2.
Doesn't have a clue...2 pickups, BOTH are humbuckers, not one!
Its just one humbucker isn't it? The other is just a standard split single coil!? Si

4. I wear Doc Proplugs, non-vented, for every single gig that i do! Including all gigs and other 'loud' events that i go to. I even put them in once when i went to a bowling alley, it was ridiculously loud lol. They form part of my 'every morning pickup', Keys, Wallet, Phone, Plugs I'm aiming to have a hearing test soon and get some fitted plugs soon though Si
5. Could be mate, until i get the pot cleaned up and sorted beyond my basic 'Bass Care' skills, i don't think i trust whats coming out the amp completely when i turn it. Does anyone know of any info from fender or otherwise or t'internet about these older models, an archive or something? Cheers Si
6. I can see what he means though, you can emulate fretless playing quite easily with lots of slides etc. Richard Bona mostly just uses his Fodera 5 Fretted live, and just emulates all his various sounds using his Roland V-Bass, pretty good fretless sound, certainly for live use. Si

8. Played a gig with a guy who used a Nord the other day.....awesome sound!!! I have a few different basses, a number of tools for different jobs, thas all. But comfort and personal preference does come into it! Si
9. ah ok, thanks, yeah it is quite a pronounced difference, didn't know if that was a preamp characteristic or a dodgy bit of wiring!, its all good though. Just checked the serial number on the fender site and its dated between 1998 - 1999 Cheers mate Si

South East Bash

Well we were never gonna please everyone with a date, its sometimes best to just say a date and see what the attendance is like after the dust settles. This is the first of any UK bash I'll be able to get to due to gigs, although i do have one that night i should have plenty of time to get back. Si
11. So i just picked up Josh's USA Fender Deluxe, but i wasn't paying attention cos i was excited :-D, whats the layout? Going from left to right as if the bass was strapped on, is it?: Volume, Pan, treble (top stack), bass (bottom stack), mid ???? I was a little confused because the mid (if it is that) doesn't have a centre-dent like the other two EQ pots. Its an older Deluxe, from 2003 i think he said, with the single large polepiece pickups (ala stingray) Cheers Si
12. thought i'd give this a lil bump oh and the date in the title is wrong, its the 18th July like it says in the initial post! Si
13. Cheers for the info guys The Lindy Fralin Split Coil pickup, does anyone know if that gives a higher output? Or simply just reduces hum? Si
14. By stacked, i guess i mean humbuckers that fit into the single J pickup space!? My friend has one in his Strat, similar to one in the pic i've attached! Anyone have an idea? Cheers Si

South East Bash

I think the only thing i have of interest that people might like is my Shuker EUB, other then that its my USA Jazz, Corvette $$ (might be gone by then) and my Drop C ThingRay lol. Although might have my piccolo bass restrung by then! Tis in the diary Si

COol Is anyone bringing a lakland i can try? :-D Si
17. [Top Ten hit]-me! Do you live at a bass museum?? haha Nice gear and resume! Welcome (back?) to the site. Gig around bucks much? Si
18. The $$ are actually two humbuckers! They're pretty cool, they're 9v as opposed to the USA deluxe's 18v, and the Fender has two single coils. Oh and i also think, without checking, that the $$'s (i have a corvette) are 2band EQ So yeah, best idea is to go A/B them! Si
19. Like i said in a previous Fender post: A USA Jazz with S1 switching, J and P tones, thats what i use for covers anyway . Although i generally only use one sound, the sound i like, the crowds are generally to pissed to say "that bass tone he's got is a 70's whereas the song is 90's" or whatever lol I'm becoming increasingly interested in trying a lakland after this thread though, i don't think i've ever tried one.....ever! What would people say the DJ or JO has over a fender USA jazz? Cheers Si

I'm playing on both 11th and 18th, but again, if its kinda morning/mid to late afternoon its all good!! Cool Si
22. Everything suggested here is awesome...obviously. Scales & Modes are the building blocks of music fundamentally, but just practicing these in a linear fashion can be boring and probably the most un-musical thing you could do!. The practice technique that kind of opened it up for me was practicing with a looper pedal after being inspired by a couple of lessons with Steve Lawson, i'd loop a couple of chords in various rhythmical patterns and this helped scale practice achieve a bit of musicality, for me at least. The other thing is that groove is an odd one to try and teach! Its kind of like explaining hot or cold...its a feeling IMO. Rocco Prestia once said when asked 'What is the groove' he replied "Imagine a group of guys are walking down the street, all feeling and looking pretty cool, and one of them picks up a rock and puts it through a window......he just messed up the groove" A bit odd, but hey, he grooves like a futhermucker, so i'm not arguing! Good Luck! Si p.s. +1 for the above post, singing is a BRILLIANT way of writing/figuring out lines!
23. Yup, i should be at this! I gotta come from High Wycombe (south Bucks), how easy is it to get to, and park at canary Wharf? Or would it be better to get a train in to marylebone and tube it, bearing in mind the last train home is 12:10am Nice Si
24. I have a red Bronco, which are basically Squier MusicMasters i think. Nice little basses, picked it up for £50 as a project to make into a Piccolo bass, worked fine, still needs a little fine-tuning. Theres a recording of it on my myspace. Si
