  1. Agree with @Maude about twisting them when you've put them back on. Whenever I work on mine, for whatever reason, I restring it with the one's I've removed for the work, but I always leave them in the bridge, and just curl them out of the way while I'm working. Never had any issues when retightening them (there's always a first time of course! ).
  2. Kaman made their name making composite rotor blades for helicopters IIRC, hence the use of composites in the Bowl Back Ovation acoustics. That Magnum is rather gorgeous.
  3. The serial number is November 1983, but it does look like someone's buggered about with the headstock. Got to agree, looks like a Blazer.
  4. Etymotic ER20s from Amazon.
  5. "Probably is not the word that I'd use!
  6. First gig I did with one band was supporting Cathedral (2nd album?), Sleep (Holy Mountain tour) & Penance. Cathedral's rider was a 24 can slab of cheap bitter. They let us drink it for them!
  7. Bizarrely enough, I saw Mastodon supporting High on Fire, around 2000, and Mastodon just blew High on Fire off the stage. Saw Metallica on the Justice for All tour with Danzig as support. Metallica were boring, Danzig were superb. Slayer's South of Heaven tour, went for Nuclear Assault, left the Slayer set after the first 3 songs. The Wonder Stuff 1987/88 ish. To be fair, TWS were really, really good, but the support band were just superb... Zodiac Mindwarp & The Love Reaction.
  8. Just wish they did the VT500 in combo form (preferably a 2x10).
  9. But Gwar are a real band, and have been going for years. One of the best gigs I ever went to was a Gwar show, awesome!
  10. Not to be confused with Wal hangers.
  11. Disaster Area
  12. Still think it sounds like an interesting bit of kit, and gives a few more stage friendly options over the HX Stomp (similar price point). Haven't looked into the HX effects too much recently, so don't know if there's an option on any of the effects to have a wet/dry mix control. If they have the option, then it sounds like it's going to be a good unit. Still hankering after a Helix LT though!
  13. Get experimenting with the settings, you can get a nice growly sound without adding drive, leaving empty slots for other effects, and retaining all of the bass. You can set up a dual signal path for more driven sounds, one side clean, the other dirty, then combine the two. You get a nice driven sound without losing the low end.
  14. Fender Rumble 500 (it's a 350w 2x10 combo, only 500w with additional cab) Blackstar Unity 500 Ampeg BA210 Ashdown ABM300 (look at Muzik Produktiv's AMP C210 300, ABM300 Evo III amp) Ashdown OriginAl C210 300 Ashdown Rootmaster C210 500
  15. They had a decent selection last time I was in there.
  16. PMT? HotRox in Nottingham? RichTone in Sheffield? Other?
  17. https://www.musicradar.com/news/fender-fined-pound45-million-for-preventing-guitar-price-discounts-online Interesting read.
  18. I do like that. GLWTS.
  19. Would love to have a shot on an Original
  20. TC PolyTune Clip or TC UniTune Clip. Much prefer the UniTune for Bass to the Poly, but I believe they are now discontinued.
  21. Managed to figure that one out on the HD500x. Use a second amp, set one up as clean, one up as dirty and then use the channel volume to blend.
  22. Now that sounds interesting.
  23. I've yet to see the full list of amp & cab models on this one. It will be interesting to see if there are any "dedicated" bass models on the standard model set.
  24. GLWTS. It is an '84. I had one in the late 80's 'til I stupidly sold it in the early 90's. One of the few basses I regret selling. From my research, they only appear to have been made between '83 & '84 as one of the "entry" SB models. Saw this on FB last night. 👍
  25. I would check the pickup height first before anything, simply raising the pickup may well give you the kind of sound you're after. If you want specific measurements, I'd say that you should have the treble side at around 2-3mm below the strings, and the bass side around 3-4mm below. Also think about what strings you're using, I prefer stainless steel rounds, but it can get expensive trying different strings. Still cheaper than trying different pickups & getting your bass set up properly again.
