Powering lots of pedals at different polarities
pantherairsoft replied to pantherairsoft's topic in Effects
it's just that they have a picture of a moog in their diagram that made me draw that conclusion the blue one is a jack, so i was wrong about that.. http://www.diago.co.uk/pedal-power/pedal-p...structions.html i use mine with a mb compressore 12v, mxr blowtorch (18v with adaptor) and a bunch of other pedals and it never seems to mind anything. magic little boxes.
Your not wrong! I'd read somewhere that Moogerfoogers didn't like sharing power supplies (like line6 ToneCore stuff) but I can no longer find that webpage and this seems to imply otherwise! -
Both Diago Tourmans - same size!
I think you had quite a few more pedals though if I recall... Lots of smaller stomp boxes...? Not got any George L's left you want to part with do ya? -
can't you daisy-chain the diago and use red adaptors for the moog or blue (longer barrel) ? or have i got that wrong ? if 1 powerstation won't do the lot, then two might be the way forward..they don't seem to mind a mix of 9 & 12v imo.. with the exception of the 24-v pedal.
Hmmmm the red one might in theory... Anyone have an experience of doing this with a Moogerfooger? Shep -
Hi Shep, If I can source the longer plugs I can make up a PSU with leads for the 3 moogerfoogers at least, will send you a PM. Cheerz, John
That sounds promising. Ironically I think I can get the plugs from where I work for you! I was unsure if the Moogers would get noisy being connected to the same supply? -
Hi guys... I'd like to reduce the number of mains plugs I'm having to use to run my monster board. Any suggestions on slimming the following down would be appreciated... The easy stuff - All run off a Diago power station... ALL 9v Centre Neg Boss DD20 Boss SL20 Boss OC2 EBS Unichorus Guyatone Phase Shifter Tech 21 XXL Bass Devi Ever Soda Meiser 3Leaf Groove Regulator That's one plug. Then all of the following are run on individual power supplies... All 9v centre pos, but will happily take 12v. These need to have a long type power connector rather than the common shorter one. Moogerfooger MF-101 Moogerfooger MF-102 Moogerfooger MF-107 Markbass SuperSynth (12v pos with a huge draw of 550ma) Moog MP-201 (12v pos but with an odd connector, looks like a regular barrel with a yellow cap and a really tiny centre hole) Old EHX Bass MicroSynth (24v pos). I'm happy with the Diago and I'm thinking the SuperSynth is best on it own due to a huge draw, as well as the BMS as it needs 24v. Is there a supply that could wither run everything run by the Diago PLUS the 3 moogerfoogers, or just something that will power the 3 moogers. I am unsure about the MP201 as it's connector is very odd and finding an adaptor may not be easy. Even a way to power the 3 moogerfoogers would save me 2 plugs! Cheers Shep
It looks awesome, those Moog pedals ain't sheep either. Worth the extra?
Worth the Sheep... The Low Pass Filter really is THE way to to the synth sweep & drone sound that guys like BOND & John Davis do, for that it's amazing. The Ring mod is very good, goes from Trem to bitcrush. The Freqbox is mental, and utterly amazing. To get your monies worth out of them though you HAVE to have an expression pedal for each of them... Where the Freqbox is concerned I'd suggest 3 expression pedals and it becomes an endless supply of tones. I have the Freqbox in 3 channels of the multipedal and the ring mod in one, with the LPF on it's own pedal... -
I owned a 5 Spitfire for a while an have a 6 Spitfire on the way (see link in sig). AMAZING! Sound like no other in the top end, very versatile everywhere else. Bernie is a great craftsman as well. There is a GB thread here if you havn't seen it - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=17506 and EBS_Freak is our resident expert. Prices... 2.5k gets you something basic (painted finish, nothing exotic on the wood front, no LED's or fancy stuff) but the skys the limit from there....
The size of the reminds me or Finbars old board.
It is pretty substantial... I am using everything on it as well. Some pedals get more use than others but this project is pushing my limits. I kinda let my feet (rather than fingers) do the talking Shep -
Nice work! I suggest adding a Nocto Loco... I have the kit for one ready to build that's been sitting here untouched for over a year! One day I shall finally build it...
Interesting pedal! I think I have enough for now though The Moog MP-201 opens up such a world of possibility as well... You can do so much more with the Moogerfoogers on the back of that pedal! Shep -

I couldn't find a feedback thread for Dan so here goes... I picked up some moogy goodness from Dan, which he not only delivered as promised and kept in constant communication throughout, but has also provided aftercare with some advice on getting the best out of those items. He has proven he's not only trustworthy but a damn knowledgable chap in all things effect based! Cheers bud Shep
Looks like the fun starts Sunday for me too.....
Crikey he finished that quick! -
Obviously it changes on the input of the bass and the tone of the amp, but I get a huge chunky sound as follows... Figures listed as 'oclock' Sensitivity - 10.30 Attack - 7.30/8 Decay - 11 Intensity - 2 Range - Low Feedback - Up position Sweep - Up The new GR2 has a blend so you can get more grit in the signal which would sound better still I think.
WOW!! Got any samples?
Not with that full set up, and not recorded well... This is with the Ring Mod, Freqbox, MB SuperSynth and other bits. Cack recording though - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...t&p=1017007 -

Had the rehearsal space to myself last night so started putting together the full board for my Drum & Bass project. I'm going to need another night or two! Here is a snap shot from my .modular synth section' which makes up about a quarter of the setup... Just add octave! Shep -
Glad it's not just me. Those wine gums can do funny things to you you know. Well hopefully mine's next, whenever Robbie's ready. Let me know, Mr. M!
lol. Looking forward to the next Marseer build diary!
That's a fantastic piece of work. Awesome
It is looking fan-bloody-tastic. I can't wait for sunday... -
I prefer natural finishes... That said I like a few painted basses too. Love the stealth look. I tend to be drawn to interesting looking wood grain... but I don't think I'd so no to a georgeous painted bass.
Hey Shep! Nice to meet another fellow Nottingham bass dude Yeh I've been in SS coming up to 4 years next April (Jesus H Christ, that's madness) so was in when Rob was singing! Was you down Magnet a lot mate??? I can't recognise you from that picture but I bet I will face to face! You going to that bass bash thing?
Yes indeed. Used to rehears the same night as you guys at Magnet (Think I was playing with Sideshow at the time if I recall), have known Rob for about 8 years. I will see you at the bass bash bud!
-
Your GR is thin sounding!? Are you using it on the low setting? Mine seems to crumble the floor beneath me its so deep and sub-like... In fact unless I put it on the high setting I struggle to get it to sound remotly quacky and funky... Shep
-
Welcome fellow Nottingham Bassbod. Are you the same bassist that used to play for Sack Sabbath when Rob did vocals for you? In which case we have met many times! Oh... and enjoy basschat! Shep
Am I alone in thinking that in the first pic the figuring on the top bout of the bass looks like a dark haired girl sitting on a rock with the already discussed sea/sunset behind her? Regardless, that figuring is amazing.
I hadn't noticed that... But I see it now! Ha. Cool. -
Cheers for the suggestions guys... Also to those of you that have PM'd memento suggestions etc... I have opted to go for 2 single pedals as together they take up about as much space as all double pedals do. I have stuck with my Devi Ever Soda Meiser for one tone (plus the glitch setting is awesome), and added an old fav', the Tech 21 XXL... They are different enough to work great together and the sounds just seemed to excel to me over the twin options. Cheers again guys... Shep

I managed to have a go with a V-Bass floor unit a couple of days ago... While it was very good, it is far more of an amp modelling/bass modelling (as ped claimed) system than a Synth. That said it is still bloody cool. I have decided to stick with the analogue stuff which in light of what I do, offer me a little more flexability (and I do like dancing on pedals ). I have therefore picked up a few items to complete the missing links and pledged not to buy anything else for some time! (see sig). Thanks for the offers to try out unit from members here though... That's why Basschat it so damn good.
