You power it via a mini-USB PSU (available separately).

I'm going to give mine a run out on Thursday. I'll report back. First impressions... nice. Cheap crappy plastic, but no surprise at the price.
Time to change strings on an old Ibanez bass.....i've used Rotosound since i began playing so fancy a change.....what d'ya reckon i should put on there? Seems like it should be easy to decide.....but i can't lol
What do you like about your current strings? What don't you like about your current strings? What kind of sound do you like? What kind of stuff do you play? ...etc. :-)

You can get a similar effect by hitting bed springs with drumsticks.

I listened to Counterparts for the first time in years a little while ago. I was never keen on it oiginally, but from this distance the actual recording sounds great. What I would give for them to record an album so direct and punchy, rather that the nonsense they're churning out now.
I wonder how much of it is linked to some kind of contract with Fender? I believe the Geddy Lee sig J bass is one of the most popular J models ever made. The fact that Geddy himself has played one (or something similar) pretty much exclusively for the past 20 years must keep the model in the public eye to some extent...
I doubt Geddy has any contract with Fender - I'm sure they're falling over themselves to be associated with him. :-)

Hi all A few of you have probably used Sounds Live in Newcastle when buying mail order. If you're curious, they've just put a Google Tour up so you can see inside... http://bit.ly/SLTour
You are absolutely right about Rush's normal set ,WoT, but I was thinking about the recent "themed " tours, where they played Moving Pictures and with an emphasis on 1980's material, and now this mooted tour in 2015 where, according to this press release, they are threatening to revisit the 1970's. What I can say with complete conviction is that if Rush are going to play the songs from the 1970's era then Geddy Lee has to play his Rickenbacker, or people should ask for a refund. The prospect of them rattling through material from Farewell To Kings and Hemispheres with that crappy Jazz Bass/Sans Amp tone he favours nowadays doesn't bear thinking about.
Ah, gotcha. TBH, the thought of Geddy's current voice tackling the old stuff fills me with dread...
Bands like Rush who tour the World doing these greates hits shows remind me of a modern version of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show , giving audiences a chance to glimse a very safe, family-friendly recreation of something that was once spontaneous, a bit dangerous and real .
I agree with most of your post, but I have to pull you on this point - I don't think they can be accused of peddling out greatest hits over and over again, not that they could do a show full of greatest hits anyway. They're continually pushing the new stuff.

I'm a huge fan, but I didn't go to the last tour for a number of reasons: high ticket price, awful sound previously, Geddy's voice, CA's cheesy sixth-form concept and the tacky string section. (Yes, I am a fan. Honest.) A fan-focussed set-list might tempt me back, but they'd have to massively drop the keys of most of the songs for it to work.,,

Tom Petty and Little Feel-Good Ditties.
wateroftyne replied to Mr Stinky's topic in General Discussion
We used to have Lover Of The Bayou by Mudcrutch in our set. It wasn't as good as Petty's version though . . . www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln7F-a05aQI
Both good, but the original is better... While we're on the subject of Tom Petty and 'Feel good'.. OK, it's not his song, but still... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CH8hkzmXfk -
Hey gang I've been doing a lot of palm muting recently - it really suits some of the styles I'm playing. Playing with my thumb gets a bit tedious after a while though, so I've been experimenting with different sponges etc. Unfortunately, none of them have worked out, 'cos getting them in and out between songs is a bit hit and miss and they never quite feel right. So then, I thought about the Bassmute. But that's expensive, potentially marks the bass, and even if I could afford one it seems he's gone out of business anyway. So step forward Amy at Patton Mute Pad. She makes cool little mutes in a variety of different fabrics, customised to fit your particular bass. It have a string attachment so you can install it in seconds between songs, it does the job perfectly. Slide it to and fro for different degrees of mute. What's more, it cost me around $20 including postage. Yes, it's more expensive than a chunk of sponge, but it's far more elegant than that. She's a delight to deal with, and it even comes in fab packaging. Marvellous. 100% recommended.

Kate Bush is doing some gigs... really.
wateroftyne replied to wateroftyne's topic in General Discussion
Sadly, whatever the face value of the tickets, many of us will end up paying double to professional scalpers who scoop them all up the moment they are issued. The lucky ones just pay the face value plus booking fee plus secure delivery. [/micro-rant]
It sounds like she's agreed some fairly rigorous anti-scalping measures with the promoters. -
The downside for me after using it for a while are that.... only runs on batteries, which will last you about 2 hours on full HD settings.
I thought you could run it from a PSU?

Not yet, but... the audio is supposed to be decent, and video passable (comparable to iPhone). Mine will be here next week... I'll let you know how I get on with it.

Ordered... thanks for the heads-up

Went to Denmark st. To buy a guitar lead
wateroftyne replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in General Discussion
Jeez, what an insane morning I've had! I just have to share.... I went to the works canteen this morning and bought a cup of tea - like I do every morning - and there were TWO tea bags in it. I can only think the lassie who works there picked two up by accident, instead of one. -
Help needed (Serious) re Gigging Sound
wateroftyne replied to Papabull's topic in General Discussion
Y'know, I know a YouTube clip is hardly representative of being in the room, but that's not at bad as I'd expected. It sounds like a very lively room. Maybe it's just one of 'those' rooms that hates bass? Or do you have this problem in a number of venues? -
Plenty of volume…. so i don't think i need a 4x10.
Yeah, you might have volume, but... Is it indistinct? Does it lack authority? If so, then it sounds like you might need more speakers.
