I go between finger style and plectrums but I always keep at the same length. I used to play down by my knees back when I was cool but these days it sits slightly lower than if I were sitting down. I'd have no issues changing mid set, you do what you have to do. Whatever works. I emailed them yesterday & was impressed they replied today. I like the look of the Memphis one although that headstock is a bit too [i]rock[/i] for my tastes. Never seen one in real life though

It was shipped from Houston, TX but I don't suppose it is USA made. Could be I suppose but I've always assumed it's from the Bluegrass Republic of China. They do pop up on EBay but not as common as they should be. It's a great bass and for the money it was an absolute steal

Vintage & Rare Guitars in Bath blew it for me a few years ago when I was asking about 51 P-basses and the guy was really snooty saying they didn't exist. I've seen some good stock since but that left a bad taste in my mouth. They are not the cheapest but they do have a good reputation. Equally not cheap but prone to 100% genuine stuff is [url="http://www.classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/basses.htm"]http://www.classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/basses.htm[/url] - but not a "shop" as such. You can go and try stuff if you are serious though. All by appointment. I've bought from him a couple of times

I think most musicians go through similar. I had a phase in my late teens where there were a couple of dry spells. At the time it felt like it went on forever but actually the longest break was about 9 months. Stay positive and something will come along.

Those Eastwood basses do look good. This months Guitarist has a GAK ad with a Gretsch bass in stock although it's not online

I don't listen to a lot of music with bass as a lead instrument but I do like to hear it occasionally. The one that stands out for me is the warts and all production job on The Byrds Live at the Royal Albert Hall 1971 CD that came out a year or two ago with SKip Battin soloing on Eight Miles High

I knew they were all great players but the moment for me is when they interview the tambourine player and he shows us what he can do.

As a personal view I think there is more choice now then ever & you can't go too far wrong with many of the practice amps out there these days. This certainly wasn't the case when I started

I remember seeing these about at the time. I think the MIMs initially tried to up their game by offering funky colours. More recently the modifications have been to improve playability but I remember these being good fun
