1.
I've always read really good things about these amps and many times I've thought about getting one but I'm worried those 300 watts are not enough, I play in rather loud band Any ideas on how it compares, volume and tone wise, to heads like the Aguilar TH500? I'd run this amp through a Barefaced Super Twin
I have no experience with the TH500 so I can't comment on that, Most of my bands are pretty controlled volume-wise, but I've done deps in loud bands with the Walkabout, and as long as I've brought enough cone area along (2 x Bergantino 2x10s at the time), it's never struggled. It's just given out an honest, fat, analogue punch with a proper backbone. Don't forget it's a conservative 300 watts - it's 340w into 4ohm. It'll also put 480w into 2ohm. That said, it you crave clean headroom, don't bother.
2.
The awesome Mesa Walkabout is AB. Small amp, huge heft. I've run mine through a Barefaced BT2 and it's incredible, it has so much heft.
Yeah. Once you've tried a Walkabout, the others feel a bit 'diet'.
3. I assumed this thread was about the Eurovision Song Contest.
4. Yeah. IMO a post like this based on one failed attempt at a email communication is a bit harsh.
5. Have you tried putting flats on your P and palm muting? It won't help if you're after a rich, resonant DB tone, but if you want a nice fat muted DB sound, it'll get you close when it's in the mix.
6. What kind of stuff are you playing?
7. I'm having a chat with him too...
8. Say hello to my pal Peter Donegan. He's on the bill too.
9. Lots of Bass Direct chat here. Edit: Link's not working - just go up to search and search topic titles for 'bass direct'.
10.
IMO the flats are way better. The tone is more "rounded",and the little lick that you threw in sings out better.
Yip - I love flats. They don't just do 'thump'.
11. Here's a recording I did last night using a little Lexicon interface thingy... https://soundcloud.com/wateroftyne/sets/1971-fender-precision
12.
I think the internet breeds certain time wasters who dream of being in a band but can't actually play/organise/do anything as they don't put the effort in. Good old wanted posters used to cause less fuss.
Don't trust the Internet.... Get out there and talk to people. Get to know them. Get to know their peers. That's the best way to connect with like-minded people.
13. Gareth - there is an element of truth to your theory: City centres are transient places. Most of the good stuff goes on in the suburbs and satellite towns where musical relationships develop over years. Newcastle is a big town, and it has a lot going on around the fringes. You just haven't found it.
14. Phew... I thought you were going to post a picture of Mrs. WoT.
15. It's been done - general concensus is even if it was available in the UK, it's still not very good :-)
16. Hi everyone My old band had a get-together for old times' sake last night 'cos the singer is moving to foreign climes. We haven't played for a few years, but apart from a couple of blips, it was pretty much like riding a bike.... lots of fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k4m8OLhL8k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUOH8tSLa20 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nm9p3pPqq7s
17. Here's a clip from my gig last night where I used the H115, on loan from its soon-to-be owner. I LOVE this cab. So fat and authoritative. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUOH8tSLa20
18. Yep - lop the last digit off the SEK price, and that's your approximate GBP price.
19. Lovely! You're in for a treat. I'm hopefully about to place an order for an S212. Then I'll have a single S112 for most of my gigs, and an S212 for the bigger stuff :-)
20. I use Stablehost, but you're going to get a million different recommendations, all of which are perfectly valid.
21. Yeah - FWIW, I managed to record two 45-minute sets at 720 / 30fps with a decent set of rechargeables. It would probably have kept on going for a while, too.
22. Hmmm... if you're using video, make sure it's set to 30fps. If it's set to 60, it'll shut down after 10 minutes, IIRC. As you seem to be using audio only, I'm stumped.
23.
Drums 1977 It's Pre CBS (1965) and transition period that serious collectors go for.
Jazz Bass 65 - TV logo-era basses are very sought after at the moment. Not to the degree of the basses you mention, but they're still very collectable... especially in this condition.
