Bump for a great amp
Chera bud. And I agree... It is awesome. Ironically I've had 4 PM's from people on here for no purpose but to say 'Dude, the Fafner is SOOOOOOO much better than the TD650... Don't do it'. I'm not usually swayed by the masses, but this time I'm thinking maybe it's not going to get much better than this or big gigs...

THIS HAS NOW BEEN TRADED FOR A TD650 Feeler here guys. I own both a Fafner & a HD350, recently the 350's been getting more use, and I've always fancied trying a TD650... So... I'm offering my Fafner (which don't come up often!) for trade with a TD650 as I hear a few 650 owners wish they had bought a Fafner an visa versa, OR sale at £650 collected complete with 4u Gator Rack Case. NO SHIPPING! too delicate and heavy to trust it with a courier. There is a TD650 for sale on Basschat at the no, if that sells then this will likely be withdrawn until another comes up! Amp was serviced by Bernie Goodfellow in Jan and was declared perfect still. I changed the valve anyway for a brand new one anyway as I'm particular about stuff like that. While he serviced the head I had Bernie do a minor mod for me and replace the red bulbs (which have a reputation or blowing ALOT!) with some bright blue LED's, much more in keeping with the EBS look. Never been pushed hard and is as amazing as you expect. Seen in the middle here... That's the case included but the tuner is not for sale... Atop my rig... Blue light... Shep

I played a gig where our drummer forgot his bass drum pedal! Lol. He played all the bass drum strikes on the floor Tom, altering the actual use of his hands quite a bit. Needless to say... We sounded sh*te

It's quite odd actually... One of the few bassists that really inspired me to play more chords and play higher up the neck is Justin Chancellor from Tool. He is also strictly a 4 string player who stands by the 'why would I need more than 4 strings' mentality. Figure that one out!

TRADED - Ibanez SR2010ASC Ashula Ltd Edition.
pantherairsoft replied to pantherairsoft's topic in Basses For Sale
Great vid - alas I expect the bass wouldn't sound that good in my hands !
The vid is a fairly accurate representation of the natural 'flat EQ' tone of the bass (fantastic pups and pre!). A very 'funk-esque' tone. I was surprised when I first picked it up... Usually video demo's sound nothing like the bass/amp/pedal it's showing... I've had a large amount of PM's regarding trades with other basses... Sorry people but I'm not interested in other basses at all. It has to be a sale, or part-ex trade involving one of the cabs or combos listed in the 1st post... UPDATE - Will include shipping within mainland UK... -
Recomendations of a Quality 6 String up to £ 1500
pantherairsoft replied to Chris Horton's topic in Bass Guitars
I'd be very happy with that for £500. The TRB range set a bench mark for professional 6 string basses. Unless you fall in love with a specific bass, you'll find that rather than just being a good 'introduction' to 6ers, I think you'll find you have actually bought a serious bit of kit that will fulfil pretty much every need you'll ever have. -
(Are ERB players just frustrated guitarists? Just go get a baritone guitar if you need those high notes & want to play chords - leave the low zone to those who like groove!!)
A little unfair... But each to there own. I consider myself a 'Groove' player, but being able to play around the 2-3rd fret on the B or E strings and pick a quick note down there on the C string is a lot easier and has less room for error than doing a Flea style move and shooting down to the 14th fret on my G to pick and then fly right back to the 2nd on the E again... And repeat!
If i had to choose right now like Shep i would go for a 6. However I play five string in one my bands that doesn't warrent the 6 string and i love playing 4 string too. Like Shep says its all about using the extra notes in the right place not shoe horn them in. I am planning to go to a 7 string soon though as my guitarists are going to 8 strings.
Amen bro! The 6 string still has the same strings as the 4 string as well! I actually find mr Roscoe & RIM necks comfort than most 4 string necks due to the extreme thiness and flatness of the profile as having the extra width means a good luthier can do without thickness for structural support... It was Oakbear at Nottingham Bass bash that found it amusing that I thought his 6 string Ritter had a thick neck (as they are considered slim in the 6 world)... Then he picked up my Roscoe. It was prob the slimmest neck in the room!

What was the gear that you thought was poo, at the time...
pantherairsoft replied to Moos3h's topic in General Discussion
I had a Deep Impact. Bought it for £50. Used it for a year. Thought it was poo next to my mates Boss Syb-3... Sold it for £80 and recall feeling chuffed for making profit from something I thought was a bit Cack. Oh how foolish was I.... -
Only 6 for me. I played a 5 for most of my playing life as I loved the tone from the lower, heavier string. As my playing matured I learnt that the low B should be used sparingly. Around the same time I strung my spare 5er E - C as I was playing up the neck more... I liked it and ended up using 1 bass for some songs and 1 bass for others... After a while this started to bug me having to take 2 basses to local gigs on public transport so after a trip to bass direct a year ago I went for a 6 and have never looked back! I seem to find 6 necks very comfy (all mine are very slim though) but I don't share your thoughts on close string spacing as my 5ers and my 6ers have all had 18.5mm - 19mm string spacing so no closer than any 4's really. There are some musical ventures I'm involved in where I don't use the B or C strings at all... I don't feel the need to use them because they are there... But it means 1 bass suits all my needs, no detuning, and I love the neck profile. 6 wins for me!

Cool stuff. Am enjoying the blog dude... Keep up the good work!

I need to spend more time with my MP-201 and LPF... I wish the MP-201 had more inputs!

Ha! Picked mine up from a Shop on eBay... They are asking £300 BIN... But they are accepting 'Best Offer'... And I can confirm they accept considerably less!!! Here - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Moog-MP-201-Multiped...=item3a5b998c34 - Came with a US 2 pin plug, but a £4 US-UK adapter from Maplins sorted that (Or you can buy a replacement UK one from DV247). If your anywhere near Nottingham soon your welcome to come see what it can do with Moogerfoogers... Shep
theres certainly enough to write about to warrant a blog of its own............... dan???? lol MP201 is next on my list, i use a CP251/EP2s to keep my foogers talking to each other at the minute.. which is fine, they do have some interesting conversations but my feet cant always keep up with them!!
The MP201 is a crazy beast... With so much it can do. After weeks with it, I'm only using 2 of it's preset banks out of the 99 odd in there... Soooo versatile. My main bank of settings is - 3 channels with the FreqBox (Frequency by Expression, Waveform by Triangle LFO and Env' Amount by Saw Down LFO) and the 4th channel on my RingMod (Frequency by Expression). My Low Pass Filter has it's cutoff controlled by a separate EP-2. The combinations of sound from that bank of controls alone are endless!!!
-
Not carried away... Controllers are important! I use 3 foogers, controlled by an MP-201 and a single separate EP-2... The MP-201 gets used a lot for it's controllable LFO abilities (driving the FreqBox with different LFO's makes the pedal mental!)... I think external control units and life manipulation should be a whole blog post on it's own! Shep
@Shep - will try and make tonight bud.
Only just saw this… If you were at the gig bud I didn't see you… real sorry if that meant I ignored you!
New blog titled 'Implementation of Modular Synthesis for the Bass Guitarist'. Got any additions I should be including? Dan
There should be some mention of delay or reverb… there is almost always some form of slow decay or fade-out to a traditional synth sound. The tone ending as soon as the string stops vibrating often sounds very unnatural… I think its fair to say that many of us using similar setups use a fair bit of delay… Now you're going to point out the bit where you mentioned it and I over looked it aren't you! (Thanks for the mention on the Guyatone PS3 as well….)

TRADED - Ibanez SR2010ASC Ashula Ltd Edition.
pantherairsoft replied to pantherairsoft's topic in Basses For Sale
I must admit I was a little bit dubious about the double fretboard but after watching the video I must say it is a very cool idea! I almost have a GAS attack free bump for a very cool bass
Thanks Max. It does sound great and has some great features (like rolling the volume off on the mini pickup pretty much mutes the fretless strings so you can't catch them when playing 4 string fretted )... If your GAS does strike I'm sure I can think of A few part-ex items from your stock! -
That Is Awesome!

TRADED - Ibanez SR2010ASC Ashula Ltd Edition.
pantherairsoft replied to pantherairsoft's topic in Basses For Sale
It is a rather wonderful and odd beast... But sounds and feels amazing. If anyone wants to try this by the way (And I'd understand that people may wish to with it being a little unusual) it is located in Nottingham City Centre and anyone is more than welcome anytime... Those members on here that know me will know I am ALWAYS happy for anyone to try any of my gear, even if your not sure it's for you... Shep -
Straplock body screws coming loose..?

I just use gap-filling super glue (like Zap-A-Gap)... And hope I never want to remove said pins -
THIS HAS BEEN TRARED Hi folks, I have a rather unique and fantastic sounding Ibanez SR2010ASC Ashula. This is a limited edition for 2010 and very few remain available to buy from online retaillers. This bass is 6 strings, strung as a 4 string fretted, with the D & G strings repeated over a fretless board as well. Fretless strings have there own pickup so they literally sound like a different bass. I took this to Nottingham Bass Bash last weekend and it got a fair few compliments and much interest. The preamp and pups in this are unique to this model and blow the socks off othe Ibanez basses I've played. I have replaced all the knobs with expensive (£30 worth) of Hipshot O-Rings and given this a real good set up... It plays fantastic and the intonation is great over both fretted and fretless sections. Link to more info - http://www.ibanez.com/BassGuitars/model-SR2010ASC I recently reviewed this and you can find it here along with many pictures - http://Basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=109041 I bought this as an investment for the future, but something is available that I really need for a band I'm in and this is going unplayed (generally kept in case like an investment should be!). I have had it a mere 4 weeks and the only time it's left my apartment since was to the Bass Bash. Absolutely spotless. I would like £660 now including delivery to mainland UK for this. Also includes are the original knobs as well as the sexy Hipshot O-rings that cost £30 and a decent gigbag as well. I have replaced the strap pins with Schaller ones, which I will leave on as well as including the originals, and will throw in a full set of Schaller strap locks (chrome) for £10. Will consider part-ex offers on... lightweight compact combos (Markbass etc) particularly an EBS Drome EBS Neo 110, 112 or 210 EBS Proline 210 Will consider other compact cabs (110, 112 etc) I won't be upset if this doesn't sell as I'll put it away for the future as I intended to... Pictured here alongside my Roscoe... (it's the lighter coloured one, obviously!) And with the knobs changed for the Hipshot ones...
