  1. PRICE NOW £550 plus p&p 70s style Fender Precision CIJ with US pickups. Built in 1993/4 Unique feature is that it has reversed pickups fitted from factory (i.e. It's totally clean under the pick guard). Very good condition , a couple of small marks on the end of the headstock. Lovely solid , well built and finished 70s style P bass. Collection preferred (location KT10) but can arrange to ship in an old hard case for protection (which has broken catches) at buyers expense , this bass however really needs to be seen to be appreciated, it will not disappoint. Pictures done by me on my phone and don't really do it justice (for example the darker patches must be a trick of the light) Will be sold with a set of used but fairly new roundwound strings on
  2. Big crowd of my guitar playing rock loving friends went , ages ranging from 50s to teens , they all loved it and said the bass player was the outstanding musician
  3. I'll take a look thanks for that
  4. Thanks all and to answer why I'd like noise cancelling over std is so I can be in the same room as others and the music won't annoy them plus for me I don't hear background noise spending a lot of time lying down and in and out of hospital visits and stays
  5. Can anyone recemmond a good pair of over ears noise cancelling headphones , most seem to be wireless but I'm happy with cords , and in fact even if they are wireless would like a cord option Seems like a minefield out there so would welcome any bass chaters reviews £200 budget , unless that is not realistic for decent music quality and good noise cancelling in both directions thanks for any help
  6. Thanks , I'm getting a few suggestions together for my friends son , so him and his dad can ask me what to go after , I've sent them links so hope to get some instructions later if they are interested , I'll let you know thanks again
  7. I'm trying to source a bass for a friends son , sorry if I've missed in the text but where are you based ? Sorry just re read so would have to be postage for us
  8. Wall saves floor space but I do both
  9. One of my favourite Gene Chandler tracks , shows you can play straight and still be funky
  10. If you've an electronic kit then really it's possible to play at a volume level to suit the pub , acoustic drums played in anger are too much for most pubs imo As other have said it's more about the quality than the quantity , we've done with 4 speakers before but with 2 pointed back as floor monitors , 4 as FOH sound does sound OTT
  11. Mozzoforte were from Iceland , maybe the Icelanders slapped before anyone in the U.K. Did ?
  12. It all started for me when I heard "Cool Jerk" in the mid 80s whilst at school , I then got deeper into northern soul , and into the funk stuff , think my first funk record was a Headhunters album , and for Disco introduction I brought Saturday Night Fever and got almost bullied for it 😀
  13. As I funk , soul and disco fan who was only a toddler in the 70s I like this thread, nothing new with regards to bands for me but to hear you guys where playing and heard this stuff first hand is exciting. My route in was through Northern Soul
  14. Yep same here Line 6 G30 , even with the dodgy battery door (duck tape) the electronical side of it has been faultless for many gigs
  15. People have sports cars , motorbikes and golf clubs etc , don't but new unless you can afford the depreciation and always look at your gear as cash assets that could be sold if the bad times come . Until they do your gear is just like cash in the bank.
  16. Not sure , ive not understood some of the replies , are we trying to figure out who was the first U.K. Born bassist to record slapping ?
  17. Nice The Average White Band where formed in 74 I believe , maybe they popped the first UK bass note ?
  18. Sorry I'm a little late on reporting but played Burrfest 2018 the other week which is a charity event run by and for Maiden Fans. Really lovely crowd so glad I did this
  19. Are we looking for the first disco player or first player to slap ? Love the high tension video
  20. I've no idea what the difference is compared to a standard set of the same gauge. I would buy them if I wanted to replace the strings but only because I'd want to keep my signature bass as it was from the factory , but I would not buy them for any of my other basses
  21. It's an interesting question , I've no idea who was the first live or recorded UK funk player . I've got the latest Album by the revived "Atmosfear" and they started recording in the late 70s didn't they ?
