1. I had a Yamaha BB614 and the bridge was the usual 'bent tin' that causes people to change. I swapped it out for a £12 one from CH Guitars that was chunkier and it did make a positive difference. The standard bridge seemed to be too 'loose' in construction which affected attack and sustain.
2. I'd say £800 would be what i'd expect to see. Maybe a little more if it's a rare colour or absolutely mint.
3. If no price is added this thread will be removed tonight.
4. Well done 4000, you're only 15 months late .
5. I've got a Rotosound one (does most stringed instruments) and it seems to track better and quicker with higher frequencies. A 12th fret harmonic E is much better than an open E I find.

When you've had it a while why don't you do a full review ? Check out some of the other on the forum to get an idea for what to cover and what format to follow etc .
7. I agree - even if you don't like it and it isn't knackered you should be able to move it on for more.
8. If you've had it only 4 days have you tried asking the shop you bought it from if they'll let you take it back ? I've known some do that with a minor restocking fee.
9. I'm afraid I can only say it's a problem with your browser.
10.
I recently moved abroad (Germany). We know there are lots of people who are resident on the continent on this forum. Wouldn't it be nice to have a local branch? Just a forum with a sub-forum for each country or language?
Thanks for the suggestions. This forum is UK based but has a strong European membership, however it would mean as moderators we would need to be able to speak many languages to ensure it is consistent with the rest of the forum (and rules are adhered to). I don't think there is a particular demand for this but we are quite happy for someone to start their own website to cater for this niche if they feel so compelled .
11. I am unaware of any ban, to be honest it's something for a buyer to worry about. We can only give so much guideance before people must take on responsibility for themselves.
12. Whilst I think the guitar version does a decent job of sounding like quite a few different instruments (my Dad has one), the problem i'd have with it is that it will never LOOK like the instruments. Part of the fun of having different instruments for me is the different look and feel each one gives me.
13. Sorry - you have to set a price on this forum. If you want to auction it to the highest bidder you'll need to put it on eBay.
14. Nice one, how long till you get it ?
15. Alas it looks like i'll have to do the inevitable and recommend what i've just bought ! Out of the choices there i'd go for a G&L. The tonal versatility is astounding and I think they have more to offer than any Ibanez at least. As for Warwicks - I used to have a Corvette $$ which was nice, but tonally a bit too aggressive and the neck was horrid. But, you need to try a few basses out and see where you get drawn, no-one on here will ever make the right decision for you.
16. Anyone passing J7 M6 ? I have a car but it makes sense if someone is passing to cut down on fuel cost .
17.
I'll try one of these yet. Failing that I'll order blindly and probably hope for the best although knowing Chris at Overwater I won't be disappointed. I just can't get away from "try before you buy"
Be aware there is some variation in the quality of the flamed tops - it's definitely worth seeing it (decent pics are fine) before you order. Here's mine with it's new friends:
18.
where in birmingham will we be able to find you steve?
Get in the queue .
19. Yeah - the pickups and EQ are very alike the UK version in basic tone, except the UK EQ seems less in your face. Not zingy ? Well not flat, but with some treble boost it is VERY zingy, the harmonics ring like bells. Thankfully it can be well controlled, I particularly like the bridge pickup soloed and treble rolled off 100%, awesome.
20. Bucket please.
21. Here's a sound sample I did a few weeks ago, it's quite basic but should give you the answers you're looking for. I think it starts with neck pickup then goes both, and bridge, all EQ flat. I don't think it sounds much like a traditional Jazz bass, it's far too hifi and you can't really get a passive style tone from it, but the clarity of tone is exactly what I got from my Progress (which I traded in for this and a G&L L2000). The EQ is very powerful for a 9v preamp (dare I say too much ?) and only minor adjustments can be made before it becomes overpowering. The centres for the treble pot and the treble boost switch are different so this gives a few more options. 22.
Why would it damage the tweeters? Would it be any different from DIing out a guitar head into a PA system (like is done at larger gigs)?
Because a bass cab with tweeters has a crossover set expecting mostly low frequencies. The crossover's job is to send higher frequencies to the tweeter, if all the power sent to the cab is high frequency (such as from a guitar head) then not much goes to the actual speaker cones, this will easily fry a tweeter.
23. The brand new D'Addarios (feel like EXLs) I got on my G&L when I bought it went really dull after just one practice session which was disappointing. Usually they're my preferred brand but I might give these Elixirs a chance if they'll maintain their tone more consistantly.
24. It'd work, but i'm not optimistic about you clipping the head to death. It could easily generate too much distortion which isn't good for your speakers from an underpowered amp.
