2. it's getting closer! looking great
3. safe!
4. bought 3 fan-bloomin-tastic albums recently Squarepusher - Just a Souvenir deffinitly my favorite squarepusher album so far. love every second of it and seems to be more accessible than other albums. Soil & "Pimp" session - Pimpoint everyone needs to hear this! i think they refer to their music as 'death jazz'. i personally don't like that description, though i can see why they chose it. very intense at times, but awe inspiringly beautiful at others. organized chaos at it's best! James Taylor Quartet - Live at the Jazz Cafe captures the energy they have live perfectly, which doesn't happen often with live albums. a deffinite for any fan, and highle recomended for new listeners.
5. i use this rainbow strap: got it when i got my first bass in 1999 for a fiver. shows no signs of wearing out so it'll be around for a while to come! i tried a thick leather strap when i had an overwater as i needed more padding as it was quite heavy, but couldn't get along with it, too grippy! i need it to be able to slide about.. o,0
6. good to see some progress

NEW Roland Vbass

are we mere ants too small to be included in this exchange of information?
8. i used to have a 5 string fretless and loved it. i thought my intonation on it was pretty good. but whenever i tried to record i would drive myself crazy trying to play in tune, as it seems to pick up the slightest slip or missplaced finger and put a big red flashing arrow above it to make sure everyone notices it! so i hope you really meant it when you said you loved playing bass! because you'll have to do a lot of practicing to get to a good recording standard. but with fretless i'm sure you'll agree the sound is worth it
9. mmh, looks very nice!

11. when i learnt violin as a child they used little coloured round stickers that are available from and craft or stationary supply shop.
12. at the moment, i only have internet access at my mums house, i'm here for an couple of hours a day so do get to spend a bit of time here. but then i'm also playing a fair bit of bass at home as well so it evens out. back in the day though when i had my own internet access. i think i had to log on every half hour to make sure i hadn't missed anything. so it deffinitly one back then!
13. i've missplaced the power supply for my mackie 402-VLZ3. i've e-mailed mackie a couple of times with no response so, anyone know how i can get hold of one??
14. now i'm almost SURE it's beautifull! still 50% of the bass to judge though
15. i THINK it looks fantastic. but i can't tell with only one picture. give us some more!
16. wow, gone for a pretty flat neck profile then!? looking great BTW!
17. argh!!
18. fantastic. i love his basses! well, the looks at least, i've never had the fortune to play one. i'm sure it'll be great!
19. i've got piezo on my shuker. best used very lightly in my case as it brings out ALL aspects of the sound (buzzes, sctratches and all). but is fantastic for bringing out a bit of clarity and zing to the sound. if i'm using the neck pickup for a deep and thuddy slap sound, i add a bit of the piezo to keep some sparkle and high end. also works well when soloing or doing harmonics. personally i don't think i'd ever use it on it's own. but thats just MY piezo system on MY bass.
20. just for the record, i have no problems with him doing his thing on an expensive, high-end, highly coveted instrument. if botique basses were reserved for people with the talent to play them to their potential, then i think a huge amount of current owners would have to give up their basses, me included!
21. the headstocks almost as big as the body! i know it's cheap, but surely they would have thought to change the shape to save space? i think there's 1 or 2 people on the forums who own these (dunno bout the 7 string version), and if memory serves true you get what you pay for. ok basses, fit and finish aren't tops, but by no means bad. i'm sure people will be along in a minute to tell us if i'm right/wrong.
22.
Have a little bit of respect guys.He is performing an ancient song(or his interpretation of it) called "Ko Saicha" which the Kamikaze have traditionally played, sung,or listened to before entering battle.Haike probably died an honourable death after this performance. I know this because I have a Japanese mother-BTW I actually quite liked his playing Iain
i don't think the style of the song or what it represents has been mocked or degraded at all? so you like sloppy, slip-up playing do you? (jk) as i said, i liked what he was going for (including the style with which he played), but the technique and excecusion was awfull. oh, and what you you mean he probably died after this performance?
23. ^ i finally get what these emoticons represent! i can see what he's aiming for. but my word is he a long way off! the tone was horrible (which is a feat on a fodera), he was missing notes, falling off notes, missing strings and hitting wrong strings throughout the piece. i'm sure if he opened his eyes, looked at the bass, toned down the movements and practiced first. then once he had it down, moved up to this performace level it would probably be very interesting. but in this state? no thanks.

Pre Gig Rituals

if it's a big gig and the opertunities there (ie, not playing in a pub with no backstage), then the whole band gather in a circle and say a load of motivational crap to each other like "lets give this audience more than what they paid for" (if it's full) "lets make sure the people who didn't bother to come tonight really regret it!" (if it's empty) etc etc and then positive reminders such as "lets keep the rhythm tight, steady and controlled, i want people to ask us if we were playing to a click track" "i want to see your singing make someone weep with joy" etc etch once everyones been complemented and the plan of attack defined. scream, make weird noises, stamp your feet, shake & jump and head out onto the stage. i know it all sounds silly/obvious/weird, but the difference that this makes is literally immense. if you get the oppertunity to try it, do it!
