JB-62 is a legitimate Fender Japan model number, usually followed by two or three more numbers to indicate where in the range the model sits (there are a few different levels of '62 Jazz Bass reissues, with different pickups, body woods and hardware). Most bodies on these are basswood, but there are some exceptions made of alder. Basswood is a little less dense and a bit softer, and therefore more prone to dinging. Could explain the damage around the body edges.

It's The One Bass for him, he's very unlikely to ever sell it. He's had it for over 10 years.

I've seen (and heard) that yellow Kubicki in the flesh and it is AWESOME. Someone on a Dutch forum owns it (or an identical one). I wish they made some lefties, but unfortunately there is only one in existance and it has a righty Ex-Factor neck for a lefty who plays upside down 🙁

There you go! The white one is an older S2 with Hyperactive pickups and the old Board 300 preamp without a gain trimpot, and it could really use one because it is LOUD. I love the white epoxy Roman numeral inlays! The black sparkle one I got from fellow member Bonin-in-the-boneyard and was made to order in 2012 I believe. Both have bolt-on necks.

Same here! Both are classic colour combos but there's something luxurious and elegant about a 3-ply black pickguard on a black body paired with a maple board that I absolutely love.

Cool! I was unaware of this too. Looks like the next generation continues where Schack Sr left off. Cool to see they're still building the classics too! I played a lefty B2 5-string with a graphite neck once, and thought it was really nice!

My Streamer LX5 is from 2003, and I bought it used and unseen. It has the proper baseball bat neck, with an almost flat rear. It almost feels square when moving higher up the neck, but still feels comfortable to my big hands. It scared the hell out of me when it came out of the shipping carton with a broken Just-a-nut II and an action of nearly half an inch at the 12th fret! But after a good cleaning and a set of new Elixirs I must say I was very impressed with the adjustability of the bass and with how quickly it settled after the setup! The neck is not as stable as some of my other basses, but other than a small tweak of the truss rod twice a year it has served me well and has been a reliable gigging bass in the 3 years that I used it extensively. It's a great bass!

I'll have a lefty Wattplower please, in green. Shortscale, set neck, P-pickup and Hipshot hardware. Looks awesome, like a blend between a Gibson EB-3 and an old school Yamaha BB.

S8***** serial numbers were used as late as 1983. I suspect Fender produced a large run of lefty necks in 78 and just kept them on the shelf to be paired with a body later. The same thing is common with Strats, you can find a ton of 1978 models.

These were never an export model IIRC. I have never seen a 1972 model before. A proper 72 RI would have a 4-bolt neck joint I suppose, so this is an interesting mixup. Now I wonder what's in the neck pocket of mine 😄 Mine is a JB75-90US as far as I know, with USA-made 1975 RI pickups.

Jackson did signature models of their Rhoads, which was a signature model for Randy Rhoads originally. There's a Christian Andreu Rhoads, the Oli Herbert Rhoads, and there were once the Kevin Bond Rhoads and Matt Tuck Rhoads. Basswise, Lakland once made an Adam Clayton edition of their Darryl Jones model in natural ash with a maple fingerboard with black blocks and bindings.

I was going to say ATK as well. I'm surprised by the 18 mm spacing though. My 1998 ATK305 has 16,5 mm spacing.

Status S2 Classic. I bought my first one on the internet untested because I loved the looks (bright white, black phenolic fingerboard and white epoxy Roman numeral inlays) and it blew me away in terms of playability, versatility and tonal quality. I was expecting a quirky 80s relic with ditto sounds, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I have since gotten another one too, a 5-string in a black metallic finish that belonged to Bonin-in-the-boneyard of this forum, and it has quickly become my main player.
