably been asked a bujilion times, but what kinda sound do you get from this 410 WoT? Do you find that it lacks bottom, if you're hankering after a 15? Cheers Si p.s. reckon your '73 jazz would like to play through it again? lol
