1.
Hi there. I would always go for a good used example of a Stingray, you can get them for the price of a new Sterling. Edit, just been on ebay and my God, have they shot up in price.
I know its crazy! the cheapest one i can find (in the usa) is $799 http://used.guitarcenter.com/usedgear/index.cfm and that doesnt include some kind of crazy shipping. But would that vintage 1976 bass be as good as a regular stingray?
 2. Hi everybody! I currently have an Ibanez Soundgear bass that was $350 and I like it a lot, but I am ready to get a better bass. For a couple weeks now I have been eyeing Stingrays, they have exactly what I am looking for in a bass. I have also been eyeing the price tag and it is too extreme for me. Then I discovered the sterling, which is also made by music man for a much more reasonable price. So my question is a sterling similar enough to the real thing? Or shold i wait a (very) extended period of time and save the money for a stingray? Thanks guys!
 3. Hello. Yesterday I recienved my digitech bass compressor pedal in the mail. It is part of my quest to get the tone of the bassist in white denim (as seen in this thread http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=93295). The problem with the compressor is that when I play like i normaly do (problaby digging a little deeper than most people) the lower notes on the 3ed and 4th string sound.... bad. I want a more punchy sound and I dont mind gritty but when I dig just a little it sounds like a fart. When I use it and only play lightly is sounds fine. I like it a lot when I slap. Is the really bad noise because I dig deep, because I have an active bass (Ibanez soundgear), or is it my old crate amp that I got from my friend for free (its really cheap but small so i like it, it also has a good dirty sound) Is it the pedal or my equiptment? If I am unclear my bad. Thanks in advance
 4. Well regardless that he looks like an infant, he makes sweet tunes for sure.

For example, you'll never, ever, sound like Marcus Miller if you're playing an EB-0 through an Ashdown combo. A
well most of the time i use a crate amp that my friend gave me but play at lots of different frieds houses and sometimes live when i go to school. I really liked the slap pedal though.
 6. Hi all this is my first post here. I usually think that bass shouldnt be altered or anything but the band "White Denim" has the sickest bass sound Ive ever heared and i want to recreate it. here is a link to the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eYwkkujr5Y. What pedal should i get to get that sound? and what setting would i use with that pedal. im guessing its a fuzz pedal but i know little about pedals. Thanks in advance.
