1. Even though it's not white, and I have little idea what a pre amp/di box is, I am tempted. Tempted because I know that a bass from Rich (on reputation only, see his feedback) is going to be as good as that model gets. Have a bump while I convince myself Olympic White/tortie shell makes no difference to my crap playing.
2. Top guy Mark. Had the sense to wait until he could try out before he bought. (5 hour round trip, but needed to be done as my dream bass is your nightmare? How do you explain "feel") When he was happy dealing was top notch. Totally recommended, a real nice guy, enjoy it Mark. All the best mate, Karl.
3. The Birdie Song. We will hunt you down................
4. I must have been p****d last night. I was sure I saw a debate about whether it's [a hour] or [an hour]. I am only confused when I am awake.
5.
Agreed. Anyone that is pointed out errors in an eBay listing yet does not update the details is not trustworthy IMHO. I am still after a 70s Jazz but this definitely ain't the one!
It's a shame my jazz was not sunburst/rosewood board or you might have been tempted. It's been on hold for nearly a fortnight, but you will find the one you want Clarky, it's just the waiting for it to show itself. Good luck, we're all rootin'for ya. Karl.
6.
Re-listed but at least he's dropped the "Limited edition" tag. Still keeping the text saying its original parts though .... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Jazz-Bass-Ele...=item2304ebca52
Am I missing something? All mods carried out before '74, but isn't he intimating that his father bought it from new? Therefore isn't his father the only owner? Medication Nursey please. One to be avoided by any punter in my opinion, FWIW. Karl.
7. Ah, grammar pops it's head above the parapet on the way to 20,000
8. Bugger, How did I not see that.
9.
I suppose not everyone has an eye for photography or maybe not a great camera. I take your point but all that's required of an ad for a bass at this price is an idea. If anyone spends 2.5 large on a bass on the strength of a pic , however good , they're nuts. Personally all I need is an idea of what I'll be going in person to check out before I part with a penny.
So true. When I tried to sell my 74/74 Jazz here,I wanted any prospective buyer to invest a day of their time to play and get a feel for it. If I was investing £1500 in a bass I am bloody sure I would make the journey. I would also respectfully walk away if it wasn't the bass for me. Mine was stripped at some time70's/80's but is more original than that one!
10. Bugger. Wish I had kids so I could raid their college fund.
11. Hi there. I bought one of these new in '96, a colour called Teal Green. Did not look anything as nice as that. I paid £860 for it new , at Music Ground in Doncaster. I remember it well as it was the 1st bass I bought that broke the £500 barrier. Lovely bass to play, light, fast, slim, slightly smaller body.Having used passives for 20 years by then, I guess I wasn't used to the treble that an active brought. I sold mine quite quickly and returned to using my '74 Jazz. Having said that, if it had looked as gorgeous as that one I might have tried to live with active a little longer. Good luck with the sale, it really is a cracking bass. Cheers, Karl.
12.
Worthy we are not.
Yeah, I forgot. (jealous, naaar) +1
13. Never stopped listening. Gary Thain was up there with Chris Squires as my inspiration. Saw them loads of times as a young teen, remember Ken Hensley, at Newcastle City Hall, starting Rainbow Demon with a sandwich sticking out of his gob. Same gig, Dave Byron said "here's the first song written by the Beatles". Boxy started a nice little picked intro, Mr Byron started singing Oooh ga ga, Myself and 3999 others pi**ed ourselves laughing. Time machine please.
14.
Looks like fender are trying to rip off Lakland now
+1
15. I saw this one, and as they would say in Glasgow, Aye, right. Karl.
16.
That's very cool looking Karlfer
It's now also very sold and sadly it wasn't to me. Karl.
17. Hi guys, this is the little beauty from Leeds. I mailed Will, the seller last night but unfortunately didn't get a reply until this afternoon. Too late for a trip over the Pennines today. It's different but very nice. Checked the headstock shape against photos of the Kasuga I had in very early 80's, and the shape is exactly the same. Re-introducing Obi-Jon-Kinobi. Over to you Jon. Oh, this was still for sale about 3pm.
18. Hiya Neal, although wev'e already "spoke". My Geddy went before I really decided to sell it. The Geddy is definitely growlier than than the Highway, but the Highway is lighter. Keep on looking and take your time. Enjoy this forum, it's blinding for the knowledge folk readily share. Good look with everything, and up the Maidens! ('arris gimme you fingers and skill!) Cheers, Karl.
19.
A few questions (not wanting to get your hopes up) as I am in the market for a Rickenbacker Bass and can realistically could pay cash this week if the right deal is there. I'm looking at a couple already but like the age of this and you are only a couple of hours from me. 1) In the initial post you state you have more pics to follow? The one attached is ok but if the back is suffering buckle rash and the tuner has been replaced I'd need to see what this looks like. Also close up shots of the bass. 2) What's the weight of this one? 3) Any history? How long have you owned it etc. Why are you selling? 4) Original case? Thanks in advance, Tim
Et moi. (s**t, I didn't know I'd paid any attention in french, but it just like, came to me)
20. Hi folks. Sometimes in the basses for sale bit, people ask where the seller got their scratchplates from. I had a Geddy, and got a custom made tortie plate for it. In my opinion it really set it off. So, long story short, for those who aren't aware of them The Aurora Project, did me a fantastic product, very quickly and at a very reasonable price. I have no commercial link to them. If this helps one person, then it's been worthwhile. (note to self, nauseating git!)
21. Love playing the blues. Shortest ever blues toon, Didn't wake up this morning. Coat ready and waiting.
22. Hello tom1946. If you are in no hurry, I MAY be selling my Rockinbetter for £500 in the near future, If I do it's because I will have found a Rick 4003 . Really just giving you a head start, worst you can say is no. I bought it for £575 in Dec, it is ebay item number 270492829061. It has real original Rick pups, pup surround and bridge (over £300 worth). If you cant trace it through the e bay number, please send me you personal email address and I will try to send you some photo's (cant seem to get it right on bass chat with photos, something to do with file size and my incompetency). As I say, at the moment this is a "maybe for sale", however, if you are looking at £500 Rick copies, this may be as good as you get. I will be deciding in the next couple of weeks. Hope you don't find this cheeky, really just trying to help both of us, Cheers, Karl.
