hmmm I have a brand new 12" driver from Aguilar which goes in their GS and DB cabs. The GS cab is tuned is deep and full ( scooped) and the DB more round with a better mid presense, IMO. You could use them as a template for your cab. I would suspect that Berg use the same sort of driver but disguised from the off the shelf range.. as most manufacturers tend to do. I guess it is reasonabale to stop people copying so easy all the 'RnD' work....

Our keyboards use one to put his rack on..which has C-Audio amps in it so they aren't light. I'd guess it weighs more than 50lbs. It is a bugger to lift one handed and the rack has wheels on it.. It does the job but doesn't look sturdy enough.

FB is just another element of media share. I think it is useful, but it shouldn't replace a website where you can host your own videos and tracks etc far better, IMO. I wouldn't take a band that seriously if all they had was a myspace webiste...does anyone do that..?? or a FB page. When I talk to bookers about bands on bills, the first thing I say if that is the band hasn't got its act together regarding a good web profile, so you can judge them from that ..to a degree..then they aren't likely to be together anywhere else. I have a festival bill coming together and we were looking at complimentary bills for the two days... and the booker told me he was going to see a band in St Albans... FFS..!! the gig is in East Kent... and all he could tell me was that someone recommneded them.. No name, no website, nothing..!! I can't believe he will travel all that way with nothing to go on. And he says another one is from Essex. I have no idea what sort of draw they will be....

Apart from a link here and there, does anyone host their music on their band FB page..? we use it...badly, admittedly, to plug in socially from a gig POV... Our website has better links....but of course, we link across to that. It depends how you want/need to use FB. For us, it is a blog/status report with a bit of Info.

Probably a decent enough reference but no payback from them.. so too much effort for little return..??

We are crap at FB, so could do with more than a few likes http://www.facebook....30628893?v=info

Only seen their LIVE videos but I would say this should be a good gig. They have a stadium set of tunes to get the crowd involved and the tunes are pretty decent as well. Not a No 1 fan myself but the band will be good. The only issue is how good is his voice these days... but the crowd will be singing those soaring parts anyway and they ( the band ) will make a feature of it. Will not be a bad gig, IMO..

The only thing you want to avoid is extreme angles on the core. But...I am a big fan on tapered core and have all my strings made like that. They certainly do sustain well and the strings are defined down to the B... but whther that is the core or the strings in general, I am not soooo sure. But they work..
Once found either a Behringer or PV (cant remember which for sure - the amp on top was the other one of those two - if you get my drift) 810 in a rehearsal room. I bought my rack and plugged it in to this thing and it was just shockingly poo, no definition, no bottom, no punch and pants all volume for a cab the size of an African dictatorship - not much fun!
Have heard there is not a lot of differnces at all in some components used in both of these amps... and a few other s. This came from an amp tech who has had to work on them.

Ist decent valve amp I had as it actually had tone and a tad of EQ. Far superior to the Marshall head I had before it. No idea what the new ones are like...and frankly, not sure I'd want to find out, but the old one was a very powerful amp for the time. No idea what a 70's Hiwatt bass amp would cost today, but it would be the one I'd look at if I was interested in that sort of thing. The Matamps might be a better bet over SVT's and 400's... but I'd add a DB7 type amp to that sort of list. Not fully valve, but no lack of b******* AT ALL...!!
Apparently these fit into the Aguilar DB type tonal area. Bonus. At that weight, with Bergs high quality, I'm quite excited!
I thought that from KJ's comments... Interesting...

Good result all round. Well done. -
I fancy his HD/NV range and would swap my NEO's for them in 12"'s I have 210's very well covered anyway.
-
Can't determine which is which in the pics... but hope it is wide enough to take a normal head.
-
I use both my basses ..and the one thing that stops me looking very hard for another is the fact that it isn't feasible to carry more than two on the gigs I do. If I commision another, I'll have to decide which one to sell... I like to play, not collect...

I think Aguilar are on the right lines these days and a bit more focused..AND funded.. than the studio niche they used to be..for sure but even back then, they weren't short of quality or fans/users, in the know.... I am told the AC500..and the TH, for that matter, stack up favourably with the DB amps...which puts them in very good company indeed, IMO. I have used both a TH amp ( once ) and the pre amp box and they are good... but the thing that should set them all apart from the DB amps is the power stage. Anyone paying on decent stages, should look at one of the DB amps..IMO. Not light amps...and I have no idea where they get 40lbs from. I'd guess they are closer to 60lbs racked and they aren't for tiny places either,... Top top amps though...
-
Crikey...made my £800 Bergs seem a good deal. Admitedly that was SH, but they were mint with Berg covers. Still not the best cabs in my house tho...IMO. Maybe that 610 isn't such bad value now...!!!! Useful review though ..
I can't see much point in adding frequencies if you're struggling with boomyness. Surely it makes sense to cut the troublesome frequencies then add what you want....No ??
You need a clean sound to start with..that means the sound will tend to be light in the first instance.
-
I also think the kit is not delivering. Root and branch rethink, maybe. FWIW, I think a clean balanced bass sound is the start point. Couple that with a clean technique and the amp and cab combo has less work to do in fixing/compensating the sound as all you have basically got to do is amplify it. If the sound needs a little more... and little is always 'more' then you don't complicate things too much. I have never really been a fan of having to get the cab off the ground artifically and if you can't hear the bass then there are a lot more problems soundwise that you should be getting into. Clean sounds and clean band mix should do it...but by the same token, you can get sh**y rooms and it is your choice whether you want to play there. I also start from the point of adding sounds as getting rid of low frequencies is the wrong way to approach it.
-
I don't use mine on one bass as the other one doesn't have. It goes thru batteries as well which also puts me off. I just make sure the lights are configured well... and this sorts 90% of the problems
I have no idea if this will help but, if the seller is my my area, I am happy to collect the bass and sort out delivery. I have no idea who the seller is and so would not need to know their identity (either in real life or on here). If they're having some problems which are a distraction from fulfilling the obligation to the OP then I sympathise but would also want the OP to get his bass. I doubt the cost of delivery would bankrupt me and if it would help both parties then it seems a worthwhile cost too. Any party can PM me on this and I would happily do this without any further reference to this on BC.
Nice offer. -
'77 Fender Jazz. and I can't believe the money it would go for now.... which is the joke of the centuary..
Changing from two 410s to two 112s...
will be a big change then....

Looking to replace my ABM 410 with a new 4x10 Suggestions??
JTUK replied to spud19870's topic in Amps and Cabs
You won't find a better 4x10 than a Barefaced 2x12 in my opinion, they are a bit expensive, but well worth it, and arguably better than any 2x12s on the market! I was very skeptical, as I've used nothing but 4x10s for many years. But I can honestly say I currently own the best cab I've ever had. Have a read on the Barefaced website about why a 2x12 works better than a 4x10. You read that right by the way, 1200W, a one hand lift, fits in the boot of a polo with the seats up!
You better like 12's more than 10's then..... There is a world of difference in my decent 12's and decent 10's..and anyone who says they do the same job sound wise, has cloth ears IMV. Fair enough if you prefer 12's or 15's or whatever but they don't sound the same.... IMO.
