1.
As for 'banning', the vast majority of posters never need warning. It takes a real concerted effort to get banned here and, with the number of clear warnings along the way, claims of 'surprise', 'shock' and 'horror' when it happens can best be described as a little disingenuous.
Ha ha. I got banned for calling someone a moron. I got one warning before that, for posting "aggressively" though I was never told what in particular I posted. It took a more of concerted effort to stick to "moron" to be honest.
2. cheap as chips. I'd be all over it if I didn't already have one.
3. Good news... and that's exactly how to do it. Though I have found what also works is buy a great big amp and turn the bass right up. Guitarists with lots of bass in their sound soon get the picture. What I still don't get is why I get told by other band members I'm being too loud. I play as loud as I need to be able to hear what I'm playing. If I'm too loud it's not me that should be turning down first as far as I'm concerned. Even after that's taken on board, (and after years of it) it's looked at as me being awkward rather than trying to apply a bit of science. It aint bass that's makes peoples ears tired.

6.
That is AMAZING! I had a MIJ jazz that was exactly the same, bound no blocks and that had lollipop tuners. Its a classy look!
It's sat here, next to my desk... still lovely.
7. oooooh. Never heard of them!
8.
This NUTUBE stuff is intriguing. http://www.korg.com/...ws/2015/012212/ Wonder how long A it will take to make an amp with it, B how long it will take before bass amps are available to test. This would solve all issues (weight) with fulltube amps, IF they indeed sound like tube amps.
Surely they're just replacements for pre-amp valves, not power-amp valves? My current rig is the closest I've got to sounding like a valve power stage without one. It's not the same, but it's quite convincing sometimes. It takes me two valve pre-amps and a poweramp that doesn't clip easily and deals well with a hot signal, then eqing / attenuating gain so you can give the poweramp just the right sort of saturation and overdrive and let it power it up. I can get quite good Bassman, B15 and SVT sounds from it. Not bad considering it weighs about 15kg. I use an Alembic FX-1 with an Ampeg SVP-Pro through the effects loop.
9.
New rig. Not road tested yet, but sounds awesome at home so far!
Is that a midget?

11. I have a nice 600W@8Ohm 1u single channel amp. The Chevin a700v - Rare as the proverbials though. I keep looking for another but I've never found one.
12. You've just got to remember that guitars are made of wood and wood is not a consistent material. Fenders are also hand finished, so again not consistent. There's not a whole heap of difference between MIM and MIA other than the hardware and how much time is spent finishing each bass. They use the same woods. That said, there are FSR (factory special runs) MIMs that may have had more attention paid to their build than US Standards. MIJ is completely different kettle of fish. Different woods, different factories. Though their non-export models tend to be more like the FSRs in that they're made in shorter runs, better spec and build. Squier again is completely different, with cheaper woods and hardware and different production techniques. So... due to the inconsistencies present, even though these things are mass produced and that what's "better" or "worse" about each is entirely subjective, it's perfectly possible that a particular Squier guitar could be considered by the majority (if doing their best to be objective) to be "better" than a particular MIA. It's just that the odds are stacked against that being likely for each individual guitar. I have an MIM, a MIJ and an MIA bass. They're all as good as each other in their different ways. Though my MIJ is a real beauty and my MIM is the best MIM I've come across. So all depends what you think is value. And if you, for the sake of saving a few hundred quid (esp considering if you by 2nd hand, you're not actually losing "money") want to go though the likely process of buying a few MIMs in the hope of finding a really good one you like. Likewise, you might buy an MIA and find you don't... but in general, you're more likely to enjoy (if you prefer well built, finished and nice sounding basses) luck finding a good bass that's either MIA or MIJ. That, apart from their cost as new, is mostly why they hold their 2nd hand prices. Like... The Warmoth stuff is really good quality and consistent. The Mighty Mite stuff is good, and consistent, but not properly hand finished like Warmoth parts. They're not in the same league (or market) in that regard. All Parts I've not used, neither have I WD.
13. Yeah, Hipshot do a straight replacement. They're better tuners. Better gear ratio and better finish.
14. Not bad. I once had a drink with Bob Carolgees.
15. Far from being a barbarian, Conan is a very nice chap indeed. A pleasure to deal with. And he's got a Big One.
16. Bit of a long bump I know! I saw Roscoe Beck the other night playing for Leonard Cohen. He was excellent. As were the rest of them. The Webb sisters were also quite eyecatching...
17. My favourite version is the one with Stevie Ray Vaughan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB8mhzv5t_o
18. Depends if I can be arsed, which usually I can. Our rehearsal room has a perfectly good combo (Ampeg B100R) but my rig knocks spots off it
19. The weird one is the one for the Badass. Maplin do an Imperial set that has the right key.
