1. I currently run 2xDB210 against 2xAE112 and the DB's are better for me. They fill the stage better and have a much more pleasant low B and they produce the higher end more smoothly. The AE's are lighter and quite solid but there is something lacking compared to the DB's.. Whether I would be quite as aware of this if the DB's weren't bought first or whether, had I bought AE112's first, would I have gone after anything else, I am unsure.. but as it stands, the DB210's negate the need to me to have 2x112. I am happy that I can run the two rigs..and the lighter rig has its uses and it is by no means poor by any stretch and it gets complements but for me, it is deffo second best to the 2x210. It is a lighterwieght rig and you can sum it up as being a lighter weight sound..but we are talking about small margins here.
2. NNNOOOOOO..!!!
3. [sup]If it had an action like that I wouldn't even pick it up.[/sup]
4. Why would you need to do this. I think the time would be better spent cleaning up your technique elsewhere.
5. If you find mackie get the older better made models. RCF over Mackie and there is HK and HK
6. My problem with markbass is they go loud enough but not in a way I can like. At low volume they are great. Before you give up on that combo make sure you understand how the filters work as they are key. Zero the main eq dials to 12 and then use the filters from 9-3 o clock and see if that works. My other prob is the cabs are less convincing but a lot of SWR users go markbass.
7. My 2x210's slay my 2x112's and no matter how much I might prefer it isn't so.... Actually it doesn't really matter..... that is the way it is and that is all there is to it. IMO.
8. It is not going to work. If this was a one-off then everyone can have a bad day but if this is reocurring then it should have shown improvement by now. It is what it is and you can either live with it or you can't but you will never work much so what is the point?
9. Don't know what you guys are on about, tbh.... the girl will do..as long as you pick tracks for the market rather than what you want to funk out on. She is attractive and can hold a tune ... just give her a chance to shine rather than the band as she will be the focal point so why hamstring her...? Forget Chaka Khan..as that is a step too far for 99.9% of girls and does your market care about those sort of songs ?... great track but not a corporate gig must-do. The best functions bands I know...are slick on their presentation more than the music itself..as in some ways that is secondary. I think you need to fill out the BV's to get top hotel work but you'll do fine if everything else is in place. You might need more than one main vocal as well..as girls can get very tiring to listen to all night. This girl has more about her voice but you still might need a change and tbh..you probably need another instrument. If you added a second main vox with an instrument... you'd easily get that back in the fee, IMO. As long as the overall sound, general kit and approach is pro, the playing, IME..is the least of it. Strange but true. As a promo..I think it will serve a purpose with an agent rather than direct corporate clients as it isn't slick enough for them. A chilled filmed rehearsal situation isn't what they will want to see, IMO, so stills might work better on an actual gig but it depends what money you are going for. £16-2000 will pitch you against some good outfits who have everything sorted and already have the gigs. You have to present as well or better than them... and you may blow them off musically..or not, but that isn't what make the difference..it is vox and material and the ability to turn virtually every gig your way. People pay money because they know what the bottom line will be..and nothing is left to much of a chance.
10. Never saw a Wembley show with anything other than P-Bass and SWR. He may have had a few other cabs up there,
11. One of those views and no replies was me as I was at work. Will give it a blast later.
12. Used to use or showcase on stage an SWR Goliath and Big Ben stack x2, so would probably run that with 2 SM900's
13. and you are working late..???
14. Doesn't work at all for me... looks to be trying too hard and it fails woefully. Quilted is ok...but you need to let the figure come out not cover it up. You would most likely miss all that feature more than a few mtrs away so there is no point. People like Petersen and Sadowsky do this stuff so much better aesthically, IMO. Null point.....totally misses the mark
15. IMO, you get the balance right. So, when do we get to see this product around here..?
16. They look decent enough. ...as does the Baer. The rest look very poor to me and whilst I accept that one man bands can't cover all bases in terms of so-called excellence all the way through to aesthetics and even crap websites.. they still amount to flaws in design from one perspective or another, so why on earth pay top dollar for the entire package. It is like going to see a band with a great gtr, but the rest of the guys are average.... it brings the whole product down to the level of the lowest common denominator.
17. If you are asking me..then I'll make a mistake...sure..but last night they came about as I was getting too fancy with the light show so that is down to lack of concentration... which 90% probably are. And considering the horrible room we had..low beams and slim enclosed which made on stage sound not that great, I think it went well, all things considering. You have to be even more on your toes when the sound isn't ideal.
18. No excuse for them tho..either lack of concentration...most likely.. or you can't play what you went for.
19. Seems like you aren't hearing the song and you rely too much on getting sequences right rather than just playing what you hear. If you can't remember where to go when, you need to write it down and read it.
20. Great gig and very well attended. Bar still trying to chuck people out way past closing. Always a good sign when people hang around afterwards and don't want the evening to end..
21.
So i ordered my er-20s through mp3 company online, went to get impressions done but my ears were too blocked! Got them syringed, and asked the nurse if ok for imprezsions to be taken, and got a resounding 'yes!' . Back to the audiologist, and theyre too blocked again! 65%! Going for another syringe but now im nervous they wont as you can see my eardrum and theres increased risk of perferation! Anyone else had this problem? Got som 20s to tide me over, and may not even get a full refund cause of the audiologist appointments that lasted all of 90 seconds! Aaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!
Just had mine syringed and they are supposed to be as clear as they can be...arranging for impressions this week so need to keep ears clear with olive oil. I couldn't believe what stuff came out though.... no wonder I couldn't hear much...!!!
22. No love for the Marbass cabs then..??
23. Don't see or hear a problem with lighter gauges. I run low action with lighter strings so you have to use a light touch. The benefits of all this is that you don't fight the bass so much... don't tire, don't stress. and I am pretty sure being kinder to the hands will pay dividends longer in your playing life....with regards to hand problems etc etc
24. My basse are good for sustain.. and the key is to have them on most fretted notes
25. 40-118..but I'll use a 120 or 125 ..or have done. I like tapered core so I get them custom wound on all strings...it is working atm.
