Neo Soul incorporates other genres, such as hip hop/funk/groove. not your typical Anita Baker/Marvin Gaye. i think that what sets it apart. the term, was made up name by a guy called Kedar Massenburg. its just another shade of soul, and a progression i guess. but actually means the below. i find the genres get more and more blurred everyday. like the meaning of the dictionary term Neo " Combining Forms". Acid Jazz is just Pop Jazz Funk.

I've always loved the funky feel from J5. imo, I've heard them all, Rakim, Eminem,Big Daddy K, this guy has the best rapping delivery ever. there are so many nuances Roland. yes the drumming.!!! you couldn't not stick with the drummer and leave him all alone. hold it back and sit with him.
