1.
IMO, ok he is looping , but the guy is very good. and what a voice..
Oh, aye... I'd rather hear it with a band behind him. Once the novelty wears off (as it did in 2004 for me), I always find looped stuff to be dull and linear.
  2. Every time I see someone building tracks with a looper, I want to shake them by the lapels and scream 'It's not 2004 any more!!' Yeah, it's clever... but a band would do it better. IMO, of course.
  3.
Im sorry but was it me or as per usual, was every band bass player on the show tonight slinging a precision or a jazz WTF? Dont get me wrong, i love em but FFS whats that saying about every young bass player in a commercially successful band, sheep or what? Or does the "evil" empire of Leo have the industry's balls in a vice like grip of kudos and commercial nounce? - Discuss....
Maybe they just like them.

  7.
In fact he's the toast of the bass-playing world at the moment.
Is he?

    sold

I don't NEED this, but I want it...
  9. Glad you like it!
The bag is great
I wouldn't give the bag a pat on the back yet. IME, it's a pain in the arse to lug about, and the steel loops will eventually bend and make it unsafe to use. ...unless they've since revised the design.
  10. This thread is useless without Cygnus X-1.
  11.
However, having spent several years trying (and mostly failing) to get anyone on here to think past mainstream pop and rock and to listen to something else only midly challenging...
Wow... why could that be? Are BC'ers really that simplistic and unadventurous?
...in my case Jazz
12. I don't read, and don't feel I need to. I know some theory and it's enough for what I need.
  13. ***SPOILERS!!*** Yeah... for me, the first set was lacklustre in places. There was a run of five songs which tried my patience even as a dedicated fan... Stick It Out. Workin' Them Angels, Leave That Thing Alone, Faithless, BU2B... a strange choice of tunes, IMO. Back on track with Freewill, where the focus seemed to go back to the three blokes on the stage. (I'm not a fan of excessive videos - I find myself watching them more than the band). And... MARATHON. My God, I love that tune. Subdivisions had a bit of a shonky start, didn't it? The 'Subdivisions!' voice was a bit out of sync... The second set was much better. Moving Pictures didn't use too much video. Witch Hunt was awesome (sorry, chris2112 ) Camera Eye was wierd, though.. where I was, no-one reacted when it started..? A great performance. As I mentioned above, the sound was fairly cack where I was (nowhere weird... on the floor, in the middle). Geddy was an undefined rumble, unless they brought him up for solos or what-have-you. In which case it was a fizzy growl. Alex's Tele on Vital Signs was great.. I wish he'd go back to single-coils for a few more tunes. The nadir sound-wise was Working Man. The solo section was an indistinct buzzy mush. They could have played anything, and I'd be none the wiser. Overall... a great show, but it would have been better if I could have heard a bit more of it. Its's nice to see Neil enjoying himself so much these days, as well....
  14. It was... Marathon is the highlight for me so far... No busy video screens, just music. The sound is cack, though. (yes... I got a ticket in the end :-) )
  15.
That made me giggle. But whether you rate him or not, surely the inclusion of any blues artist, nestling on the racks alongside Scherzinger and Spears, should be something to celebrate?
In all honesty? I struggle. He's just so... 'meh'.
  16. You're a man of great taste...
  17. I should learn to read.. I thought it sounded thin live, not vice-versa...
  18. As has been mentioned, it could be a number of things. I'd check the pickups aren't too close to the strings, first. Then... off for a pro setup.
  19.
I would never for a moment consider you to be a blues policeman. For shame...
I don't mind that he's not authentic, and he's not rubbish. It just puzzles me why he's so average, yet so revered....
  20.
I bloody love my Promethean: Recording from last Thursday in a room with about 150+ people
Just got round to listening to this... cool
  21.
Did their website show that they HAD stock????
I can't remember, but I always check anyway.
  22.
Whether the blues police think Mr Seasick is 'authentic' or not is entirely beside the point. He is making a healthy living, which the late Mr Burnside is not.
Of course, but we're all entitled to have a little chat about whether we think he's any good or not.
  23. FWIW - I mailed Thomann to ask if they had it in stock, prior to ordering. They didn't, but told me when it was due in. They were spot-on, and it was with me a couple of days later.
Had a reply and they say they dont have stock....have a look on their Ebay site though and they say they do.... For those that have mentioned Thomann......I have used Thomann before...not a pleasant experience. I bought a (nearly £900) dac off them, advertised in stock, but that wasnt the case, after the wait, when it eventually arrived it was obviously a used or returned item, the packaging was an obvious clue and one of the inputs (toslink) was busted. The return process was painless enough but that was the only part of the transaction they got right. I swore there and then I wouldnt use them again. Dont get me wrong here...I aint trying to have a dig or anything, I'm just left totally confused about the way people conduct their business.......I'm prepared to pay the price for a NEW item that hasnt seen the light of day since it left the manufacturers. I think I'll pass until I can lay my sticky mitts on something suitable. Many thanks for all replies and for the advice...its given me plenty to think about.
