Shep, this Spitfire seems dinky despite being a 6er and the neck is a dream... it's going to be the business!
God knows how a 6 string with 18-19m spacing can be dinky... But cool!
I've got loads of room in the people carrier if you (or anyone else!) needs a lift from the City Centre / train station? Also have room for a one or two people if anyone is travelling from Mansfield / Hucknall area. Hopefully we can get a few more committed to come!
Simon, thats very generous. I live at the Ice House next to the Ice Stadium in the city centre. I have been offered a lift from mcgraham, pending him being able to get. If he can't get I may take you up on the kind offer so I can bring the EBS rig with me (Both the Fafner & HD350) for people to try. Shep

2007 Overwater Perception Deluxe Plus NOW SOLD
I have just weighed it, and its just under 7lb 8oz, so I guess it must be Spanish Cedar to be that light, and stained to look like mahogany, which would explain the 2 little marks where the stain has rubbed off.
I am shocked this is so light! When I had my custom Overwater built, it was one of the most stunning things I'd ever seen. That too had a top of Wenge, very much like yours, but it weighted 12.6lbs!!! It was the single heaviest bass I've ever touched and even though it was my first custom build I let it go. The sound was AMAZING, but I couldn't stand with it for any length of time. Chris claimed it was due to the amount of Wenge that had been used as it's such a heavy wood. This bass may of proved that wrong! -
Yeah, my old GB was solid body and sounded amazing, better in fact than the exotic Rumours I tried (which still sound amazing!). My new one will be interesting, as while it has a top, you could argue it wasn't exotic, as really, its rotten (Spalted)…. Maybe the worse the wood, the better the tone! Thats where we've all been going wrong all these years! Make a bass out of your Ikea wardrobe… who knows
Silly Small!
But so cute :-) Seriously looking forward to having mine assembled with all the hardware etc now. The wait is starting to hurt! -
Yeah. although i'd order the top as a tight flame rather than a quilt... Out of interest, would Bernie do a rumour body with a Spitfire Head? Some very pretty gear on these pages!
Rumour with a Spitfire head. It would look very unbalanced as the Spitfire head is quite large as it is in proportion to the Spitfire body. The Rumour body is loads smaller. Ask him, I'd say thats the best way you'll get an answer!
That's my old bass! I met up with Bernie a couple of weeks ago when he bought it back off me 7 years after he built it for me (he's changed the strachplate since having it back)- twas a sad day but I'm only playing my Spitfire 4 now (my avatar pic) which Bernie made me 3 years after the Rumour, so it made sense in a way. Stonking sounding bass though and you're right, it was the best sounding Rumour I'd played/heard. However (believe this if you will), one of the other reasons I decided to let it go is that my Spitfire sounds even better (same Rumour circuit in it) Such great basses and such a top bloke!! Long live GB!!! Cheers Dave
It is a beauty! You should of sold it to me though… bernie has enough GB's already
It's a monster - it's one of the best sounding GBs I've heard. I was talking with Bernie - just goes to show that the none fancy woods can often sound better... the ones that seem to stand out always seem to be the solid colour ones! Having said that, I was around when Bernie strung up your 6 - he passed it me to see what I thought of it. The fundamental notes are very strong and the notes sustain for ages... it's looking good!
So I hear. Bernie speaks highly of it, as have a few people that have seen it over the last week. Looking forwards to getting hands on. As for flat colour basses. My 5 in Daphne Blue was amazing sounding as well! Maybe it's that paint!

Yeah, but proportioned perfectly. If you never saw it like that you'd never know. It doesn't feel small... It feels right. Great bit of engineering. -
Not usually an LED kinda' guy, but I love the Daphne Blue one with blue LED's! Sweet.

Promenade is a great store and the guys there are very helpful. If they it at the same price on the Promenade site then I'd buy direct.

I assume thats the 'alliance with a large stockist' they mention on the homepage.
I saw this bass in the flesh when I went around to Robbie's the other day. I have to say it looks great, the neck and fretboard are particulalry stunning. I also feel that the pics are a little misleading, as they don't show just how neat and compact the body shape really is. You're going to be a very lucky man.
I completely agree. When you see it in the flesh it's very different. The Marseer body is very small and compact, bought into balance by the long top horn. I love how compact it is, it just has large 'hips'. The body, in context reminds me of the Cort Curbow, whereby on its own it looks regular sized, but next to another bass it seems far smaller. I'll see if Robbie can send me a pic of the body next to a regular J-Bass body for comparison…. As if by magic…! -

THIS IS NOW SOLD! For sale is my EBS Session 60 combo. Cool little tilt-back style bit of kit. Not the traditional super high zingy EBS sound, but certainly reminiscent of it (more like a scaled down EBS Classic 450 tone). Amazing sounding for such a tiny combo. Its a 60w 1x10 with a tweeter, 2 band EQ, Mid scoop, XLR out, Aux in and headphone in as well. Very loud for 60w and stunning tone. IMHO the best practice/small acoustic gig amp on the market for what it costs. Rated 5/5 by Bass Guitar Magazine and its easy to see why! I have had this about 6 months, its been to one open mic gig and just stayed at home since. its as good a condition as any you'd find on display in a shop, comes with with the mains lead as you'd expect. I'm asking £200 collected from Nottingham as its pretty damn new, and thats a saving of £50 over a new one (Bassdirect have them at the mo at £250, and thats on special offer!) for the privilege of having it sat in my apartment for a few months. Because this is small and square, regardless of how well I pack it there is a risk that if a courier chucks it about it will die. As such I really want this collected. I will send this insured via courier at your cost, BUT once it leaves my hands I take no responsibility for what Fedex do with it! Not looking for trades (Unless its a part ex towards an EBS Neo 112 or a nice GB Spitfire bass). And to give you and idea of how small these things are... Shep
