Quit my band ,best decision I've made in years
karlfer replied to kevvo66's topic in General Discussion
One of our guitarists quit the band today. I have no intention of acknowledging it. It will get a mention on the Facebook page when his name gets removed and that will be about it.
So, you wouldn't have the courtesy of acknowledging an email of resignation? Perhaps that may be indicative of one of the reasons the guitarist left. Well, each to their own standards I guess. I wish they would take my name off the Facebook page. And stop putting photos of me on it. They were quick enough to cancel my admin duties on it. -

Well done that man. I quit one of the 2 bands I was in, four weeks ago. Two of the members have not even acknowledged it. No announcement on Facebook page. Important me, eh -
SOLD (traded). Sandberg Electra TT4 (jazz style). £320
karlfer replied to karlfer's topic in Basses For Sale
Thanks guys . Link to a review of the Precision version from this range, by one of our own. Hope you don't mind Adee. Can't find a whole lot on the jazz style, certainly not in English. Sandberg Electra VS4 ....... New bass day ! - Basschat Couple of pm's but I'm a bit surprised to be honest, thought this would have gone very quickly, a bass as good as this, at this price. Might have to keep it rather than lose anymore. Unless anybody has Attitude Special of course Cheers, Karl. -
Maybe buy an acoustic bass for home noodling, or something..? I know how it is though, sometimes I feel like jacking it all in and becoming a goat farmer in Venezuela.
And we all know why He's right though Rhys.

Very nice Sandberg budget bass, NOT the full fat German one (what, at this price ). Continuing clearing out stuff that isn't vital. Korean parts, assembled and QCd in Germany. Bass Direct have them new at around £550. Lightish at 8lb 8oz. PLEK'D..... not many in this price bracket have that. Zero fret (as above). Active/passive. Great bridge. Easy to set up to your requirements The finish on these will very definitely go road worn! This does have a couple of chipped bits. Nothing bad. There will be a couple of links below. Lots of reviews, in German and Japanese Stick with the You Tube one, it does stop being a slap fest! Feedback linked at end of thread, thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. Sold. Genz Benz rig, Streamliner 600, 2 x Focus112LT

The clear out continues and this rig is no longer needed. I will post links to specs fo the head and the cabs below. The cabs links has video (#2) with Ed Friedland playing a Streamliner 900 through a pair of these cabs. He also plays a couple of double basses through them. Streamliner Series | GENZ BENZ Focus™ LT Series | GENZ BENZ £600 for the complete light weight rig, cash collected, from Wigan. I will relectantly consider courier, but that will be an extra £60 inc insurance. I WOULD FAR RATHER meet up within an 80 mile radius of Wigan, and won't charge anything else extra . They are in good but not immaculate condition. Odd nicks to the covering, some scratchs on the side of the head. All gear from late 2012. Any trial in Wigan of course. TRADES would strongly consider excellent conditioned............. Barefaced Gen 3 Superwotsits (2 x 12) aye, right Fender Road Worn Jazz US P or J US Sterling (not the 34/OLP/Sterling by..) just the proper US ONE. Yes, I realise they all bring in a bit more than £600, but £600 is the CASH price for a quick sale. Sorry about the photos but just for a change it's lashing it in Wigan. Thanks for looking, cheers, Karl. Edit, don't you just hate it when you get near the end of a posting, and lose internet connection! Is the market for older instruments in decline?
karlfer replied to karlfer's topic in General Discussion
Wow, lots of great comments guys and a lot of food for thought. Going back 5 or 6 years, there were some real eye openers, particularly on Feebay. An Ibanez certain copy going for just shy of £1500. A Hondo 11 certain copy going for over £700. Two JV Squiers (however you piggin spell it) going for over £1500. A real Lemmy going for $11,000 They obviously are not the "bread and butter" historical vintages but even so, looking at even the top end stuff, been a couple of late 50's good nick P's that seem to have gone for a lot less than a few years ago. Really, the question was just curiosity. On a personal level, once I was determined to get a vintage, especially after selling my wondrous 74 Jazz to Gunsfreddy. After a while though, I came to the conclusion that was touched on earlier. Too bloody valuable for The Bodgit and Scarper on a Saturday night. Thanks for all the thought provoking comments folks -
Market for older instruments? Not specifically on Basschat, but the general market for vintage gear. Does anybody think it's in decline? I don't mean the sort of 14 year old Precision on FEEBay at £900+, more the 60's/70's stuff. Just seems to me they are not going out at quite the prices of a couple of years back. Also seems to me they don't sell quite as quickly as a couple of years back. Just a personal observation and the question is simply out of curiosity really. Any thoughts anybody? Cheers, Karl.
Personally, I've never had a problem with Thomann, but from what you've said, aren't most of the problems you've had to do with negotiating a discount in order to keep it? Always problematic in my experience. Straight up return would have been far simpler and relatively hassle free. Plenty of other amps that can do the same job, whatever it is that you've bought.
Sorry to say it Paul, but I'm with Hiram on this. I bought two PJB C4 LITES from Thomann just before Christmas. They arrived swiftly and were immaculate, but I hated them instantly. Lovely tone but no power. I mailed Thomann, they told me to send them back. Yes, two cabs into a town centre PITA post office was not a joy, but I got a full refund and paid no postage. First time I've ever sent anything back and frankly I was a bit embarrassed to do so. Thomann were exemplary. Doesn't help you. Good luck.

Jason has just come to buy a bass from me. Amazing pro musician, nice guy, young, good looking, I HATE HIM Absolute pleasure not only to deal with, but to listen to him play. Fully recommended by me, deal with utmost confidence. Thanks for making it so easy Jason and enjoy the bass. Cheers, Karl. Oh, NB. He only wolfed one of my cookies, he can definitely come again

Oliie just bought a bass from me. Gotta say absolute pleasure from first contact to him getting the bass. Decisive, great comms, did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it. Fully recommended by Hermann Munster's stunt double (me ). Cheers Ollie, enjoy the bass, Karl.
Think you`re right there, I`m one of them and have had soooo many basses/amps/cabs (inc Barefaced) over the years - since joining Basschat I might add. Up until then I was pretty much the same, one bass/amp/cab and happy with them. Since joining Basschat I`ve essentially seen buying/selling gear as part of the hobby of playing bass, as I`ve been able to research so much great gear. I`m pretty much sorted now, my gear is exactly right for what I`m doing at present, though have to say if I were doing gigs where I wasn`t always going through FOH I`d probably have one of the Barefaced Retro 610s as my gigging cab.
That TB thread was pretty interesting reading...
Wasn't it just I'm just a dim plank spanker, but I gigged a BF Supertwelve for 18 months. Sold it cos it "farted out" (despite eq shenanigans) in A COUPLE of venues. Over the 18 months since I sold it, I've tried Bergs, MB, TKS, Vanderkley and probably a couple of others. Back to a (used) BF S12V which so far has shown no signs of anything but great, clear and loud performance. Daft loud with the TTE. Don't think I'm a fanboi, and regardless of this is better spec bunfight, this combination is a great compromise for ME
I can relate to this Karl. I use these or Luminlay on all my basses. Really great and a cheap fix. http://www.ebay.co.u...twAAOSwAKxWaFE2 10mm might be a bit large but you can get smaller ones either from eBay in the States or Rothko and Frost do them and the little UV charging torches. Sorry to highjack your sale thread but thought it was worth the heads-up.
Thanks Stuart, that's a great idea, will have a look at that. That could be a bit of a revelation, cos all the cool jazzes come with rosewood boards . Thanks again. I KNEW I wasn't the only one with this "passing of time" issue -
A prize is deserved for the best reason for sale ever. Didn't I have a word with you about venturing up the dusty end? Good luck with your sale Karl.
Now that photo I got the barracking for young Gary, look closer and you will see, 1) peering intently at board, 2) it's maple
Great bass Karl, fully appreciate why you`re selling - it`s the reason I defected to maple boards, so I could see what I was paying under bright stage lights.
THANK YOU LOZZ!!!!!! Strangely, it's a conversation I've had with a few of the "more mature" gigging gents on here. Particularly in the last few months. Last night was the 1st gig in 3 years that I've not used the green one in at least one set. I gigged this all night, those pups sound great and the neck is wonderful. Actually, as I was typing the ad, I thought of perhaps seeing if Creative Cuts could sort me some bright, blocky inlays. Ho hum -
Selling because I can't see the dusty end in stage lighting. Not gonna wear glasses on stage and contacts scare the Hell out of me . Call it vanity if you must Will put a link to spec, will be the Black one rather than Natural, only difference is colour of scratchplate. Limited photos at the moment, need to take them when the wife's not here, cos she's doing her nut about me constantly swapping The main photo is a "stock" one, in the short term, I hope my feedback will give confidence when I say this bass is immaculate. Tweed style case + pup cover, lead inc. £1000 couriered UK (they were around £1600 selling price new, there is a Jazz version on here currently at £1125). £950 collected from Wigan. Will meet no charge 50 mile radius of Wigan. Cash/cleared cheque/bank transfer Any trial in Wigan. TRADES. Happy to look at sensibly valued trades/part trades but please, 4 string, fretted, MAPLE boards or PEARL BLOCK inlays, something I can see under stage lighting OK, spec link http://www.andertons...fingerboard.asp Feedback at bottom of post.
