1. "There are some things only the bassist gets. and we like it that way!"
2. I'm doing a gig in a few weeks on double bass. but it has no pickup and i will need to be amplified. will just duct taping an AKG condensor mike to the body "do"? i'm not aiming for a jaw dropping sound BTW
3. looking good so far!
4. that is indeed a really, really nice example! cheers for the GAS!
5. Saw them in WOMAD festival last year. I had not heard of them before. Truly superb!
6.
doh...really..?? Most tune their 5 bass with a lower B, but it is also quite common to go soprano with the hi C, although we weren't discussing that aspect of the 5 string.........pay attention! I was, at the beginning of this item, really thinking about reading techniques. When the notes shoot up the stave, its less of a task on a five sting if you position yourself appropriately on the B string, however, I was really just pointing out, that if you're on the 8th fret in the key of G, that, that wasn't actually a visa for over playing, just cause you're half way up the neck. You get it now?? any more queries as to my train of thought, feel free to try and insult me, no problem!
i got it from the beginning thankyou. it was a simple question to avoid crossed wires. i have a lot more than that to say, but will do so through PM.
7.
The restrictions in the overall scope is what makes it sound like a bass. Beyond five strings, i recon your getting into the realms of an obese guitar. Don't forget we're playing bass here. Generally the bass provides the bottom end groove, and so too much crap above a certain point calls for extreme virtuosity, and even then, it can all get a bit tiresome.......blah blah blah.......blah..
you know in most cases, the 5th string is a lower one yes?
8.
so, like the 'my classical solo bass ...' and the video of you doing the tango ?
exactly! and love that Framus! would love to have a go on something like that
9. i've played 5 strings for around seven years now. when i go to a 4 i've got to admit i find myself quite lost when playing songs (improv is fine). but not because it's missing those extra 5 notes, because i very rarely use them (things have more impact when used sparingly). it's because i use the 5th string to play in different positions. and for this, i find it invaluble! i'd be inclined to agree with Dave Bass about the remark regarding playing 8th fret B instead of 3rd fret E. but i prefer to look at it as 'more phat' as opposed to 'less punch'
10. should you type something in the signature box, it will appear at the bottom of every post you make. to have a pic on the left, check out 'avatar settings' in your control panel. and welcome to the forums! now lets see that vintage famus
11. and finally, to take this thread completely OT. you need to post a thread about that very intriguing bass of yours
12. any particular reason your going for the R over the L? don't suppose you want to swap the 1215 for a 1212L and a spare speaker?
13. is that Schroeder a 1215? and love the wooden racks!
14.
I wish I hung on to the one I had which I sold for £80. I was chuffed a the time as I only paid £50 for it though.
same boat here
15. what was so funky about him? not saying it wasn't good or anything, but at the same time, far from the funkiest thing i've ever heard.
16. very nice collection! i notice the 2 GWB's have different ramps? any reason?
17. your basses look top quality Simo, i'm suprised i haven't happened accross you before! and welcome to the forum Jack, your bass sounds terrific! i remember the excitement i felt when my dream bass started to come to fuition, over 4 years later and i still get that same feeling every time i pick it up! enjoy it
18. frikkin love it! the people who say they don't like it just don't want to admit it's the dogs
19.
OK, but if I was to blow £50K on a bass (and it's unlikely as it's not payday for a week or so), I'd want to make sure eBay has a record of the wording of the description in case something goes awry. As it stands, they don't...
quite true. i would hope that anyone that had that much spare money for a bass would spend a decent amount of money to make sure the bass was legit before buying it
ah, that's interesting - I tried right-clicking on Opera and it works fine, but not on Internet Explorer. So I can copy the pictures if I want to. Anyone wanna collaborate in a scam?
yes, yes i do you can be the front man, and i'll take the money
20.
I'll tell you why... the description is actually an image hosted outside of eBay. Once the image is deleted, the description is gone - there'll be no record of it anywhere. Now, why would the seller want to have that option?
because alongside disabling right click, people cannot copy the photo's and text as easily so will discourage people using the info and pics for a scam?
21. i love how on the ebay listing in the OP that despite the fact it's spelled BA55, he spells it Base in the listing title...
22. build your own schroeder? i forgot to look last night. but i will find out. Alex, it does seem to look like that, just the wire mesh is brass in mine
23. the stickers are peeled off. but on the replacement one i got you could still make out some lettering, i'll have a look and let you know if i can make out a name.
