1. I suppose thats one advantage of new micro gear. Easier to hide! But surely she can be too angry, what with it only being 70 quid. A bargains a bargain!

Live Sound
can I have more vocals?...can I have more drums?...can I have more guitar?...can I have more bass?....this monitor's too loud now.....
This is what really grates my cheddar. Thankfully i've been lucky enough to only be in bands who's soundcheck consists of blasting through a song (maby 2), some quick mumbles of 'yup, yup', then asking the soundman if s/he was happy before getting off the stage. Never on stage for more than 10 minutes. If I'm ever on first in a night, I'm not really bothered about the sound as there's either A. No-one there to hear it or B. No-ones cares cause it's the first band. When we're not on first, you get to hear a band or two from the FOH and for me, this is the important bit. If the sound is great, no problems. If it's poor, then the soundmans crap and there's nothing that can be done. If it's good, but not how we sound, then a quick word before the set using prior bands sound as refernce is enough to do the job.
3. I've been wanting to add a strat to the collection for years. And not only is this the right price, it's also 'different' enough too Live in Pembrokeshire, SW Wales.. would you consider postage?
4. Thought i'd dig this thread up to show off our latest photo's and an old one for good measure
5. I would say I've only been paid for 90% of the gigs I've ever done, and only 3 or 4 have been paid enough for 'profit' after costs. But then i like playing music at parties and for good causes or people, not the sort of gigs where you'd expect money.
6. Just because it has HIS name on it I want it. Unfortunately don't have the readies... But have a bump!
7. There's more amps than cabs there? An explanation of whats going on with that setup would be a handy thing to affix to your post
8.
Ooooh how'd she handle? Was/is it piezo only?
I seem to recall him saying there was a pickup under the fretboard and that it was a nightmare to do! Without wanting to sound cliche, it was the smoothest, most effortless bass i've ever laid hands on! It's the only bass that makes the term 'like butter' make sense.
9.
Play in a Staccato style - like Rocco Prestia, then its to short to notice.... Garry
In a similar vein, i play quarter notes on the string i'm tuning.
10. Oh man this is painfull... I'm currently building my own rig. It's only at 3k so far. But my long term dream is to build it up to exactly what you have for sale here... Trade for a Vauxhall Vivaro? It's the only thing i have that is worth that much...
11. It's really down to the individual wether or not a 5 is needed* in their arsenal, some things need it, if you don't play any of that stuff you don't. If you do you do I only use the extra 5 notes a handfull of times. I can play most of my sets in most bands with a 4, and get round the points where i do use the notes in some way. But the low notes when they ARE used have a big impact, and playing higher up useing the 5th string for more comfort, is enough for me to need it. *need: shouldn't be contsrued as HAVING to have it. I mean you don't HAVE to have the 4th
12. He's selling it to because he wants to put a deposit on a HOUSE?!
AM SELLING DUE TO BUYING A HOUSE AND NEED THE MONEY FOR THE DEPOSIT SO GRAB A BARGAIN.
£30 for a deposit on a house, or £30 towards a deposit on a house. Either way it's hillarious!
13. Just hit the edit tab in your original post and choose full edit. Will take to it.
14. Some close ups of my board, s'cuse the shoddy camera and user
15. Never heard of this before, and not sure I understand 100% what your doing. But wouldn't this leave the fret ends more exposed?
16.
But i suppose i have to deduce that at least a small part of the reason it's a keeper is because I couldn't create something as good as it for the price it's worth second hand.
This got me thinking about if i had the oppertunity again, what would i do differently in my bass. With the possible exception of adding wenge binding to go with the blocks, there's nothing i would want to change.... So i take it back!
17. My Shuker is a keeper. Nothing significant other than I designed it (ie, no sentimental value). But i suppose i have to deduce that at least a small part of the reason it's a keeper is because I couldn't create something as good as it for the price it's worth second hand.
18. I would hesitate to call it 'acoustic', i mean, it's hollowbody, but there's no unplugged volume. They are nice and light, and the tone is loverly. The typical combination of a composite fingerboard and nylon tapewound strings give these basses a very unique feel and sound. Not a million miles away from a double bass, but then it's not trying to get there. Not an easy sound to describe... warm yet zingy... zaney??
19. amazing on so many levels! the arch back combined with the fat bottom (oo-err!) getting thinner towards the neck looks really comfortable! the blue laminates in the neck are just sublime! also curious about the bridge?
20. Used to use cubase as i just wanted to record multiple tracks of me playing and arrange into songs. With hindsight, i think cubase is to labourious to keep inspiration flowing. Which is why i don't use it much now. Will be good when i want to record finished products though. After cubase i used reason (as my audio interface broke), thoroughly enjoy using it. Even with no external hardware (keyboard, controllers etc), it's a breeze to get a tune going. For turning an idea into something you can hear i think it's top! But once you become more familiar with reason you start to hear it in songs everywhere. This, for me, has spoiled it. I now use ableton live. I've had it (and a launchpad) for some time now but because i'm used to cubase and reason the layout and function of it was very unfamiliar to me and i gave up on it too soon. But i was very ill through january, and decided to kill the hours getting myself aquainted with it. Holy smokes what a program! I really can't convey it's awesomness! Things can be as simple or complicated as YOU choose to make them, meaning ideas in your head can be turned to sound VERY quickly (like reason), but then can be fine tuned into a work of art (like cubase). Try it, i think you'll like it
21. Maple and blocks you say? Will have to take a close up so you can appreciate the subtle birdseye and wenge in all it's glory!
22. Your not the only one! I had a play on it, and it was just out of this world!
Does anyone know what became of the fretless uberhorn with the mega fingerboard? I'd love to get my hands on it!
23.
*snip* signal is fed down a 13-pin cable to your converter that then uses the pickup signal and turns it into MIDI *snip*
This is where i'm lost. What options are there?
24. I've been thinking about midi for a long time now. But the price for a Roland floor unit has been enough to put me off so far! If i did go midi, it would be with the aim of using virtual synths run off a computer, so what i'd like to know is; Would something like the GK3B pickup and a midi interface be sufficiant for this? My assumption being that the pickup outputs a midi signal, or does it send out as something else and gets converted once in the floor unit? If it's the latter (which i guess it is, otherwise no-one would buy the floor unit..), are there any other options that wont cost several hundred squid???
