1. Lovely bass. If this was a 6 I'd take it now! Someone buy this quick! (if you want a setup doing on that Sandberg to bring the action down to as low as the Thumb gimme a shout!) Shep
2. Very tempted by one of these... Did it come with the tripod as standard? What's the difference between the NXT & the WAV models (other than about £100). Shep
3.
hahah thats a board! nice! my board is quickly going this way! my guitarist is scared! lol andy
Thankfully I don't have a guitarist to scare
4. You get what you pay for. If your thinking around the price of the Digitech, then honestly that I the best at that price point. Spend a little more and you can get a Boss SYB or EHX MicroSynth. The EHX has the better sound, but can only be set up for one sound at a time... The Boss will let you have a few presets, but non of which are amazing. For a Single pedal solution the Markbass is by far the best but you need to spend time with it hooked up to a computer to get the best out of the sounds (although the presets are still better than the other pedals listed). There's loads of info here - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=72012 plus if you use the search function in the effects forum for 'synth' you'll find loads more. Obviously the most versatile way to do it is analog with multiple pedals... But it gets expensive... Like this - DanOwens blog is worth reading as well - http://mrdfowens.tumblr.com/ Shep
5.
mmmmmm
Damn you autocorrect!!! Back on topic... Lovely bass!
6. All duplicate threads have been closed. Please stick to this one and edit the first post if details need changing etc Good luck with the sale! Shep
7. Welcome! Hope you enjoy the place as much as the rest of us.
8. I know it's a bit far away, but is anyone coming from near/around Nottingham (or passing through Notts on the way down) that fancies picking me up. I'd happily pay half the petrol both ways... Shep
9. Fuzz Guitar boutique in Nottingham stock MTD. They don't have access to the Tobias stuff though.
10. Just googles Travis Bean. It was a Travis Bean.
11.
Can you check what Lancaster is playing then please?
Looks like a Kramer to me
12. Kemp was definitely playing his Wal... I Sky Plus'd it and have it on my screen! Has it slung over his shoulder as they walk on stage, but starts playing when the band do...
13. Some great basses on this thread. Musicman do the stealth look so well. I do with they'd make a Stingray 6 string though!!!
14. Quick vid from rehearsal on Xmas Eve. Just after set up before we made any real noise. Shows the pedalboard against the rest of the room/rig/drums etc to give you a full idea of the size! Not sure if you'll get any sound as I've just moved house and don't have broadband set up yet so this has been compressed and uploaded to Photobucket via iPhone. 15. Also interested in taking this at that price. If it's still available AND after Wright/Watt (welcome to Basschat by the way) has had 1st refusal, I'd be interested. Any chance of a pic of the actual cab? Shep
16. So tempted. Lovely instrument. Had my eye on the Bassline Universal 5 in the Gallery for a while, but this may be turning my eye...
17. I had one. Loved the tone, but found it didn't track the G or C strings (I play a 6) very well at all. Sounded great everywhere else. Felt like it needed a certain amount of 'bass' in the note to trigger it correctly. Wouldn't track chords at all either. Still remains one of the beat tonal Octavers available though!
18. Have a great time this Christmas everyone. Thanks to all of you for making BassChat so flipping great! Shep
19. Great looking board Simo. Fantastic. How do you find the MXR Noise Gate. I really need to try a noise gate out soon for my monster board...
20.
Thanks Shep! Someone recommended Roscoe to me recently, I'm not so keen on the shape but they have a spec that suits me well. I'll have to look up RIM I've never heard of those!! Does chambering bring up balance issues? I've gotta get me one of those comfort Strapp's just got to work out the length I need lol
Roscoes are stunning. The fretless Roscoes are the best fretless basses I have tried. The shapes arn't all great, but I quite like the Century series (which I have). Chambering only casues issues on balance if the builder doesn't select the neck woods etc to counter act... any Luthier worth his salt will adust wood chices and strap pin position to make it work. Chambering doesn't always save loads of weight, some basses I've felt only save a small amount, maybe 0.2lbs, but it depends on how its done. mcgrahams Wood & Tronics is chambered and it weighs about 6.5lbs or something silly, so it obviously depends on how its done. RIM/Robbie McDade - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=9653 or http://www.rimcustombasses.co.uk/ - Link in my Sig to my RIM Marseer 6. The weight is saved as the body is quite small compared to a regular Jazz size bass. As for the Comfort Strapp, I have the Short one, which I bought as my RIM has high strap pins. It's fine, but I'd prefer it to be an inch or so longer, as such I'm prob going to get the longer one. The Short one really is for guys that wear the bass high (up over your boobs, like Victor Wooten), if thats you, let me know and I'll sell you mine a few quid cheaper than a new one and I'll buy the long. If you dont wear it up real high then go for Long!
21. I recently picked up an EA Wizzy 10. It's very light. Compact, and fits in a special EA backpack so you can carry it with bass in hand to a gig. Handles a low B well. Tilt back option. Comes in under your budget. Perfect:)
22. I can't vouch for the Marleaux, but get the right builder and the right wood and a light 6 string is all good. I only play 6's now really and weight has been a big factor in finding the right bass. My Roscoe Fretless 6 is 9.1lbs and my RIM Marseer 6 is 8.6lbs. Both very light for 35" scale pro instruments (both lighter than an average Fender jazz 4). When Robbie built the RIM I had the option of having it chambered as well which would of made it even lighter!! Since I've been using a Comfort Strapp as well all basses feel about 1lb lighter than they really are! Shep
23.
Very nice dude, I miss the sound of my LittleMark/AguilarGS112 combination, amazing sound for the cash/size etc. Very happy with the little Promethean combo I replaced it with though too. How does the 10" handle the low B? Eude
Very well. I'm yet to gig it, but have cranked up at home and the low B is well defined. It looses some smoothness if I attack the string to hard on the low B, but as a 1x10 that's what I'd expect. It's not EBS... But it is the next best thing I've experienced! Very happy. Shep
24. My new home practice and small gig rig. A step away from EBS, I needed something I could carry and had a solid fat finger tone for acoustic funk gigs. This whole rig fits into a EA backpack and off I go! Damn sight better sounding than most mini practice combo's too... MarkBass LittleMark 250 EA Wizzy 10 Shep
25.
...............you know that is not a bad idea................I will looking for someone soon..............
Where do I send my CV?
