1. we've just done some recording with roland v-drums. and as ped sed, amazing. theres none of the hassle of trying to mike up a kit and having to make sure it all sounds spot on before you hit the big red button. but with an electric kit, with EZ drummer especially, the sounds are far beyond what average joe public (or even, dare i say it, a lot of studio boffins) could do with a live kit. and you can play about with your hearts content afterwards. eg. got the kit sounding fine, but then you add the bass guitar and find it clashes with the bass drum, no problem, just change it for one that doesn't. does your drummer catch cymbals, do rimshots or coax a variety of sounds from the ride? none of this is a problem for a high end roland kit. but for cheaper electronic drums you may have trouble with these. otherwise, dive in and have fun!
2. ha ha! o yes, i was working backwards.... *limps off*
3. looking through this thread, there must be litterally hundreds of crazy, very way out basses. and as i was scrolling i was thinking. i don't think i've ever seen any of them actually being played, and very few people who are known to own these sort of basses. where do they all go? and what is done with them???
4. thats...well...just...uh...sod it, you know what i'm trying to say. hope you sleep well tonight!
5.
As a lover of nice wood that is mighty pretty just 50% too manty strings for me! good luck with the sale.
*mulls over in head* so your a three string bassist? lovely bass by the way
6. yep, thats pretty overwhelming. but wait till you see mine, it'll hyperwhelm you
7. i played the one you took a pic of. it was.....ok, rediculously thin, was petrified that i'd snap it. wrapped round your body great, very comfortable. but i wasn't wowed, especially not 15000 of wowed (i think thats how much it was going for)
8. i don't 'try' to be a showman on stage, but when were on a big stage with a crowd thats diggin it i go pretty loopy, often sacrificing accuracy. but i don't care and no-one notices. as far as energetic music goes, i doubt there will be many people in the audience who'll notice mistakes, let alone mistakes by the bassist (i mean, who pays attention to them?), and if they do the chances of them caring or remembering are slim. whereas a player whose clearly getting into the music and having a good time* will get that message across to the audience who, in turn, loosen up and have a bit more fun. and finally, the reason i play music is to have fun. and i have more fun when i let go, and less fun when i stand still. so i very rarely do it. *i know you don't have to lark around for this message to get across, but it helps
9. thanks for the replies MananaMan, i'll spend as much as is necesarry to get the right desk. the yamahas look good, but waay to big for my needs i'm afraid whynot, i'd avoid Behringer aswell. and i think in this case i'll continue to, i want the absolute best in every respect but again, thanks for the reply. i've been looking at the soundcraft stuff but can't find smaller than 8 channels, do they do a micro mixer?
10. i need a mixing desk with 2 jack/XLR inputs and a phono/jack line in. 3 eq preferable, but unlikely. thin and small so it can comfortably fit in a gig bag pocket. at the moment i'm looking at a mackie http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~M...LZ3~ID~8374.asp but i've heard good things about soundcraft and others, and was wondering if any tech heads with experience on this subject could help make sure my choice is the best one. sound quality will be the single most important aspect of this buy. thanks for any help

13. as others have said, if you know the songs well, it shouldn't matter. is it that they can't make the date your due to record?
14. i'm currently running my schroeder 1210 and a pair of floor standing home stereo speakers all run off the head unit. it goes loud, it kicks the lows, it's crystal clear and in theory it didn't cost me a thing!
15. looking good!
16. lovely! if i hadn't just been ripped off and bought a dog of a car, it'd be mine. but i'm afraid i'll just have to offer the next best thing, have a bump!

19.
I have always done that, and had no idea it had a name!!
same as, to be honest i can't really understand how you can not do it. unless you use an almost 'pop' movement... i'm gonna have to go and have go at it later
20. it was 5 months ago, i'd guess so
21. ha ha, i am indeed. the 10" sub blew a few years ago, so i've been using it as a sub in the van and replaced the blown 10" with a cheapo car audio 12". but last week i got a replacement off eubassix and fitted it on the weekend and oooh lordy does it sound huge! always arrive at work with a big grin on my face i need to get a few bits of hardware of Mr.S though before it's in a good enough state to gig again.
22. P.S. the only advantage anyone has been able to give me for achoring the thumb is security when you move/jump around. but i move more than the horse in my sig, and even so, floating thumb has not presented any problems that need remedy
23. what advantage does your teacher give for anchoring your thumb? are these advantages worth the hassle?
24. very nice setup. schroeders rule! hopefully mine should be back on the road soon
