  1. Just found this https://www.ebay.com/itm/123604227426?ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F711-53200-19255-0%2F1%3Fff3%3D2%26toolid%3D10044%26campid%3D5336462331%26customid%3Dcomp-price%26lgeo%3D1%26vectorid%3D229466%26item%3D123604227426%26srcrot%3D711-53200-19255-0%26rvr_id%3D1871052700305%26rvr_ts%3D201e9dc41690ac3d3a71afabfffcc625&ul_noapp=true
  2. Look above dude, just as you were typing
  3. WTF did I put a daft bid on a bass when I'm trying to get down to 4. OK, so drove to pick it up, had a bit of time with it. BAD BITS. 2 of the clover leaf parts of the tuners rattle. Bit of Araldite should stop that. Reluctant to change as they have that torque bar that you can change tuner tension with hex key. Tone rotary seems to do nowt, so that'll either be a Ki0Gon loom or a trip to Richie Tomson to put a new pot in. Bit of neck dive (4" strap fettles that). EDIT. Strings are crap. IF I decide to keep it. GOOD BITS. The current one tone is FABULOUS, lovely thump with just a touch of bite. The generic Yam pups they used on this range were superb imo. Superb neck, 40mm nut, think maple board on a Nate Mendel. Looks great without scratchplate. Truss rod, bridge etc very good. Plays brilliant! Well built enough to use as an emergency hammer. So, bearing in mind I'm moving in a few months & REALLY need to cut gear down, do I move it on or, SPEND £60 ON WILKINSON BLACK BRIDGE, TUNERS & STRING TREE
  4. Nah, way too long Mark!
  5. Fabulous, & great advert & photos!
  6. As per title, 1st year run from when they changed from painted necks. Completely original. DAFT price now, for one as good as this, imo, especially for our continental friends. Its in reasonable nick for a 32 year old bass that gets gigged regularly, stipled paintwork on the back, the photos actually make it look better than it is. Weight is 8lbs 8ozs. Obligatory Duff McKagan mention. Still has the little F caps on the rotaries, neck, truss, electrics fine, original slightly larger pole pups. Fender gig bag. COURIER. Buyer to organise/pay for own courier, just tell me when it's getting picked up. EUROPE. This is an even better buy now & I will ship to Europe but ONLY under the following terms. Buyer bank transfers £520 (GBP). WHEN payment HAS CLEARED in my account, buyer to then arrange own courier. Rest assured this bass will be well packed & in advertised condition when it is collected, but I no longer have the time or facility to chase couriers up in the unlikely event something goes wrong. Apologies but any buyer needs to accept that term & responsibility. Please see my linked 6 pages of feedback. The last photo shows the bass photobombing the drummers pic from last nights gig Any trial in Wigan, will travel to meet up. thanks for looking, Karl.
  7. Always a pleasure with you Dunc Think you're supposed to make offers by PM Very kind Pete, I wish I could take better photos. If you wish to ask this much money off people, my opinion is you need to make the effort. If somebody wants £2k+ for a vintage bass & puts up 3 photos, lazy & not respecting buyers imo
  8. You couldn't have got closer Pete. Now, are you running the book on how long before it's up for sale ?
  9. Yeah it's fairly shallow Dunc, normal dimensions, not as shallow as a Geddy. Thanks Rick, good to know especially from someone with your knowledge. Now, what other pic's would you like? All PM'S replied folks, as I've said this is a long term sale so no need for anybody to act in haste, It would be REALLY great if potential buyers got the chance to try it for a couple of hours, with no obligation.
  10. Anything under £200 is a steal for one of the Ed. I don't need it but I couldn't resist
  11. I'm in on this one, superb basses as all this family of Yams are. My max bid is set at £167 cos I want some spare to put a mudbucker at the neck. I don't need it, you know what you need to beat me. I WON'T be going any higher.
  12. We did McCooleys in Concert Sq last June, booked the following week for McCooleys in Matthew St. We did the 1st one, then cancelled the 2nd one. YOU REALLY NEED to keep somebody with the vehicles, especially at finishing time. I'm simply too old to be lugging gear 400 yards, stepping over trainee corpses. It was a fabulous gig though! Enjoy.
  13. Presume this is gone Alex?
  14. Jean & June Millington, Nicky Barclay, can't remember the 4th. Mother's Pride was an excellent album, In The Dream I Had Last Night a terrific song.
  15. Yup, the good 'uns are getting pricey now, although he does have high overheads.
  16. Intriguing little fellas these, one day perhaps. GLWTS ABD
  17. Thank 'ee young sir! Another thank 'ee young sir Thanks Cliff, always good to have a known expert chip in, for good or for bad, especially when Fender were changing from 4 bolt to 3/bullet around this time. I wish my photographic skills were up to being able to focus on the numbers. Actually, I wish my eyes were up to focusing on the numbers . I got a bit of a flaying for my price on Faecesbook. I pointed out this is what a similar one (a year younger) might cost from one of the foremost dealers (and that one sold). http://andybaxterbass.com/details.php?id=1389&fbclid=IwAR3KRdG_r8eVcq_gXuJaQWgH5VHvF6AYCQoNk5EG9N2tU_EuhoYftekdLUo Thanks again fellas, cheers, Karl.
  18. Thanks chaps it is indeed a rather splendid instrument ☺️
  19. Thanks Alex, that sounds about right for mid 70's Fender . Having said that, when I put it back together again, the only thing that had gone out was pick up heights!
  20. Ooops, sorry, sold a week ago. I need to move house later in the year. It will be the end of gigging for me as there's no pub scene there. I don't gig this wonderful bass in the dubious gaffs I play, so time to sell it. BAD BITS. I would also consider a part ex BUT I need to realise at least £1000 cash for the expensive move to come. Original pups are not on, BUT I have them & they are included. I think the bridge pickup has been re-wired at some stage. No idea what the current pups are, but they work nicely. Original included pups, neck no. 180?74, 6.90 ohms, bridge no 181574, 7.60 ohms. Don't think scratchplate is original. (Edit). Like many early 70's Fenders, nothing on the heel of neck, but some stamps can be seen & name looks like it ends "es" The 2 pot dates (both vols) that I can see are 137-73 then it get's tricky. HAPPY to take the control plate off for inspection but I've tried about 20 photos of the numbers & can't get them right. Don't think the case is original, but it's certainly battered. GOOD BITS. It's a lovely bass which seems to be mainly original, lots of chips, bit of forearm wear. Not heavy at fractionally over 9lbs I WON'T COURIER I'm afraid, I can't get full insurance at this sort of cost. I will happily drive within 100 miles of Wigan. Happy for any experts to point out any unintended misinformation, it is 45 years old after all. I am in no rush, thanks for looking, Karl.
  21. In the unlikely event it doesn't work out with Paul, please give me a shout
  22. And look what's turned up on Bumtree https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/fender-mike-dirnt-59-tele-precision-bass/1329903270
  23. My eyesight is crap but to me the body looks like a Squier Dirnt that's been finished with whitewash MADE IN JAPAN Gotohs, no serial number of any kind showing anywhere that I can see. I refer my learned friends to line #1 of post #1 Edit. While I think on, Fender Custom Shop waterslide decals can be had for about £4 on FEEBay.
  24. Just not trendy Frank. Guess I'll stop worrying about the colour matching the Orange cabs 😁
