Perhaps on the Deluxe i guess But my Standard USA, although 2nd hand, was absolutely mint when i got it, someone can't wear down the saddle screws that quick surely!? Well i've emailed Fender UK, so awaiting an opinion from them Si

I've used an ME-50B for the last year or so, although I've just stopped using it in a band setting as I've just got a standalone compressor. The Compressors in the ME-50B are great btw Yeah the FX are cool! I assume that most of the technology is based on the single pedals anyway, so its going to sound good. The tuner is my only real gripe, again the technology is probably the same as the TU-2, but its got less LED's, and so therefore is less accurate. I only really used it as an analog pedal, thats how its layed out, but it does have digital elements such as saving patch settings etc. But i have no time for that haha, much prefer my analogue stuff. And so if you need different FX during or between songs you need to physically bend down and turn the knobs or, like was mentioned above, get a latching footswitch. And you would need to program the settings for each effect to be remembered. However, if you literally only have 2 or 3 sounds for the band, that don't vary, then its perfect!! I use mine just for solo playing now. If i was giving it a score, i'd go for a 7/10 Cool Si

Its just a bit weird, that a couple of guys above said that a 1/16" should fit, but it doesn't on both basses. Do fender have their own sizes? Probably just email Fender UK in a sec Cheers Si

So i went out and bought a 5/64 allen key (19p lol).............to big!! Which means, on an imperial set the 1/16 is to small and the size above it, said 5/64, is to big!!! I asked the guy in the hardware shop what 1.4x40 meant, and he didn't know lol In the Immortal words of Timmy "Please help me!!!.........GOBBLES" Si

Mate, you can definitely find a Stingray for cheaper then £1400!! Just keep looking around! With regards to Yamaha, in my opinion you're not going to get anything close to a similar tone to a MM SR with any model, they're stuff is all well built and solid, but I'm not a fan! Si

ok cool, cheers well i was in wilko's briefly and saw a key set that was measured in inches, brought it on the offchance for 99p. The smallest size is 1/16" and is to small! :-s How does the measurement 1.5 x 40 fit in? On the Maplin imperial set above, do people think it would be the 5/64 size i need? Si

Oh really, didn't know that! Maybe the SUBs weren't selling well? Oh well, at least you'll e able to pick them up even cheaper now....discontinued model and all! :-D I use an OLP, albeit heavily modded hardware & pickups/electronics, for Drop C tuning in my band (until fender give me an endorsement....yeah right), and its wicked. But yeah, about 1 in 5 are any good. Mines got a slightly slimmer neck compared to alllll the others i tried when setting them up in the music shop i worked at. Si

Like Funk says above, it depends on your budget, but i'd go for a SUB (or any of the above suggestions) over an OLP..........unless u can try a load, they're a bit like mexi fenders, some are great, some are godawful. Si

Yes you need to have a CRB check, which the school provides the forms for, it costs about £10 i think, although my school payed for it. They take about 3 weeks to a month to go through! Oh and as far as i'm aware, you need to have a separate check for each establishment you work in! Si

Hey mate, i can't really give any advice as to how to get the job, the school i work at phoned me up out of the blue. But i will give u a couple of words of warning, its really different from teaching privately. Mainly the 20min lessons that most schools use! Thats when the pupils even turn up. I'm getting to the point now where i'm so fustrated with barely being able to sit down and ask how they are before they have to go again, that i'm thinking about just going back to private! Not that i want to put you off! Si

Well you can't go wrong with a Stingray!! Perhaps an alternative to that might be a Fender USA Precision Deluxe, has a Humbucker in the same place. Look around for second hand versions of both to ease that financial stumbling block The SUBS seem to get good reviews, but i havn't tryed one, as far as i'm aware you can get Active & Passive models, the active obviously being closer to the actual Stingray Sound. I do know though that the finishes they use on the bodies can put some off!. But whatever you decide.....stay away from the Variax!!! Please!!! haha Si

I've got two American Fender Jazz's, I've never had to adjust the action on my Standard so hadn't noticed, but on the Deluxe that I've just acquired i tried to raise the action and realised that the allan keys i had didn't fit! The smallest key was to small, and the next size up was to big. Then tryed it on my USA standard and same thing, then asked my housemate about his USA Tele, and same problem! Anyone have an idea? Si
