1.
Yeah, but they are top quality valve watts ;-)
Thank you Mr. Rock, very kind. Many years ago I was in the office of the company I worked for at the time. It was in Godalming. I said something and one of the girls said "you're a bit 40 watt". After asking, she explained it meant dim. Never bought her an ice cream again
2. Jeez, what kept you all, only 4 replies in the 1st 6 minutes Thanks guys, told you I was a bit 40 watt
3. Cab one, 400 watts, 8 ohms Cab two, 350 watts, 8 ohms Both from same manufacture. Both same speaker config, just the updated model is rated at 350 watts rather than 400. Now I'm sure I read somewhere that in this circumstance, one of the cabs will get more juice from the amp, in this case a 500 watt Markbass. Can somebody explain it to me please. Bare in mind I make an average 4 year look like Mensa fodder. Cheers, Karl.
4. Why would you want 2 BF 8 OHM CABS? If you are using an Orange Bass Terror, do they not still have a 4 ohm/8ohm switch on the back? Switch to 8 ohm, get your 500 watts. Any bigger gigs will be through PA surely? And with the greatest respect to BF fans, I ran a Gen 11 S12V for 18 months, I know roughly how to eq, but on VERY RARE occasions in rare horrible venues, you could not eq out boom. So, they are exceptionally good but are not the solution to all bass ill's. AND DON'T get me started on The Toon, disgrace to the shirt most of them.
5. These basses were only made for about 4 years, pretty much between the California Series and the Highway 1 series. They reputedly were the first choice of woods in the Mexican factory. There was a long thread about these, think when quatchmaster?? had one up for sale about 5 years ago. These passive basses are good quality, with that much revered P/J set up and the slimmer jazz neck. Great basses. GLWTS
6. Thanks Simon, very kind of you Strange really, a year ago, quality, respected, powerful lightweight cabs like these would have gone very quickly.
7. Long gone, now in Manc land
8. From his feedback it would appear Ferenc is based in Hungary
9. Despite only having the two superb violinists on stage, amazing show. Thanks 'Shell, I'll look them up.
10. Unfortunately I know the 20 something that has bought this bass. He has been asking me for weeks on end what to buy. Unsolicited mails on Faecesbook etc. Really sad he didn't ask me about this one. He says he paid £750 for it including all fees (passed to him I guess?) He's going to have a real hard time selling it when the time comes. Mind at least he'll stop annoying the tits off me on a nightly basis
11. Didn't know where to put this, but just in case anybody is GASsing About 3 years ago, Fender did a limited run of Mexican Precisions and Jazzes in the Antigua finish. All that bought them conceded they were beautifully made. These very rarely come up on the second hand market. Promenade Music (I have no affiliation, just a shopper) have a used Antigua Jazz in! They also have a passive Sea Foam Pearl FSR P/J, same as my wonderful bass. VERY FEW of those ever made it to the UK (possibly less than 10 of each of the black and Sea Foam Pearl). Fantastic basses. Only seen one up for resale in two years. Promenade are a bit pricey, but talk nicely to Gary............... They have an unsold, Italian, Markbass TTE 500. Shop ticket A STAGGERING £1057 . They have it on their website at £729. I had £650 cash in my pocket and if Gary had been in I would have asked the question. Well, it's been gathering dust for at least 16 months
12. Very lightweight for 2 x 10'S. Excellent condition, both with Roqsolid covers. Both Made in Italy. Available at £325 each, plus £15 UK delivery, or will meet up within 40 miles of Wigan. Cheers, Karl.
13. Hello Tim E. You have the original packaging, it will cost around £20 to courier this, including insurance, through somebody like Interparcel. A buyer would pay this charge if they want the head. As ever, whilst there are a lot of people in London, there are an awful lot more of your potential buyers that aren't in London. I for one, would never drive there to pick anything up. GLWTS.
14. Last July, I had smoked plaggy faggies for a year. I'd saved the difference in spend between real fags and plaggy faggies. I said unto Her Who Makes Toast By Breathing On Bread, "wanna treat?". Couple weeks later she asked for tickets for Lord of the Dance, Dangerous Games. So I booked the VIP/Ambassador/Champers package. BIG brownie points! The fess up bit is I think this is the 6th time I've been. This latest version, Lord of the Dance, Dangerous Games, well, as ever, all the performers in the show are just phenomenally talented. For me though, the guys stole the show. With a superb video wall behind them, ranging from unicorns, through to Star War-ish, through to perhaps Dante's entrance to Hell?. Guys with stage clothes that looked like a cross between The Borg/Robocop/Terminator, with red LED eyes, green LED body armour, just superb. I lived in Scotland for 17 years and love Celtic scales and melodies (I would love to do Runrig's "Skye" with a covers band). When you put those together with a grinding rock beat, a fantastic PA that has the kick drum bouncing the floor, the bass punching your chest and the highs and mids coming with perfect clarity, it really is something else. The few quieter passages are delivered within an almost surreal atmosphere. The first couple of times we went, in the early days, there was a live band spread out between the pit and the stage. Sadly that is no more the case, although it does not detract from the show, it's just a musician's gripe. All they have live now is the two lady violinists, who are understandably superb Any musician who does not "get" the correlation between music and dance, needs to go see this show live. It is truly amazing. And this from a Maiden fan
15. I have just had the pleasure of Paul buying my LM TUBE 800 from me. Very decisive, quick communication, VERY quick payment (before I expected it ) and more than a good few laughs along the way. Paul is another tremendous Basschat ambassador who it was simply a great pleasure to deal with. Unreservedly recommended. All the best Paul and enjoy the amp, cheers, Karl.
16. Martyn is a top bloke so deal with utmost confidence peeps. Martyn, if you find yourself stuck for a rig, give me a shout and if I can help, I will. GLWTS fella, cheers, Karl.
17. Joey and I have had a chat about this and I can't add to you guys comments. When I got mine I was a little concerned that the back plates of the tuners looked a bit cheap. The first week or so I had it, as with all new strings, I tuned it a couple of times a day, stretching and pulling the strings away from the board. I've done a few 2.5 hour gigs with it since and mine stays perfectly in tune. Good luck Joey.
18. I have a strange liking for those boots. Might have to dig mine out
19. Absolute steal, one of these at that price. Amazed this hasn't gone, good luck Ash.
20.
You're welcome
21. Original spec from Alex stated suitable for amps between 150 - 600 watts RMS. Don't think many of the hundreds of Compact owners have ever complained about lack of volume
22. Only this and the two Traveler 210's left now. Hope your Compact goes Paul, amazed it's still for sale tbh. Now, if I end up not selling this head, here's a bit of fun regarding what I will do with it http://basschat.co.uk/topic/261195-what-colour-amp-ideas-please/
23. I have just had the pleasure of meeting Alan. Lovely fella, very decisive and a very good player to boot./ Those lines on that beautiful white Miller sounded fabulous Alan. Deal with utmost confidence folks, Alan is one of life's nice guys. Cheers Alan, and now frighten those guitarists
24. Many thanks Nick. It is a bargain IMO. Really surprised it's still here
