Commendable attitude Shep! Give me a bell if you need anyone to talk things out with, e.g. if you need someone to convince you you don't need something, persuade you your stuff is great, etc. Working on technique is a great way to forget about acquiring gear. Writing stuff too.
Cheers Mark, I know my stuff is great and I know my technique needs work, and I'm loving writing stuff at the mo... So this should be easy!

Met Si today. Top bloke! Bought his Diago Tourman which he kindly hand delivered. He was even kind enough to humour me by listening to my ramblings about effect in D&B, AND even pretended to enjoy listening to me play some samples of what I do! Cheers Si Shep

Well my rational reasoning is that I will soon be taking reciept if two stunning custom builds... The RIM alone has generated more questions and PM's than I imagined it would... It's certainly been a head turner. I love my amp sound. I love my pedal setup, buy just felt it could achieve more, which I just sorted in the shape of moogy goodness. I really have serious top end pro gear, more than many professional musicians earning a living touring the world. It's very excessive. It's ENOUGH. On that basis I'm clearly buying on impulse as I can pretty much get any sound I need from what I have! It's time to enjoy what I have, rather than hunting for the next best thing... Shep

I seem to of developed a compulsive attitude towards new toys… A kind of buy now and deal with it later attitude. Thankfully its not something that has got me in trouble in anyway, but I've certainly lived beyond my means this last 12 months, what with custom builds, new rig and more pedals than I know what to do with… I have been searching for some pedal solutions for a while to round off what I'm doing, and have just settled on yet more purchases in light of that, hopefully I'll have finalised all such items by the end of the weekend… As such, from Monday, I am declaring a GAS free year. Yes, 12 whole months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With the exception of replacing any damaged cables/patch leads/strings/general consumables I will not buy another bass, am, cab, pedal, pedalboard etc etc etc for 12 months… I have more than enough stuff, 2 top end amps, 3 cabs, soooo many effects and some of the most amazing basses, I just need to learn that I can't keep pleasing the credit card companies like this… This will be hard (Kicking my compulsion, not having new toys). So I need your support… If I try and buy anything from you in the Market place… tell me to sod off! Wish me luck, Shep

Cheers guys. That's real kind of you. I'll see what I can do regarding the logistics of getting to the SE bass bash...
What made you decide on the M9 in the end?
The unit is much more user friendly, far less twiddling. I'd say I prefered the modulation on the M9. Delays had little between them, but the dirt on the M9 was far better on the bass. Also the expression on the M9 seems you can put it to far better use.

Having spent a few days with this now the set up is lovely. The bridge saddles are a joy to work with, with tiny adjustments making noticeable differences. I've changes the control dials for Hipshot O-Ring knobs and changed the Strap pins for Schaller ones (worth noting thy the Ibanez screws are quite thick compared to Schaller ones so use filler or glue for an extra tight fit). Still finding the tone rich and deep with a great zing to the slap tone. One point which I can't overcome is that to get the fretless strings to intonate you need to play on the fretline, rather than just before it like on the fretted strings. This is bloody strange as your expect to move between strings easily but means you have to think about it a little more. I may be able to overcome this when I spend a little more time on the setup, but right now that remains the only 'downside' to the bass. Shep
Absolutely divine mate. Whats the price tag look like
PM'd As for pant changing... I ran out of them about an hour after recieving that last pic! -
Did you try the zoom or did you not fancy it?
Couldn't find one in a local store to try... Otherwise I'd of given it a go.

Tried both today. M9 wins without doubt!!! Anyone want to part with their M9?
Bet you can't wait to get your mitts on it. Wonder if I can work out some way of intercepting it... Eude
Intercept at your peril! -
I think I'm likely to go down the multi-effect route now by the looks of things (see separate thread), as among the other sounds I need, I'd be able to dial in 2 dirt tones easy.
-
Hmmmm.... That sounds more interesting. Seems the M9 does the synth and filter thing much better... I need to avoid getting carried away though as I have a huge pedal board already... Chorus/Flanger, Delay & Fuzz/OD - would us expression for volume/swell. Based on those 3 things the Boss seems as though it may be the stronger unit?
-
So if your running 3 effects at once you can set the expression pedal to change a parameter within each effect at the same time? If so that is A - Mental, and B - Cool!

Oh my god I have just found the bass of my dreams... I have to own it... Oh... Wait... If you look closely at the light patch on the top horn, it looks like sunset, meeting the quilted section under it, which looks like water. This is completely by accident... But it's very cool. -
Cool. Seems the GT-6B is a little more versatile, but the M9 is far sexier... And I am a geardo....
Seems a bit obvious but the Fulltone Bass Drive and the T-Rex Bass Juice both have OD and boost operated by separate foot switches. Might not be what you're after though.
I was under the impression that the 'boost' on these was volume rather than a gain/fuzzy boost? Or did I misunderstand that? The Fulltone would be my first choice if it's what I'm after...
hey Shep the m9 and m13 are a bit lacking on there own in the drive/fuzz department unless you use some kind of blending for the clean signal. Delays chorus' and flangers are all pretty good tho' and then you've got other stuff like ring mods etc etc
Hi Steve, Thanks for that. Ironically the feedback around the net seems to think it's the Chorus tones that are lacking in the M9/13. Nice hear otherwise from a real person though! Shep
i've never used the m9, but i've been very impressed with the fuzz / overdrives and amp models available on my gt6-b, i use it mostly for a bit of subtle chorus and flanger the majority of the time though, can do subtle much better than any other effects ive used.
Cool. Good stuff. The GT-6B having the built in expression/volume pedal males it appealing as well ME-50B should also fit the bill (Not sure if it can do delay & chorus at the same time?)

I'm bombarding with threads tonight.... Sorry! I need some effects for a side project as deconstructing my board is a silly task every few days. I was going for a few stomp boxes but due to costs of pedals I'm happy with I thought I'd investigate multi's... The two that seem to fit the bill are the Line 6 M9 and Boss GT-6B. I effectively need 3 effects... Delay with tap tempo, chorus (and maybe flanger) and a fat Overdrive/Fuzz. Any users of both that can comment on the over tone comparison between the two on these effects? Cheers Shep

Hi guys... Looking for at least 2 dirt pedals in one basically, eg, something which can be an overdrive, or more aggressive, but controlled via 2 footswitches, rather than turning dials... Hope that makes sense... Any ideas?
