6. that is a bargain for the 96. it was once mine, and the tone is very cool. with the retro its a 70's jazz bass monster.!!!
7. Its a Fender USA LTD edition 5 string Jazz with flame maple top, gold tuners etc, string through body.. its an absolute beauty, but I'm not sure its Lakland playability.
8. thanks for the opinions guys. ,i would like the bass, but I'm worried about that B string.
9.
What difference does it being difficult to come by make? In my experience limited edition instruments tend to hold their value less than standard ones.
yes but do you think this Fender is worth £1200
10. just wanted you guys/girls opinion on this. I'm a believer but apparently this bass was given to this guy by David Gilmore. as you may know i posted a thread asking opinions on if i should trade a Lakland 55-02 with a Fender. just want some input. the Bass is a Ltd 50th anniversary flame maple 5 string Fender jazz bass. i said i would never get another Fender, but I'm thinking twice about this one. not because of the Gilmore affiliation, but because these are very difficult to come by. but i do wonder. I'm sorry Patrick if you are on BassChat but these are my brothers/sisters, and to them i come for advice. this is the message he sent me. quote. No problems if we can negotiate a deal we are both happy with that would be great.I was given the bass by David Gilmour who produced 3 albums for a band I was in called Unicorn,he also covered one of our songs (There's No Way Out Of Here) on his first solo album. He was given one of each of the 50th Anniversary models. He gave me the Jazz 5 string for delivering his old Mercedes down to Cornwall and going back a week later to pick it up.He was flying himself down and back but wanted his car while down there..I'm valuing the Jazz at around £1200 but I'm willing to negotiate.Let me know your thoughts Andrew.
11. reached the pinnacle of bass playing, hell no. have we reached the pinnacle of bass making.. YEP.
12. that is a 75 RI. Fender have never made a 72 RI. What a beauty it is though. not very often do you see a Sunburst USA 75 RI Jazz.
13. £400.?? are you kidding me. ?? this is a bargain seriously.
14. Just one of the best records i have ever heard.
15. I swore blind i wouldn't get another Fender, but I'm not sure i should turn this down. Its a 1996 Fender 50th Jazz bass. only 500 made. flame maple. not sure if it has a preamp, I'm thinking not. someone has offered a trade for my Lakland 55-02. not sure what the Jazz is worth. looks absolutely gorgeous . but i know not to be swayed by looks. I'm thinking the B string is not up with the Lakland. any opinions on the trade, anyone played one.?
16.
Guess there must ba a demand to sustain them all... It seems there is also an insatiable appetite for dad rock pub covers.... the UK must have thousands of such bands.
yep.
17. that guitarist sounds spoilt and immature. and that, no doubt is a reflection of his playing..
18. I've seen lots of Kayne West interviews, and i honestly think he has mental issues..
19. damn..!! lots of James Brown gems i love.this is a favourite smokin track from the master.. after 9.00 minutes I'm still not tired of this funk.
20. its in the nuances of a bass player's style that changes the tone. nothing to with basic tone., more to with the way they manipulate that instrument.
21. Well i think so. most Louis Bennedetti tracks are adorned by the bass playing of this guy. Selan's organ playing is great also. Gene Perez has such a great feel, and groove.. one of the great unknown bassists. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmJCAR6qArE
22. sorry for the delay in getting back to people, but i wanted to make sure it went to the right person. seems like the bass may be going to Pluckedout who is a trustee of a charity that gets musicians playing. and they have no bass guitars bless em. i had a few interested people but I've got to go with the first person who asked, sorry. so bass is gone pending the usual..
