1. I used to play with my nails, though the sound i strive for has changed so i don't so much anymore. That said, i always have 1mm or so of white nail, which is enough to get the sound with technique adjustment as i mentioned. Steve Harris from Iron Maiden is famous for playing with his nails
2. left of right hand? Agree with Silddx, this is a pretty abstract question.. I'm assuming from the term 'have to be' that you WANT them to affect your playing, so i'm guessing you mean right hand. Once the nail is at or past the tip of the finger you can use them to play. But with a slight adjusment of technique you can play with your nails when cut almost all the way back. If you mean left hand, as soon as the length of the nail affects your playing measure it and let us know so that we can help people with this question in future!
3. I'm a bit gutted to see a Metro for sale at this price.. They're worth a lot more! If your not afraid of a bit of weight you'd be very hard pushed to find better. Especially at this price!
4.
That 2x15 eden is a great cab I used to have one and a metro which apart from its weight is IMO the best combo araound. I took the amp out of the metro, put it in a wooded sleeve, voila, eden amp and the 2x15
Agree 100% with the metro comment. I have considered re-housing the amp, and will probably do it at some point. Seeing as you once owned the same rig i guess you can sympathise with the downright dangerous task of getting the combo up onto the cab!
5. I'm loving my Eden 2x15 Would like to get an Eden head so i can run it without the 2x10
i used to have Eden cabs, a 2x10 and a 1x18. talk about a massive bottom...
An Eden 18? Now that i would LOVE!
6. This seems like a great amp. 2 power sections, huge output and only 1u! Suprised there haven't been any comments on it! Out of my price range but very interestiong nonetheless!
7. Home practice, rehearsal with 'mature' musicians, acoustic gigs - Tecamp 1x12 combo Rehearsal with those who think the answer to any problem is to turn it up, small gigs - Eden Metro 2x10 combo Big gigs - Eden Metro 2x10 combo and Eden 2x15 cab I can't see me wanting/needing to change/add anything to my amp collection for some time now. The only thing i would change is swapping the Eden Metro for a WT head and 2x10 cab, just to give a little more versatility. But thats nitpicking..
8. i'll check my finances tomorrow, and if they say yes then i'll get in touch with you and i'll take it
9.
Looks like it's been taken back to either the bare wood (is that wise with maple?) or to a satin finish. I think it looks pretty odd against the amber tint of the gloss on the headstock and the back of the neck. Sexy bass though. If I were rich and left-handed...
Guess i was missing something lol
10. Right, i figured out of my 2 guesses that that was the most likely one. But it doesn't look like he's done anything to it? Am I missing something?
11. Interested in this, but would be 'absolutely necessary' to courier as i'm from S/W Wales..
12.
Exactly what I said: touchboard.
lol, uh, i think he heard what you said, just didn't understand what touchboard means... If you mean fretboard/fingerboard, i can't see anything wrong with it. If you mean Pickguard, again can't see anything wrong with it. These are the only 2 things that i guess you could mean by 'touchboard', but as i've never come accross that term in my decade+ of playing and almost as long on bass forums, and can't see anything wrong with either the fretboard of pickguard, i'm guessing Josh is as confused as me as to what you mean. Simply repeating the word didn't help lol
13. I guess the best way to find out what works for you is to learn all techniques and you'll naturally gravitate towards a particular one. For me it was floating thumb. For me it seemed to be the most natural way to do it as your hand is in the same shape regardless of which string your on. Whereas when the thumb is anchored your hand is in a different shape for each string, which I found made for more inconsistancies in my playing, especially when dancing around. I also found you no longer need to worry about muting on the lower strings as this is naturally taken care of, another bonus when dancing around. I've never found jumping strings to be an issue with floating thumb, though i have seen some other people mention this. I guess just time and practice to get used to it as it's a different way of moving around the strings so you have to start from the start, as it were. If it's any help, i made a short video of me using floating thumb after a request on this forum, there's some string jumping and octaves in it. As it was pointed out at the time, as i'm playing an acoustic sitting down my wrist is at an angle, which it wouldn't be normally, but the focus of the video was on the thumb. 14. one who listens when when the guitarist tells them to turn down
15. I would be inclined to agree on that, but have no point of reference having never seen them before. Trying for a while you say? Maby time to hit him with some silly offers, see if he's ready to accept? :brow:

17. love 'em, f'kin love 'em. I can see why many would hate them, but i can't lie, my instant reaction was; YES!!
18. If you can get 50% off a new markbass thats deff good + points for that cab! On a personal level, i'm not keen on the cabs from my limeted experience. never tried the 1x15 though, let alone 2.. If you can afford the difference, the mesa will probably bring the biggest smile to your face the 1x15 is pretty beastly, so 2 = doom! As for the cheaper options, obviously wont be on the level of the more expensive alternatives on at least one level (build, power, sound etc), would the saved money be usefull enough?
19. Just googled it, and for literally a piece of folded metal and four rubber rings the price is monkey flippin insane!
20.
Id like it if better it had an ashtray & faglighter fitted
Why? Because it's Shmokiing!!

JOHN

I had a glossy Yamaha brochure when i first started playing bass ('98) and used to spend hours drooling over this bass. The inlays are still some of my favorite. Simple, small, yet beautifull! In fact, every aspect of this bass is stunning! Going to spend a few nostalgic minutes drooling over these pictures now!
22. The figure on the finger board is amazing! The dark section looks like rope going up the board, amazing stuff!
23. From my own experience i would probably say all of the above.
24. It would be my plan too if i wasn't going through a dry patch funds wise...
