What overwater do you have woodster? x
I've got the Fiesta Red PJ 5 in my avatar and also a 5 string Jazz deluxe in blue..... Enjoy the process, I promise you won't be disappointed. I'm excited for you!! Chris
2. Wot eeee said..... Both my Ow's have got Easts in them, J-retro and P-retro. they are simply amazing.
3. There is an old phrase amoungst motorcyclists that says "if you've got a £50 head, get a £50 helmet" Personally, I have used gig bags for years as they are way more convenient for travelling but obviously offer less protection than a hard case so you really need to get as good a bag as you can afford.... Ive had double bags ranging in price from £50 Warwicks and Peaveys, through £70 Ritters and I now use a £200 Mono.... I have to say the level of protection the Mono offers is way above the others but I guess, for the price, it would NEED to! The more affordable bags are good but if you really value your instruments, splash out. You won't regret it.
4.
I'd love to know what a "proper" Overwater owner's opinion is of these Tanglewood made ones. Any Overwater owners had a go of them yet? (Although not that it matters much as the one I bought is 100% spot on for what I want in a bass.)
Let's just say they are not as far away from the custom models as the price might suggest......
5. I use this exercise from Adam Nitti in my lessons. I just use a bassline appropriate to the student's ability.
6.
The Fender was a really good tuner plus it used to do the Knight Rider sweep of the LEDs from left to right if it wasn't getting a signal for a certain period.
I've got the SWR version, basically the same tuner but in a different case and the LED's are blue.... I get more comments about the 'Knight Rider' strobe than my playing!!
7.
Nearly as good as 'Bloody hell, wasn't it in tune when you bought it'?
I actually used this in a session yesterday.....
8. "It'll sound much better once there's a few people in here...." No it wont....
9. Does this help....? http://www.fclefbasses.com/News-article-sid-9-mode-thread.html
10. Another vote for the Grolsch washers..... Cheap, no mods required AND you get a beer in the deal!!!

12. I've got one that says... "You would notice if I stopped playing"
13. I had a TRB 6 that i bought new in around '94 / '95 and I think that was around £850 then. Kept it for 5 yrs and gigged it all over the world. Had nothing but compliments about it, including the engineer at the mean fiddler in London saying it was the best bass sound he'd heard!! Wish I'd kept it.....
14. If you are self-employed, you can't currently apply for a CRB check on yourself. Only an employer or umbrella organization can apply for a check on you. If you don't know something, don't guess.... It WILL bite you on the ass! Simply say something like "I'm not sure about that, but I will find out for next time" Teaching can be really rewarding but very hard at times too. You need to constantly modify your methods and your ways of explaining things coz some students will understand something and others won't. It's pretty intense to start with but it gets easier the more you do it. Good luck!
Hey guys, I'm not far off finishing my BMus (Hons) Degree and I am looking at going into private tuition. Starting off, how do I get CRB checked? and is it essential? And also I have the same worry as I'm sure a lot of people do....What happens if the student asks me about something that I'm not sure about? And lastly any general tips from you guys? Thanks Bass Bro's, Greg
15. Are the rest of the band only getting £50 for the wedding gig? Not being all diva-like but that's gonna be like 7+hrs work for that money.... Seems incredibly low for a wedding booking? Hope the money's being split evenly and youre not being diddled..?
16. I use Monster Cables exclusively and have done for many years..... My jury is still out as to whether they sound any better than other cables i have tried but I do know that I've been using the same 2 cables (bass-fx, fx-amp) since 1994 with NO let downs. Monster have got a pretty bad rap on here in the past, some of it justified due to their over zealous protection of the word 'monster', but purely on my experience of their products, i'd recommend them.
17. 'Liked' and followed..... Orangestreetska....
18. I had exactly the same fault with mine and it went back to Tascam. I think they re-flashed the memory or something like that but they didn't charge me except for what it cost for me to post it to them. I dealt with a guy called Gary Maguire, if that helps...
19. "it'll sound loads different when there's people in here" No it won't...
20. Played Neil Murray's Bogart in the Gallery, back in the day.... I remember it well, the neck was soooo fast!!!
21.
In passive mode, which controls still work besides the volume? Presumably the 'active blend' doesn't work any more, so how do you mix the pickup outputs? Any tone controls still available?
I've got A P-Retro in my Overwater PJ and it's incredible!! In Passive mode, Vol (obviously) tone and pickup blend all work. Only the active tone stack is disabled. Edited for spelling...
22. East East East East East East East East....
