  1. Hi folks. Last week I spent £220 on this Explorer Bass. I had the Gibson version for a lot of years and loved it. To me it sounded better and was more balanced than a T-BIRD, yet always looked just as rock. A real "put in the groin and head down" kinda bass. Need to move it on very quickly as a bass chatter has put something up that is on my very long time need list. The Explorer needs to help fund it. So come on you young bucks/buckesses, you know you want to look this cool. It was made in the UNSUNG factory in Korea in 2003. Few nicks on headstock/body and some buckle rash. Not perfect but nothing unusual, it's been gigged. 3 way pick up selector, volume/volume/tone controls. Always liked the brass nut on my Gibbo. Hopefully pictures will come up. £160 cash, pick up obviously preffered but I will deliver to you free within 50 miles of Wigan, otherwise probably about £20/£25 to parcel force it. The above price reflects the need to move it quickly so I can get the other one I am desperate for. If it doesnt go quickly, I will keep and add some black covered strings, black rotaries and black scratchplate so it will be a bit, er, black. Cheers Karl. Oh by the way, you can check my limited evil bay feedback, it's Karl5066.
  2. Hiya pal1972. Is this the model with the slimmer neck (jazz size I think)? Cheers, Karl.
  3. Well done mate, it was gorgeous. Now, wheres my kleenex?
  4. OK, sorry to Ian, but please, nobody buy this until I sell my Epiphone Explorer bass. Hoist by my own petard, but that would be a bump then.

Well done, wish you all the very best. Try Steinberger/ Hohner?
  6. I had the Creamy/White Gibbo Explorer as well, for about 15 years AND I LOVED IT! Good basic sound, well meaty, great neck to fly about/chord on. I didn't have trouble with neck dive, but I did wear it high, so perhaps thats why. Sold it in one of those stupid moments and regretted it ever since. Good luck, Karl.
  7. Many thanks Dangerboy. I'm working on it, cheers, Karl.
  8. Hello Dangerboy. I am very close to having a punt, so some answers if you would be so kind. Is the truss rod working? Are all the electrics good, pick ups working individual and together. What is the action like at 1, 12 or 17 frets. Whats it like to play (subjective I know) Would you accept a cheque(I would happily wait for it to clear) as it's a long way from Wigan to London. Sorry for the dumb questions, it's just I'm dumb. Cheers, Karl.
  9. Thats the poodles privates. Thinking very strongly about reasons for Jazz number 4. Would be less thinking if I hadn't moved from Falkirk to Wigan.
  10. Oh dear, movement in underwear that brings back vague memories. STUNNING.
  11. Have a bump on me, whilst I consider the consequences of lying to the wife about little it cost.
  12. Sorted guys, many thanks for your help. You are gentlemen of the highest water (that's a compliment). Now, I suggest you all hide for when I come across the neck problems Geddy basses have! Again, many thanks, Karl.
  13. Many thanks D Cheers, Karl. PS the Geddy and the 'Ray both look gorgeous.
  14. Hi gafbass02, sorry no deal, just info if you would be so kind. I have a standard geddy, did you get the lovely tortie plate made to fit, and if so by who please? Good luck finding your trade, Cheers, Karl.
  15. Thanks guys, major cock up avoided then. Off to Band Q tomorrow then, for adjusting thingys. Better book the A and E appointment now. Cheers, Karl.
  16. Hi guys, bit of advice needed, pretty please. I have a Geddy Lee with bad ass 11. Action is very low, but it's starting with the fret buzz. For years I have just taken my basses to the local wizz setter upperer, but I cant really afford to now. So, what I am thinking (allegedly!) is if I gently screw back the saddles, this will lift the action a touch, and eliminate the fret buzz. Can't be that simple can it? What horrors am I not accounting for? Please bear in mind I am as intellectually and technical gifted as a demised goldfish. Any help/advice gratefully recieved. Cheers, Karl.
  17. As a muppet, I would expect a 4 grand bass to do the bookings, play itself, make the tea and service the van.
  18. Cant believe that I cant find reference to Gary Thain, Uriah Heap (sadly long dead) If you get the chance listen to his work on Magicians Birthday, Sweet Freedom or Demons and Wizards. Massive influence on me as a kid. Karl.
  19. Hi thedonutman. Sorry to be pain. What sort of condition? Close up photos if poss? What model is the Peavey exactly, coz I tried harmony and couldnt find peavey max 450 nitro bass, probably because it's not been reviewed. Cheers, Kar.
  20. Think that may be the made in China ones, whilst I think Kevs is a made in USA. PS Kev, 1. Have you still got the castors that come with it? 2. Hope to be in touch next week, fingers crossed ( and patience strained, certainly on my part) Karl.
