1. Case and tuner. But i would class those alongside the 'obvious' bass, lead and amp. And thats all i use
2. With the exception of an Overwater Progress Deluxe Custom (that i sold just over a year after i had it), all 10 or 11 basses i've owned have been bought 'unseen'. The only ones to go in less than a year were: A cheapy Harley Benton 6 string, bought it to see if i'd like 6 strings. I didn't, so sold it on ebay after 6 months for more than i paid for it. A cheapy Stagg 4 string fretless, bought it to see if i'd like fretless. I did, so sold it to a friend to fund a 5 string fretless MTD Kingston. My first 2 'proper' basses (Yamaha RBX's, 4 and 5 string) are still with me, as is my Shuker. The rest (Crafter acoustic, MTD fretless, OLP 5 string, my first bass (plywood)) stayed with me for 3 years at the very least.
3. I actually bought my first 5 string with the intention of stringing it with a high C, as i was into solo pieces and the time and wanted to experiment with chords more. Obviously the bass came strung with a low B. 10 years later i still haven't got round to it.... Low B all the way!
4. For a second i was intrigued by the 'Shuker Jib Bass'. Damn auto capitalise! But glad you happy with it! So have you ordered your next Shuker yet?
5. This is me, my Shuker and my new rig at a recent 'Non-commercial establishment Live Improvisation' performance. Not to be confused with a 'living room jam' as this is, after all, about rigs at GIGS.. Delighted with the new rig, very big lows! But not at all lacking in the speed and bright attack needed for slap or pick playing
6. Billie Jean is a deceptive one. You think your sitting on it comfortably, then all of a sudden your fingers are in the wrong place and you have no idea why!
7. I have a bass in hardcase and an amp in a bag which is one walking trip. Then a cab with wheels which is the second. I run a pa/soundsystem with speakers that wiegh 3 times as much as my bass cab and don't have wheels. And the whole thing takes around 10 trips to get out of the van. So when i have to carry my bass setup to a gig it's a refreshing treat!
8. It's playing havock with my mild dyslexia... Seems to have given me a bit of a headache too (like reading a post in all capitals).. PLEASE change it back :*(
9.
They imagine the ONE bass will make them practice, and play more often and better, they imagine they will not be able to put this bass down. They will make magic on this bass. The bass will have a perfectly compatible PERSONALITY with the person playing it. They will cherish the ONE bass and they will be rewarded with musical excitement. The bass and it's player will be a unique combination. They will be SPECIAL together. For some people it's an old Fender, for others it is a custom built instrument. They will spend many delicious months hunting in the unknown forests and fields of pawn shops, auctions and forums to find that mojoed old Jazz bass with the unknown history that they can have a true relationship with. Or likewise for the custom built ONE bass. Poring over technicalities, specifications, colours, hardware, woods, electronics .. they can FEEL this bass in their hands. They KNOW what it's going to be like opening the case for the first time, the smell, the weight, the patient but desperate excitement waiting for the SVT to warm up - the anticipation that the first note they play on it will summon forth God! They know this will happen because to convince their wife, they first had to convince themselves. This bass will be so well matched to the player that those tricky 16th note arpeggios will now be easier, and finally they will be able to fully express themselves.
For me, in 2004, this dream came true. But from the evidence i certainly appear to be one of the lucky ones
10. Haven't needed another bass since i got mine in '04, so i can't really add to it...
11. I was going to say saturday is better for me. But Sundays not a 'no-go'.
12.
In the mean time I'd like to start a petition for rich to bring his Wal
+1 Never seen a Wal in the flesh, so would be a rather spiffing treat!
13. Another option is what i do. Bring your whole left hand over the fretboard and fret the B with your thumb, making it easy to reach the harmonic with your pinky
14. I can bring: Custom Shuker 5 Eden WT550 & 2x15 cab Tecamp 112 combo
15. I'm in, and hopefully i'll make it this time!
16. At first i was thinking 'god i hate that keys player!'. His mannerisms and general vibe just seemed totally out of whack with the rest of the band (the hair too!). He seemed like he loved himself waaay too much and was trying to hard to be the person everyone loves. I still think that. The whole thing sounded like echos of a song by Dirty Dozen Brass Band (can't remember which one right now). So why, oh why, oh why did i enjoy that sooo much...? o,0
17.
The scale of upgrade is the largest we’ve experienced with a mains cable – resolution, dynamics, faithfulness to the source, musicality – are *snip*
All useless buzz words that mean absolutely nothing with a power cable? Fekkin hilarity!
18. I'm suprised Rhys, Cardiff is one of only 2 cities in the UK i like, the other being Plymouth (yes, that shows i'm a country boy.. lol). Cardiff has good foundations in huge variety of music (from Jazz to rock to underground hip hop, dnb and funk to name a few). Mainly friendly people, many beautifull ladies, many beautiful places. I'm interested to know what it is you don't like about it? As I've never lived there i guess there's something i'm not seeing..
19. Pembrokeshire lad here, welcome aboard! There's a few members from Cardiff and South Wales in general here. Are you in any bands at the moment, what sorta stuff do you like to play?
20.
A guitarless one does. http://www.2sickmonkeys.com/
That was the first thing to come into my head when i read that too! They played in a local pub in a room that was smaller than most peoples living rooms. Awesome guys, awesome sound!
21. fantastic guitars! played one recently with the delta metal fretless boards... wow!
22. Facebook.com / aacrylistic The funk/soul search has been turning up blanks for a while now. So this sounds like just what i need!
23.
CAME OFF AN ALL ORIGINAL 1971 BASS. ALL PARTS WERE ORIGINAL.
Hold the phone... All the parts on the bass this came from, WERE ORIGINAL?!?! Where's my credit card?!
24. Looks great! Though the scratchplate is awfull! And surely the missing bit is one of the places you'd WANT the plate if your a slapper?
