In my band, all 6 instrumentalists pretty frequently play fills all following the same rhythm and sometimes the same melody, it sounds big! (We're drums, bass, 2 guitars, sax and trombone) It's good fun working out parts originally played on other instruments

Anything with consistent 8ths that's faster than 220bpm, and anything faster than that. Which is quite a lot of stuff I want to play I think technique wise I'm slowly building up my chops, just taking it really slow with a metronome (working on thumb+pop triplets, they're a real b*stard for me at the moment) But mainly playing with a pick is what i struggle with, I just can't get the articulation I'd like to be consistent. Gonna be practicing though cos I'm filling in for my mates in a week or so and need to use a pick for that to get that skatepunk rattle/clank

I've been playing a 6 for about 6 of my nearly 10 bassing years, and now struggle with 4s. It pretty much boils down to time spent with the instrument (whatever it is) to get comfortable and get the most/best out of it.

Current board, basic but does the job signal chain is bass synth wah > tu2 > behringer od > beq7 > behringer comp > amp

I love cheap cider and bassline, does that count?

All gigs that kingsize (our lot) promote i do a group inbox about a week before and sort everything out to make sure everything's sweet, most gigs we play i borrow or am asked to supply an amp, which is fine so long as I know. Have had a few sticky situations where stuff has not been sorted out and it's not pleasant for anyone involved! We also have a left-handed drummer and he's sick of all the jokes now :')

I've been using an Ashdown MAG300 for the last couple of years or so, it has to be on full most of the time to be heard at practice, and gigs it needs DIing to be heard, unless the venue is tiny (which is every few gigs). It's had a good run but one of the speakers has started flapping/rattling and I need a new rig. I'm after a stack because a lot of the time a cab is provided and I've done my back in already! My main requirement is a f***ton of headroom, as I think I'm gonna get some sort of preamp/tone shaper pretty soon. My sound is a bit of a wierd one, I play dead hard with fingers but it's a little less clanky than most other punk bassists I know. Sometimes use a distortion for fast bits and an EQ for dubby bits. What do you guys think would be good?

Hi everyone, i'm Sam, I play in a few bands but mainly play bass in Bolshy, a ska-punk band from Liverpool. Been playing nearly 10 years now, for various different bands, mainly metal and punk stuff but I've had a go at loads of styles- done a bit of session work for a funk/soul singer, played a few music theatre type things and that. I play an ibanez SR506, which i've had for 6-7 year, and use an Ashdown MAG300 but I'm looking for a new amp now cos it's a bit too quiet to keep up with our drummer! I've just been lent a computer with FL studio and.hope to be releasing some electronic tracks in the next couple of months. Rest assured, there will be bass Lovely to be here, hiya!
