1. I use Emubands and have always had a great service. Upfront fee, £25 for 1 track, £35 for EP and £50 for album, but 100% royalties. Worth looking at them... www.emubands.com
2. I learned the bass by studying every bass line of every song Madness recorded, up to and including the acrimonious Keep on Moving album. There are many wonderful lines in their catalogue which inspired me from age 11 right through my formative years. I would say I owe Mark Bedford a huge debt.
3. I use a bass safe and I have 2 bags that fit. I have a Peavey double bag (with one bass in) and also a Warwick Rockbag. I find there's still loads of room down the sides for leads, mics and tee shirts! My Mono M80 double bag won't fit, even with just 1 bass in but the Peavey is really slim.
4. Not me directly but I did a gig supporting Chris 'out of time' Farlowe. There was a film company there who were in the process of making a documentary about him and in the dressing room our clueless singer asked Chris what all the cameras were for. "They're making a documentary about me", Chris said. Our singer replied.... "Why? Who are you?"
5.
I always thought Pino played on New York Minute. Either way, really nice playing and both very versatile players.
Pino played on Henley's original recording, Timmy Schmit played on the Hell Freezes Over, Eagles version.
6. I have a Gruv Gear Fump which works very well!! http://www.gruvgear.com/fump
7. I have East pre-amps in 3 of my basses, including a J retro, J-retro deluxe (with additional tone control) and a P-retro. They are fantastic pre-amps, powerful and flexible with so many useable tones. I highly recommend them!

9. That's true! Latest post says $225.... https://www.facebook.com/PhilJonesPureSound/posts/10203954292457875
10. Phil says it should be sub $200 so even with the US equipment exchange rate of £1 = $1 it should be reasonable. I've been considering a change to two 1x12s for more flexibility (and my aging back) but this still seems like a cool but of kit.
11. As someone who always seems to be jammed against my 4x10, I'm quite excited by this new gadget from Phil Jones https://www.facebook.com/PhilJonesPureSound/videos/10203599356304693/ Thoughts?
12. Thanks MBA, that gives me a plan! Much appreciated!
13. I'm not sure if I'm going mad but I suspect only one of the 4 cones is actually doing anything. There's no flapping or farting noises but the sound does seem a little compressed at times and doesn't have the punch I'm used to. Anyone else had this? It's a 4-ohm version so are the speakers wired in series and I may have a wire off?
14. ^ This is what forms a large part of my income. With studio hire rates being pretty steep, time is literally money....
15. For the same reason you presumably can't play the Patagonian nose flute.... you've never been taught how. The voice is an instrument with its own mechanics and techniques, take a lesson and see how quickly you can make the noises you hear in your head.
16. I use a piece of software called Stage Plot Pro. It's really simple, has loads of pre drawn instruments, monitors and mics.... You can add input lists and monitor mixes and save it as a JPEG or pdf. www.stageplot.com
17. And Russ Kunkel, from Carole King's Tapestry album, on drums.
18. I think there are a lot of inactive artists on there!
19. If the initial cost is prohibitive, try Dizzyjam. You upload artwork and your fans order merch direct. Dizzyjam then send you a share of the price. Www.dizzyjam.com
20. I use 'em and yeah, they're easy to put together!
21.
Wow. My dreambass😊
Mine too!
22. Andrea Goldsworthy
23.
Important question - what was the green box on Dave Swift's amp? Not a DI or preamp??
It's a controller for a sub bass platform that Dave stands on.
24. I recently spent a day at Bass San Diego and played 4 different Foderas (and an Alembic SII) and I must say I loved them. I played a YY standard 4, an Emperor Std 5 fretless, a Monarch 4 custom and a MG custom. The playability was incredible and the sound was sublime. My ONLY concern was that, apart from the aesthetics, I couldn't tell the difference between a $6K standard and a $15K custom. I would have one in a heartbeat and the AJ Presentation II in holly remains my dream axe!!
25. I thought the 'big band' arrangement of Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud was awful. From the look on Ed's face, he thought so too!
