  1. If they are asking for a top notch candidate and this suits a top notch candidate then everyone wins , if they find no top notch candidate then they'll have to go to plan B . I can't see the problem , their straight forward ad will not mislead anyone and does not effect anyone not replying
  2. There are plenty of good musicians who for whatever reason aren't looking to gig that often , they might have a busy career in another profession and a busy family life , they might have been full on as a musician and just not wanting that anymore , 1000s of reasons . Most of being in a band is about finding other band members who are similar in what they want from a band at a particular time in their life . Being a slow paced band does not rule out being competent and professional , being a busy band does not automatically mean you'll be better than a slow paced one
  3. I don't think they are saying you can't be in other bands , just that they want you to able to attend some rehearsals
  4. One of the bands I've played with for a number of years only plays about that many gigs , advert seems reasonable for me , ideal for a busy person who gigs for fun and can't commit to a full on musical project
  5. Guitarists in one of my bands went Blackstar a few years back and it failed during a festival gig not long after he had brought it , he had nothing but trouble with it for a while . I know there's always going to be bad luck for a few even with the best products , but I get worried when I see them at gigs
  6. I'm happy not to use my phone to film or take pics at events , but I do want to be able to use it to text my kids should they need me , so I don't want it locked away
  7. Wishbone Ash played in my village hall , 1 min from my house about 2 years ago , they where great Good luck with the reunion
  8. Funny thing is "I look all white black my dad was black" but I have a half sister who could say "I look all black but my mum was white" 😀 Maybe use thr reverse lyric
  9. Song lyrics imo don't need to be PC , Brown Suger , Embarrassment etc all document real things. Just as actors can play aweful characters , singers can sing about aweful things and even from the "bad characters" point of view. It doesn't mean they think that way they are just telling a real story. There is a danger of taking anything real out of song lyrics , the charts are already like that .
  10. For me the statement is actually true Similar to Madnesses embarrassment , just drawing attention to the views of some , but not necessarily that of the writer or singer . I wouldn't worry about it but change it if you feel uncomfortable.

Neck is chunky but I've got a 70s spec precision which is similar so I knew what to expect , I've never really struggled with swapping from chunky to thinner necks they all seem playable to me. Strings and scale differences I have to get used to though
  12. Re the James Blunt comments I agree , I'm not into his music , but if he hosted a chat show I'd subscribe 100%
  13. Slightly of Topic but I only just found out the Guy from Boney M didn't sing on any records , it wa the German producers voice
  14. I love em , if it's our 80s band as mostly it's booked by people where the whole crowd are into 80s music General covers is hit and miss though
  15. I help at a youth club (since the council pulled the funding 2 years ago) , yep still called Youth Clubs and they are always in need of equipment.
  16. Do the likes of Glitter pay compensation to the victims out of their own funds ?

Thanks Lefty , I'm unlikely to do many more gigs before I have to retire from playing (hopefully I'll get to the end of the summer at least) but I'll persevere with these strings and look to use it at a gig on march I wanted to take it to my 80s gig on Saturday just gone but went with my stingray as I'm used to the 45-100 strings which I'm relaxed on Yep, it's got the first version of the Steve Harris pick ups , I'll get to use it in a rehearsal soon with a rock band so I'm looking forward to hearing it in that situation
  18. Personally I'd be put of listening to anyone with Gary Gilters rap (I did see him live 3 times and loved the shows). Having said that I know you can take this to any level you like regarding the behaviour of an artist or sportsperson etc so I'd not judge anyone who still listens to glitter just because it puts me off his music Listening to someone doesn't make you like them after all Also , I'm not sure if his band get anything out of sales etc but it's a shame for the band they also have been written off by many . I suppose it's like one hit wonders who where on TOTP with Savile , they'll never get aired again on reruns despite it not being their fault

Do it , this bass is quality and looks lovely I just need to decide to get used to the heavy strings and keep it that way or set it up with my usual choice of medium flats
  20. I can't read , wish I could but never did learn The one thing I struggle with when playing as the only non reader at rehearsals is when they say "let's from bar 88" me "err you mean the end of the 2nd chorus" Apart from that , I can learn the songs from recordings as well as any readers (who often come under prepared as they rely on reading) Please don't take this as negative comment against learning to read , Id advise anyone starting out to do it
  21. Seem to remember reading or watching something where Noel Redding suggested his departure was soon after he started asking too many questions about money Re Chris Squires video , Noel may well have had a hard time learning parts from that kind of communication, but that doesn't mean (and didn't in this case) that once you know them you don't play them fanatically well
  22. Iron Maiden insisted on being live on their first appearance , apparently they where the first to do it in almost 10 years since the who in the early 70s
  23. There's no reason I can see other than the feeling they bring , its emotional , just like the love of music . I personally get it and buy into it but can understand why some people don't. Although I like the look of roadworn or older mojo'd instruments , it's odd this doesn't apply to other things , for example you don't advertise a classic car with songs and worn paint as a positive thing , but we can with guitars
