Won't help, but would recommend a listen to Dave Bainbridge's Celestial Fire album. Dave is, and always has been, just a prodigy, but he's worked stupidly hard as well. I had the honour of going to school with him, and being in a couple of bands with him in the 70's. I was 17, he was 16, the band did a night club in Darlington. We did America (The Nice version). At 16, on a little Fender Rhodes, Dave did the lot. Currently on tour in America playing keys for The Strawbs, his main squeeze is IONA, although he did the Queens thing in the Park, played for Jack Bruce and countless others. He does a lot with GB3 as well. When I was with Troyen, he offered to put some keys on if we sent the master over to his studio. The other three muppets declined his offer . Phenomenal musician and one of the nicest guys you will meet. AND STILL CHAMPIONING PROG https://www.youtube....h?v=12isbLP8Sf0 https://www.youtube....h?v=Xn31A36Dp8Q If you like prog, buy Celestial Fire by Dave Bainbridge

Gibson at Thomann*INTERESTING UPDATE*/Bargains to be had...
karlfer replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Bass Guitars
It is a shame Gibson don't do a few more colours in basses. I had a white '84 Explorer bass for donkey's years. And it had a proper bridge.Still regret selling it. The Silverburst and Tobacco burst RI's just didn't tempt me at all. Now, a Sea Foam Green TBird OR Explorer, with single chrome covered pup would certainly get the credit card out -
Fri night, great. Last night, PITA. Get there "we'll clear the area when the football finishes". 300 other bloody screens in the place but she wouldn't let us ask them to relocate. Most of them being in since early afternoon. Then of course, boxing on in the 1st set. By the time that was finished they were all pissed up, half asleep and going home. So we end up doing 2nd set to about 20. No wonder loads of bands (according to thread on North West Bands) had mysteriously had to cancel Sat night gigs .

Great playing as ever Mark. Sounds a lot better than when I was abusing it.
They do limited production runs of p basses with jazz necks every now and then. Hasn't the Nate Mendel signature got a Jazz neck?
No, the Nate is 40mm, between J and P. P/J's pups, Precision body, jazz neck for me live. Mostly P pup solo'd but J blended in a touch when the song dictates. Oh and, green. Much better tone from green

As per title, two tone burst, this is the '57RI with raised A pole, nitro, 1.75 inch nut, C shape neck. V serial no, made in 2012. DAFT light at just on 8lbs. Good condition but it's nitro so two nasty little chips and a couple of tiny can't photo chips and a little bit of "certain light" scuffing on the back. The last one to sell on here was an immaculate re-fin at £1000, hence my price. £1000 collected. Meet up, no charge between Carlisle/Leeds/ just North of Brum. Extra £45 UK insured courier. Apologies for the photos, was trying to beat the next bit of monsoon. These are now discontinued, the replacement '58RI sells at around £1550. The original GG case is in the loft, enshrined in a blanket, it will be included. I'm going to put a link on with some owner reviews, plus one of the very few You Tube reviews I can find. These seem to be very well thought of by owners. This is the last of my wide necks (except the Rick), so would ideally like; 64 American Vintage Jazz RI (Sonic Blue FSR would be ace ) 75 American Vintage Jazz RI Any trial in Wigan, your rig or mine. Feedback linked at bottom of post. Thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. Mark is the funniest guy on Basschat with a wicked sense of humour. I always enjoy his posts. His reviews are superb as well. So, he doesn't need this, but I've just done a deal with Mark. Everything was absolutely spot on and I think it's the most I've laughed in any transaction. They don't come any better than this geezer, fully recommended and a pleasure to deal with. All the best looney tunes, if you are reading this
Damn it, that is exactly, and I mean EXACTLY, the bass I'm in the market for right now!
NickH, there is a lovely black/maple one, in Strood, linked on following page, lovely guy called Philip Niechoj. Bit pricier, but I'm sure you could discuss that with him https://www.facebook.com/groups/UKBassgear/ Good luck.

Need to move this bass on. They don't come up very often, I will provide links to both spec and a video demo (the guy is using the 5 string version but you will get the drift ) Price wise, well, it's around what US Jazzes are going for, and less than Millers seem to be going out. And £725 is only a bit less than what it owes me Good condition. Issues, well a couple of tiny dints you really have to look for. THE MAIN thing is previous owner has had the neck off a some time. When putting it back on, they have tightened up too much and cracked the poly lacquer at both sides of the heel where it joins the neck. Not exactly unheard of on Fenders. It would originally have had a tortie plate, sorry, I don't have that. It's Amber lacquer (really, just a darker sort of natural) which only seems to have been available 2004/2007. Quite light for an Ash body at 9lb 2oz. ACTIVE only. http://www.andertons...-maple-neck.asp https://www.youtube....h?v=-leasqdec1o TRADE. Barefaced Gen 3 Super Twin. My feedback is at bottom of the post. Any trial in Wigan, your rig or mine. I will meet up within 100 mile radius of Wigan. UK mainland insured courier will be an extra £35. Many thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. *WITHDRAWN* Lakland Bob Glaub (44-64) White/Maple
karlfer replied to discreet's topic in Basses For Sale
Of course you can do better photos, many folk have commented that I am to photography what the Gobi is to competetive angling . Anybody interested in this lovely bass, well, it is likely to be the only White Lakland Bob Glaub Skyline you will see. They only come in Black, Natural and Sunburst. So, you have the option of the much more expensive US, or a re-fin. If I'd kept it, it would have gained a black pearl scratchplate. Unlike discreet, I liked the shallow front to back, it was the nut width I couldn't get on with. A couple of years back, this would have gone in a day or so, at over £600. And they are harder to get hold of now. Somebody will be very happy with this great bass. -

Gutted this didn't work out for Mark, it really is a nice bass. Until he comes along with a good photo, here's something to get along with -
It's not a BASS guitar show. It's a guitar show. I've been to them in Crewe, Formby and Haydock. The one at Formby had 4, yes, 4 basses. Haydock will have more, but at £7 entry, not for me.
If you have a local model engineers society (the sort of old guys that like to build miniature steam engines) I'm sure someone would be able to whip up a new ferrule from a bit of brass and identify the correct thread for a replacement machine screw. If you are really OCD, and would be unable to live with an unplated brass ferrule, just buy a new tuner.

Karl - you are not the first person this has happened to! These 'tension' screws have a habit of working loose and escaping so it is always worth a regular check and tighten if necessary. I lost one on Custom Shop Classic and ending up getting in contact with Fender UK who were very helpful and sourced the replacement. If you don't get any joy with them, feel free to let me know and I'll see if I still have the email trail...........but it was quite a while ago! David.
Many thanks fellas, I'm on the case cheers, Karl.

Hope somebody can help. I've placed a wanted ad, but just in case anybody has any ideas. 2005 American Deluxe Precision. On the rear, bottom, of each tuner is a tiny screw that goes into the bottom of the tuner shaft. The screw goes through a little ferrule, the photo shows better than my ramblings. Right tuner complete, left tuner missing bits. Tried Allparts and Brabin and Rudd, but looks like I'm going to have to buy a complete tuner for 2 tiny bits. Schaller part no 006-3547-000 Any suggestions would be great please, cheers, Karl.
