1. I have 4 basses. 75% of the time it'll be my MIJ Jazz. The others get a look in from time to time. Played the P bass last night.
 2.

Jesus! That's changed around a bit since I was last on here. I see you've ditched the MXR Ocatve Deluxe and reverted back to the OC-2. I want to get an OC-2 for comparison to see which I prefer. Cracking board mate.
 3. I take: - 3 instrument cables - 2 speaker cables - 4 way - Extension lead - Sansamp - XLR cable - Assorted screwdrivers - A5 pad and pen I think that’s it. Bass spares like strings I keep in the bass hard case/gig bag. Pedal spares I keep in the pedal board bag along with ear plugs.
 4. After reading the OP, I miss playing in an originals band.
 5. I bought a pedal from Theo. Easy as 1, 2, 3. Many thanks.
 6.
Free Bump, saw them the other day in Manchester at the LCCC, amazing!
I heard good things about that show. Early in to work bump..... Still available.
 7.
Dammit, its too short notice! Enjoy the gig mate
Thanks, I hope I will.
I'm not a fan of the acoustics in the new Wembley stadium compared to the original. Saw the Foo Fighters there and it was acoustically awfull, and the support bands were inaudible. I gather it sounds better on the ground, so good luck who ever get's them.
I saw Muse at Wembley when they did the first one and the sound was pretty good from what I remember. I saw Foo Fighters there as well (from the pitch) and the sound was crap. So bad I almost walked out. Hopefully it'll be good this weekend, at least better than the shoddy BBC mixing from the Glasto highlights.
Going the day before with a mate for his bday, if they were my tickets i'd sell them and buy these, you get Biffy Clyro and we get Lily Allen........
You also get The Big Pink who are the worst live band I saw last year. For anyone else interested Saturdays support bands are: Biffy Clyro // White Lies // I Am Arrows. I've got a few people I know interested but the tickets are going on a first come, first serve basis. If someone on here pulls the trigger then they're yours. I'm not doing favours or holding out for people I know or friends of friends who can't get their acts together. Peas and love and stuff, Alex.
 8. SOLD ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hola Bass Fans! A couple of mates have had to pull out of the Muse gig this Saturday at Wembley so I have 2 standing tickets going. I paid £49.50 all in per ticket and that's what I want for them. I have the tickets in hand. I'll post them next day special delivery at no extra cost. I'm happy to do paypal, bank transfer or cash if you want to meet on the day. PM me if you're interested and I'll get back to you ASAP (although probably not tonight as I'm about to head out). If anyone wants a picture I'm happy to pop one up. Cheers, Alex.
 9.
I also see from your last two sentences that despite my protestations to the contrary, you still think I called you a child and are now taking names to yourself, and you think I have put myself on a pedestal. You are wrong.
By sand box I mean development server. Sorry, should have made that a bit more clear.
 10.
Oh dear. No I'm not, not that being called a child should be taken a certain way. I meant not being picky about language means you can only communicate in a basic manner. However, your response clearly illustrates the importance of being picky about language.
I found your last comment quite offensive. I’m just saying, to me there’s no point agonising over whether you prefer being called a bassist or a musician. Does it really matter? Let me know when you’re ready and I shall retrieve the step ladder so as you may dismount your pedestal. I'm off to play in my sand box.
 11.
Mmm. Really? You don't see a difference, semantically if not philosophically? How can you communicate effectively, ie. beyond a very basic level like that of a child, if you are not picky with language, by which I presume you mean use of particular words to convey meaning or intent? It must be quite limiting for you, not to say dangerous. Music is a language so presumably, being a microwave, you are more picky about the newts you use?
Are you calling me a child?
 12.
Interesting you think it pedantic. To me there are fundamental and very important differences. The difference between a mechanic and a composer.
I'm not that picky with language.
 13.
.... it looks like something out of a 50's SI/FI film or, at least, something Checkov would have on his "desk" (60's) ....
I like the aesthetics of Ashdown amps. That’s the only thing I like about Ashdown though.
 14. My first bass was an Encore P copy which is the worst I've owned. I've had a couple of bad Fenders as well, an MIM jazz 5 and an MIA jazz 4.
 15.
Do you prefer to be referred to as a MUSICIAN or a BASSIST.
I don’t think it matters, I’m not that pedantic.
 16. I'm happy with a passive jazz. The 75 RI I have at the moment has a nice neck, it's not as chunky as the standards I've played. Suits my style of playing well.
 17. I expect to get a bit of a buzz from music. It changes on how I get that buzz though. I’m not currently in an active originals band. The two function bands I play with are great, I expect us to play well at every gig. Sometimes I don’t feel we do and I’m a little disappointed (your own worst critic and all that). Recently, what’s giving me the biggest buzz is taking on dep gigs at short notice. I like the challenge of learning a set in 7 days and then nailing it with a bunch of people I’ve never played with on gig night. It’s that bit of adrenalin which makes it worth while. Same reason I cycle a road bike, 67kg on about 4 square inches of rubber pumped up to 100psi and topping out at 54mph leaves me buzzing.
 18. Any reason you want 4 screw fixings or is it just for peace of mind? I've got a Fender one that does the job. It only has 2 screw fixings though but, it's not like I'm swinging from it in the evenings.
 19. Gold all the way. It's a nice transition between the maple and black.

I’ve never needed a torch to setup a bass? Have I been doing it wrong?
 22. For anyone after an Analogman Chorus there are a couple on eBay at the mo. 23.
Never really pulled as such, but get the odd bit of attention now and again. I think though it's more about how you act on stage. Apparently I can look quite moody and stand offish at times. To be honest that's true, because when I've just finished playing for 2 hours I just feel the need to go home for a cup of tea (even on the nights where I've had a couple and get quite gregarious as a result). Even though I appreciate the ego boost of female attention, I just can't be bothered half the time!
Pretty much this for me as well. If I've worked all day and have a gig in the evening; you spend an hour setting up + helping everyone else, play for 2 hours, and then an hour packing down, my desire to stay and socialise is pretty non-existent. Where as shower – tea – bed is an appealing combo.
