Original post hijacked to confirm date and location. Can people please PM me to confirm attendance and what gear they want to bring ? I can then construct a list and try and avoid any pointless duplications or too much/too little of certain things (we don't want EVERYONE bringing their rig for example). Cheers Matt

My missus often tells me i've "had that guitar before !" when it's the same colour as a previous one. For example by sunburst G&L L2000 apparently "is the same" as the sunburst Fender Jazz I had a few years ago .

To get things moving - I am going to propose a date of Sunday 27th November. Does this suit most people ? If so then we can get it booked. Is that something you can deal with yorick/Ian Savage ? Depending on numbers £5-10 each and any profit goes to a nominated charity. When we've got a date booked we can make a who's coming and bringing what list .

Testing ! Not having the same problem as you on IE8 with WinXp. Whilst we encourage people to let us know about issues they have - for now we'll be focussing on the ones that actually cause problems rather than minor inconveniences.

Sounds like the shop don't pay much attention to what they have out.

A few years ago in Manchester we had a couple of mini-bashes in the Blueprint studios. Someone brought their band's drummer and it was much fun, hearing a bass played with a drummer is very different to solo noodling. Let us know when you know the availability and prices .

Good idea. Had my band's first gig there and the size of the room is suitable for the numbers we're thinking of - plus I imagine they don't book it out much on a Sunday afternoon ?!

Bass Direct without a doubt for me. I managed to spend 6 hours there a few months ago, it felt like about 2 ! Mark is endlessly helpful and accommodating - I can't see a reason to go anywhere else. Alas I can only give plus points for Bass Direct, i've no experience of Bass Merchant .

It makes sense that ErnieBall had the Sterling range planned for some time as they were unhappy with the product produced by OLP. I imagine it's better business to run the factory they're made in than get a cut of the profit as a license fee. Also, OLPs were not very indicative of what to expect from a US Musicman and perhaps wasn't that complimentary to the brand - the Sterlings are much closer.

It would indeed, however under the new software you would also have to move your mouse to the header logo before you click ! This is the 21st Century, people don't have time to waste you know ! .

Love the look of it, but the real problem for me - fingerprints ! I hate shiny surfaces that aren't spotless and I think it'd be nigh on impossible to keep clean without it being in a display cabinet .

The last bash was quite far south in the Mids and I think Worcester is too really. Perhaps something a bit further up around Wolves/Walsall/Lichfield ?

What are you looking for from an instrument ? If we know that we can suggest which instrument may be best suited to you.

I've got an Epiphone T-Bird and it's my guilty pleasure. I have it 75% for the look of it but the sound is actually pretty decent ! Great middy tone but needs a pick to get the most out of it (both pickups for me). Value for money is undisputable but I imagine the Gibson version is different enough for experience of the Epi version to be invalid.

So basically the 'Mark forum as read' option is still there and is working, but you want it to take you to the index too ? If so, not sure if this was carried over from the old version of the software and if not, won't be possible.

IE6 may be the problem - the forum software won't have been written to include support for it (Microsoft don't support it anymore either !).

Until a date and location is established I don't think it should be publicised .

You get it home and report it buzzes when you're using your favourite bass. I ask if you get the problem from another bass, you tell me you only want to use THAT bass so aren't going to tell me, but expect me replace the amp without confirmation that it's definitely faulty. I may very well sound like i'm getting frustrated here, but my day job revolves around root cause analysis and fault finding, and much of being able to this things relies on co-operation from people. Without that - not much happens .
