1. i would without a doubt go for an MIJ 62 RI jazz...then with the rest of the cash put some sexy pickups in it...thats one bass ass bass....the 75 RI has got too much gloss everywhere IMO.. or if u want an active..Valenti, bacchus or Atelier Z
2. ive always liked the Sadowsky logo...and at the end of the day that what fonts are for..to be used...
3. its strange because the rest of his vids are really spot on like the Simply Red basslines....
4. Linus who is that beauty in your avatar? sorry off topic..
5.
It means that it's up to you whether you like him or not, doesn't it. He's never going to be up there with the technical greats of his time but it shouldn't detract from the fact he was an important figure in Manchester back in the day.
i dont think you need to be "up there" to be a good player...you just have to like it...
6. ive never heard Peter Hook play...is he any good??
7.
This is a 34" or a 35" scale? And what year is it built?
the post says 34" scale..
8. is it me or is this a bloody bargain...i played one of these a while ago and the tone was superb...the Sandberg pre really kicks ass good luck with sale....
9. Im thinking of getting a MIM Fender 5 string jazz as a blank canvas and tricking it up (if i need to)...anyone know what these are like....not sure what the preamp is like...if its pony, i want to stick some sort of preamp in it..not sure what the pickups are like either... im thinking...Aguilar, or Glock preamp...not sure about the pickups... i want to turn it into a boutique bass killer! any thoughts
10. maybe it because his sound is front of the mix...for me enthusiasm and overplaying sometimes go hand in hand...too many fills for the groove for me..just my opinion
11.
Snoopy: Really can't see the point, apart from additional ugly & heavy. Jon.
im not a big SC fan either.. this is purely cosmetic though.bet there frickin solid as a rock though construction wise....
12.
Alembics, Foderas and Ken Smiths.
Would you play one for free Wayne?
13. i hate to diss anyones playing, i really do.. but i spotted this and just thought ..overplaying... if you check out the rest of his vids.. this guys playing is spot on... maybe he had taken some nose candy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QR5ltYDqM5A...feature=channel
14. I cant say that i hate any basses..if they play well im there...i like the thought of taking a certain 'genre' associated bass and taking into another genre...Sometimes this is not possible..but ive always thought you could smoke a funk tune on a Riky...Im not that keen on the shape myself but i would still play one...Ive never been keen on the weight of Gibson basses but i still like em... Cheap and nasty basses arent good..im not talking cheap basses..im talking cheap basses that are just sold with no thought whatsoever to the end product, or the user... there just sh*te.. oh and vastly overpriced basses...although i wouldnt turn a free one away
15. im really sorry about this..this is really embarrassing..if i dont get a sale on another item this will be back up...
16. sorry please delete for now
17.
Sounds to me like they are trying to deter people from asking for extras that are time consuming to make and distract them from building basses. Also, they have staff to pay a living wage in an expensive city, and probably expensive rent to pay in a prime Brooklyn location. This is the real world, not some far east sweat-shop.
Well Sadowsky dont charge these prices..and there from NYC...There is no reason other than Fodera are riding on a prestigious name...
18. just noticed the truss rod cover...wait for it...$499
19. ridiculous...sorry IMO, when luthiers charge these prices i think there just taking the piss...what makes a piece of plastic much more expensive than any other luthiers piece of plastic...
20. are these jam nights based around songs that every one knows or is it total improv, how does it work?
21.
That's a fairly US-centric view, where they can't easily get the Rotos, or the Hofner, strings. LaBellas are hard to get over here, which why I use Roto 88s and GHS nylon flats. But Thomann carry them all (I think).
Labellas are easy to get in the UK from the great StringBusters... 22.
Improved according to whom?
Sorry wrong spelling..i meant 'Improv'
23. are you not in a band Golch.maybe try and get involved...IMHO..more basses arent the answer..the answer lies in wanted to make music or play music with the bass... absence makes the heart grow fonder, so maybe a break will do your love of playing some good
24. i cant believe this has not gone at this price...awsome basses...bit of a trek to collect mind.. check out Tamas Barabas's playing one on the websites audio..frickin awsome..
